Greetings grow family! We're happy to be starting our next grow after taking a few months off. It's been a crazy, unprecedented year, for many reasons. Looking to the future, we hope that you'll join us as we work to cultivate a sense of hope... for a happy harvest! ๐Ÿ˜Š We are growing "Wedding Cheesecake Auto", by FastBuds. These seeds were free from FastBuds as part of our prize package for our "Dark Devil auto" diary taking 6th Place in the March 2020 "Diary of the Month" contest. A shout out to FastBuds for that! Check back soon for more! โœŒ๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑโœŒ๏ธ Soil Mix: 30% Fox Farms Ocean Forest 30% Fox Farms Happy Frog 15% Black Gold Seedling Mix 15% Coarse Perlite Worm Castings - 3/4 cup per 5 gallon pot NPK RAW Grow Microbes - 1 tsp per 5 gallon pot Germination Day 1: - soaked 3 seeds in distilled water for 12hrs - transferred to damp paper towel on a plate, which was placed on a heat mat set to 28C. Germination Day 2: - One seed cracked, barely showing tap root - Mixed soil. Wet a sample with ph 7.0 water and inserted soil pH probe. Will leave for 12 to 24 hrs to monitor levels. - Cleaned out, vacuumed, wiped down & disinfected our 2x4 grow tent. Checked all supports, hangers & clips, test ran exhaust fan, test ran grow light, checked all power cord connections. Generally just giving the whole system a good once over to ensure everything is functioning as expected after 3 months of inactivity. Germination Day 3: - All three seeds have sprouted in the paper towel. One seed had almost 1" of tap root, while another had barely an 8th of an inch. - We planted each seed into a 5 gallon fabric pot and each hole we made for the seed was sprinkled with "NPK RAW Microbes" before placing each seed and watering lightly with distilled water. We placed plastic humidity domes on each pot. - Soil pH readings from our probe tester leveled out at a pH of about 6.7. - The 3 pots were placed in our 2ft x 4ft x 6ft tent. We've got our two Sunblaster 6400K LED strip lights hanging down low and our HLG "Elite 360" light fixture up high, at about 40". The "Elite 360" fixture is the pre-built fixture which contains two 180w QB96 Elite V2 LED boards. It also has a built-in bluetooth controller, allowing us to control the light intensity via a "Meshtek" app. - For now, we only have 1 of the Sunblaster strips turned on, to help keep the temperature at about 80F inside the humidity domes. - We have our AC Infinity Cloudline T6 exhaust fan set to run on its lowest setting whenever the temp reaches 81F. We have 2 temperature probes in the tent, one just below the Elite 360 light fixture and one just above the soil of one of the pots. Germination Day 4 / (Day 1): - "Seed 1" has popped through the soil! That means we're going to officially call it: Day 1! ๐ŸŒฑ Day 2: - All three seeds are now showing through soil. - Turned on the 2nd Sunblaster LED strip light, raised both strip lights up, to about 18" above plants - RH inside of the humidity domes is between 75% - 82%. Outside of the humidity domes, RH is about 55% - 60%. Day 3: - RH inside the humidity domes dropped to 58%. Lightly misted the top of the soil around each seedling with distilled water, to bring RH back up to 75%-80%. Over the next couple of days, we will reduce the RH and will remove the humidity domes by around Day 6 or Day 7. - Turned on our 6" circulating fan at the top of the tent. The humidity domes currently protect the seedlings from direct breeze but we will start to "harden" them after the first week, by allowing them exposure to a gentle breeze, which helps strengthen the stem. Day 4: - today we removed the humidity domes for 4hrs - with the domes on, the light levels the seedlings were getting was around 6-7k LUX. With the humidity domes off, that jumped to 12k LUX so we'll have to keep a close eye on these tender girls during this first week, when they're not under their dome protection. - added humidifier, set on 'low'. - RH: 68-75% - Temp: 77-82F Day 5: - removed humidity domes for 8hrs - Watered very, very lightly, giving each seedling only about 100ml of distilled water. Today is the last day we'll be using distilled water, moving to tap water instead, which we dechlorinate through the process of aeration, as well as adjusting the pH as needed. No plans to feed until maybe late week 3, possibly week 4, depending on how things shape up. Day 6: - removed humidity domes permanently. - increased light intensity from 6k LUX to 11k LUX for 24hrs Day 7: - We made it through the first week without too many issues. We had a minor issue with heat yesterday, where the exhaust fan settings were accidentally changed and the tent reached 84F for about 4hrs. No harm done, so far as we can tell. - RH: fluctuates between 58%-75% - Temp: normally between 74F-79F - Next week we're going to make a few changes, including changing the layout of our Sunblaster LED's, as well as adding a 3rd 2ft fixture, a Sunblaster 6400K T5HO fluorescent, which we hope will level out our light levels from plant to plant. We'll also be switching from 24/0 light cycle, to 20/4.

Grow Questions
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrowsstarted grow question 4 years ago
Leaf issues started showing up in 2 of 3 plants, progressing fast. Soil runoff tests have been v. high (2000ppm+) so we're assuming it's a lockout issue. We watered 1 day ago, with 200ppm solution so pots are still very wet. Better to let them dry out a bit or flush right away?

Heya, I would personally let it dry out and then perform a flush until you hit your desired ppm and resume as normal. Usually the process I follow if I have a salt build up that high. Good luck!

For the record, I couldn't disagree more with Albert. I personally find your journaling to be very meticulous and informing. Your grow style works very well for what ya'll are trying to accomplish. Adding in the very tastefully done pictures of a beautiful woman, who is obviously very involved in the growing process, is just icing on the cake. I think cannabis is more than just a plant that gets you high, it's a lifestyle that includes a very wide variety of people, including those of us who happen to appreciate females whether they are 2 legged or multi branched. Let the haters hate. Ya'll just keep on doing what you do

@@pizzaman841, Thanks for kind words! We know our style may not be to everyone's taste but we do try to maintain a sense of respect for people's opinions and for the GrowDiaries community in general. We also recognize that everyone interprets things differently and we do want to reiterate that we respect all people, all body types, all genders & orientations, races and religions. What we create and share here is done in a light-hearted way that we feel reflects our lifestyle and the nature of our relationship and growing experiences. We've learnt a lot through tracking our grows and through being able to connect and discuss with more knowledgeable growers here. We do value the variety and variation of the Cannabis community and we're just trying to carve out our own unique space here at GrowDiaries. It's always nice to know that people appreciate it, so thanks!

Everything is looking great. I'm loving the color your starting to get. Just this week I've been seeing the same. I'm also feeling you on the smell profile. Right now it's very mild sweet but no cheese, or vanilla, or some of the other descriptors. Nonetheless she is a beautiful plant that looks like it has a lot of potential. I can't wait to see how this one shapes up. Keep up the great work. ๐Ÿ˜€

@Treighfunky, yep, seems like every day the smell profile changes but we were expecting a bit more of that classic "cheese" smell. We're not disappointed though, they smell wonderful! ๐Ÿ‘

If you have any desire to breed, clone plants one and two and cross them for a more or less stable parent for crossing later. As long as they have desirable traits obviously.

VanCplGrows
@Learning, These were freebie seeds from FastBuds that we won through one of their contests here and we've got plenty of other seeds so no problem there. We're not writing this grow off just yet though. It may not be a record setter but we should still be able to pull a few decent buds from these girls... ๐ŸคžโœŒ๏ธ

@VanCplGrows, Yeah I wouldn't try during flowering as I would think it's to late. Do you have more seeds? Is it worth it to you to buy more if not? Personal decision here obviously.

VanCplGrows
@Chronicbastard, Ya, we're currently use "RAW" brand microbes and in previous grows we've used mycorrhizae. We've been using them in our veggie garden for years to great success. Great White and ReCharge are tricky to find in-store in Canada but we do have lots of alternatives and do plan to continue trying different products. ๐Ÿ‘

How do you like the 360 elite from HLG? Seems to be growing really nice buds for you!
L_Tetragrammaton
L_Tetragrammaton
@VanCplGrows, that's awesome! 3 in a 2x4 would be pushing some serious light with some nice colas. I have the 225 with the QB96 in a 2x2.5 and just switched to flower. Really excited to see how it does! Great grows as always and keep it up!
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@L_Tetragrammaton, we actually really love the 360 Elite! Those QB96 Elite V2 boards are pretty amazing and we do like the built in bluetooth controller. We do wish they had've incorporated a manual knob to adjust the light intensity as well though. As much as we love the clean look of the pre-built fixture, i think that if we had to do it again we would go with a build-it-yourself option, maybe using 3 QB96 V2 boards for a 2x4 space and placing the ballast outside of the tent. No complaints here though, it's a great light!

Love the setup with the aircon and the air exchange! very creative. Looks like it could be very effective to manage a small grow space ๐Ÿ‘Œ

@VanCplGrows, excellent to hear - thanks for the feedback.
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@HazeyBobby, Thanks! Yes, it does work quite effectively to help manage our grow environment. At the moment, it does require a lot of manual adjustments, depending on the outside temperature. We would love having a bit more automation involved, as far as adjusting the ratio of outside air to A/C air, but for such a small grow space the costs associated with that kind of automation don't really make sense. For the most part, it works fine for us as is. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฑ
