Started this diary a little late into the grow to keep a track for myself and for others to compare with. After a slow start due to over-watering the seedlings in their first pots and transplanting them into larger pots (learned that transplanting isn’t ideal with autos), as well as very high temps for a week or so due to a heatwave, they’re now taking off and growing quicker but they’re behind where they should be at this stage. Hopefully start to catch up now that they’re settled in bigger pots.

Really solid growth this week, catching up for a slow start in previous weeks. Feeding a very light amount of Canna Terra Vega to the roots and misting with a liquid seaweed & water solution. Brought the light down to 25 inches and on day 26 performed the first bit of LST on both plants, just bending over the main stem and exposing the young side branches. Defoliated the bottom two sets of leaves and nodes closest to the soil. They’re getting a funky smell already at the end of this week which is promising. The first pheno is more stretchy and has put on more vertical height than the second.

Stepped up the veg nutes to full dosage this week. Pheno 1 came into the week showing some brown spots on lower leaves, possibly a little cal/mag deficient due to a growth spurt so began feeding with CALMAG and kept the PH stable... doesn’t seem to be carrying on in the newer growth. Pheno 1 is more stretchy and has longer spaces between nodes and thinner leaves, pheno 2 is really short and thick and bushy. Both plants had their main stem bent over last week as well as some tucking using the plants own fan leaves. They’re adjusting to the LST with multiple tops forming an even canopy low down, with pheno 1 looking a bit twisted while she bends towards the light. Trying to keep these as low as possible as I don’t have much vertical height in the space I’m using. Pheno 1 is showing some tiny pistils in one or two places so moving into early flower. Just going to leave them to it now and not mess around much more. Hoping they grow out and stretch a bit more before going into flower.

Both plants are now a few days into early flower. Started looking a bit clawed and dark like they had too much N so stopped the veg nutes (they’d only had a couple of waters with it anyway). These autos don’t seem to need much. Grew out of it quickly so just watered with CALMAG then starting a light feed of Terra Flores this week. Stretching nicely but staying nice and low with the LST. Both looking bushy. Now to watch and wait!

Summary for the start of week 7 - Day 43 Conditions - • Temperatures are remaining steady at an average of around 26c-28c during lights on • Humidity around an average of 50% RH but creeping up towards 60% quite often with recent humid weather... will try to bring this down as flowering progresses • Watering every 2-3 days now which has jumped right up from last week, they’ve got a lot more thirsty now as the roots have probably filled out. Both plants have been drooping and drying out after a few days which caught me by surprise a couple of times, but bounced right back after watering • Height is around 38cm from the soil to the canopy, maybe another week of vertical stretch left in them at the most as the flowers are starting to build now. • Light is being hung around 48cm or 18 inches from the canopy for the flowering phase... Having to raise it a few inches every few days while they continue to stretch, then letting the canopy grow up to that 18inch mark again • Smell is becoming sweeter and more pungent even outside the tent and stem rubs produce a very strong smell on the fingertips Nutrients - • Still feeding CALMAG at 1ml per litre on every watering • Been on CANNA Terra Flores at a rate of 2ml per litre which is just under half dose (full dose rate is 5ml per litre) ... This strain started looking overfed, especially with Nitrogen, in the late stages of veg when using veg nutes so I decided less is more when it comes to nutrients. Will probably use Flores at half dose then PK 13/14 when the time is right, finishing with plain water Grow Techniques & Training - • Low Stress Training so far has involved a simple bending over of the main stem, bending over the top of some of the taller side branches and tucking fan leaves to expose bud sites. It has resulted in a nice even canopy of multiple tops. Pheno 2 had two main tops that were starting to stretch higher than the rest of the canopy this week, so on day 44 those were tied down as shown in the photos • Defoliation was needed in week 6 to clear some space in the lowers to get in for watering and take off older fan leaves that weren’t really getting any light penetration Phenotypes & Variations - • Pheno 1 shows more sativa characteristics with thinner leaves, longer internodal spacing and a generally stretchier appearance. This one needed a bit more training and taming • Pheno 2 looks is more indica dominant, a lot chunkier and bushier with tighter nodes, thicker stems and broader leaves. I personally prefer the look of this structure and think it’ll produce more dense flowers but excited to see how they both develop

Slight yellowing and brown mottled patches. Only on one of the two plants and they’ve been treated and fed exactly the same. On some older fan leaves, no signs of anything on new growth. Anything to worry about at this stage? Maybe just a sensitive pheno? Any advice appreciated.

Fabric planters when they fill with roots become harder to get your water through the entire root system. Your water, feed starts pouring out the sides before reaching the bottom of the planter. The dry areas in your root system leaves dry areas in your leaves, usually half way to near the top of the plant. Before adding more of anything you should always Check your runoff ph and ec levels to make sure everything is in check. Just blindly adding more without knowing whats really going on is how people fail at a good crop. Cheers friend

Summary for the start of week 8 - Day 50 Conditions - • Temperatures a little lower this week at an average of around 24c-26c during lights on • Humidity quite high due to the weather outside, reaching 70% at times, trying to bring this down without a de-humidifier but when the outside air is so humid already this is proving difficult • Watering every 1-2 days around 1-2L a day for each plant. The roots appear to have filled the substrate and the plants are drinking a lot now • Height is 50cm at the highest top from the soil to the canopy. Stretching should be just about finished • Light is being hung around 45cm or 18 inches from the canopy for the flowering phase • Smell is fairly strong when going into the tent Nutrients & Deficiencies - • Both plants are showing early signs of a calcium deficiency in the newer growth with brown speckles on young leaves. Canna Terra Flores brings the pH of the water down too much... Even with half the recommended dose the pH drops below 6.2 at times so I dilute with more water to bring it back up... but the rootzone pH has probably dropped too low to absorb calcium properly now. So plain water with plenty of run off is the plan for the next few waterings to bring the soil pH back up. Also foliar fed with CalMag at 10ml/litre just to try and get some calcium in through the leaves Grow Techniques & Training - • Defoliation on a few old fan leaves at the bottom of the stems for better airflow and so the plants can focus energy on the flowers Phenotypes & Variations - • Pheno 1 was stretchier intially but then stopped stretching first and started putting out more pistils and thicker looking flowers • Pheno 2 has become the taller of the two with more stretch

Brown spots on some newer growth now on both plants. Canna Terra Flores brings the pH of water down too much even at a half dose. I didn’t think I’d need to adjust pH much in soil. Any suggestions at this point? Thinking to just feed plain water to bring the pH up at the roots

Hello So try checking both in going and runoff ph. If you can do plain water to raise it good, but i think you're going to need some calcium added in. If you have a calmag supplement good, otherwise eggshells and epsom salt can be supplement, if you don't have and ph up or down drops or powder there are some natural ways, any sort of garden store lime products will raise ph as well as potassium carbonate , baking soda can help to raise the ph. It's true that you don't usually have to adjust the ph as strictly with soil growing because of buffering capacity, but that mostly applies to living soil situations and is still worth being monitored occasionally. *maybe check the ph of water that has just a calmag supplement, if its reasonably high 6.5-7 you can water that in plain and it will help raise the root zone, if your roots are very low, then even watering with up near 7.5 would probably be alright. Try a few things and keep checking and see what works best for you. Happy growing. ✌️

Managed to get on top of what looked like a calcium deficiency. pH was too low for too long from using the Canna base products so corrected that and have been foliar feeding with calmag. Growth seems to have sped up and the brown spots have stopped appearing, new small leaves appear to be growing nice and green and clear. Flowers starting to build up nicely, especially on Pheno 1. Looks like that pheno will fatten up and finish earlier than the other. Starting with the PK 13/14 this week as I’m expecting another 3-4 weeks until these are properly stacked and finished.

SUMMARY Enjoyed getting back in the game with this grow. Few mistakes along the way, particularly with maintaining pH. This hurt the plants a little in the early flowering stage and maybe affected the end yield, but this hardy strain still produced a good crop of lovely smelling resinous buds. Pheno 1 has grown flowers that are more light and airy, and less aroma to them, but still covered in resin and give a good strong effect. Pheno 2 stacked up with a real OG bud structure, denser more pungeant flowers and lots of resin. High humidity was a danger in late flower, the outside weather was very humid so was difficult to keep it down in the grow room. Overall an enjoyable strain to grow and I have 3 seeds left so will certainly be running it again, hoping to learn from this one and treat them even better next time.
