Sprouted seed, approx 4 days after floating the seed in a shotglass with warm water and a cap full of peroxide. After the seed sinks in the shot glass I removed it and put it into a peat moss based seed starter puck and put it under the humidity dome on a heat mat (on the window sill if it is spring/summer). I keep the seedling in there until it hardens off the high humidity and then I transplant it into a small pot. Usually have about 95% success popping beans and starting seedlings this way.
Almost time to flip her, she's hitting the screen and filling up the tent. I've been doing some light defoliating but nothing major yet. Still getting a 1x weekly dose of 1 tbs of Aurora Uprising dry nutes. I apply 1 tbs Azos and 1 tbs Mykos mixed with 2 cups of water from my aquaponics drain line and hand water it onto the top soil. This girl also gets 2 cups of worm tea every day. My worm tea is in a black gallon bucket with a heater and a bubbler. I seed with a floating bag of worm dirt (from my vermicomposting bin) a tbs of black strap molasses and a pinch of RAW Kelp. Plants seem to be liking it.
Added some pics from playing with my little phone powered microscope. Pretty neat to see the leaves up close. This plant is ready to get flipped! I have swapped the Philips PAR38 LED bulbs over the past week into the GE Par38 flower spectrum bulbs. She is touching the screen in several areas and so I am FIM'ing nodes as they start to stretch out past the screen. I opened up the drip line a bit more this week to approx 2gph for 35 minutes every day in addition to my hand watering. I picked up some new trimming shears which I now HIGHLY recommend if anyone needs a set- look up "Chikamasa" scissors. Man these things are sharp! I bet I could probably cut a rift in the space time continuum fabric if I tried hard enough. All defoliation goes into my vermicomposting bin so it gets recycled 😁. I will continue hand watering as usual here is the plan for this week:
-Wednesday: 10ml of FoxFarm TigerBloom mixed into 2 cups of Aquaponics drain water and 2 cups of worm tea hand watered with a turkey baster around the base of the plant
-Thursday: 2 tsp Azos mixed in with 2 cups of Aquaponics drain water and 2 cups of worm tea hand watered with a turkey baster around the base of the plant
-Friday: 2 tsp Mykos mixed in with 2 cups of Aquaponics drain water (fish poop!) and 2 cups of worm tea (made with black molasses, worm dirt, and RAW Kelp powder) Hand watered.
-Saturday: 2 tsp Aurora Uprising BLOOM sprinkled evenly around the top soil and 2 cups of worm tea hand watered
-Sunday through Wed: 2 cups of worm tea every day hand watered and RODI water from the automatic drip system
Training will continue as FIM, HST, and light defoliation. ) I will start SCROG training and today (8/7) she moves onto the 12/12 cycle!
Shes responding well to the FIM training I did last week. The tops are getting really big really fast. Like a storm brewing, I have a feeling this strain is going to yield big!
Just keeping her under the SCROG net, she is starting to bud, looking good and happy. If anything maybe a slight phos deficiency or mag. Defoliation of the lower section looks like it worked well, the canopy if basically full. You can see where it was FIM'ed, causing fat lower buds to start forming in lieu of additional stretching.
Trichs starting to form, looking like a solid yield from this, she is starting to stretch a bit though so I am doing my best to keep her happy and short. No longer adding any additional Azos or Mykos to the rest of the grow. I will continue to add the worm tea and other nutes as needed.
Just a few weeks left! This pheno has smaller buds, but they appear to be pretty tightly packed. Looks like she had a slight nutrient deficiency, I really need to test my soil. I added some nutes as usually but backed off a little on the heavy salts. Not sure if this is going to be a very big yield. I also was fighting off a horde of fungus gnats in this tent.
Shes starting to fill in, the buds are pretty small compared to other strains I have grown. They look pretty dense but no distinct smell yet. I am hoping it will continue to fill in as some of the other growers here mentioned she is a late bloomer.
Starting to finally smell the flowers on this, they smell sweet but not fruity or like other blossoms. I can see how they have the cookies name on the strain, the aroma definitely reminds me of cookies. She looks to have a slight phos or other mineral deficiency, I really need to get my soil tested. Not sure if I want to spend money on a tissue test as we have such a small grow op.
Still on the fence about this grow- It had some nutrient deficiency issues and is not lining up to make any phenomenal aromas or yield so far. 1 week left until scheduled harvest, not sure if I should extend it one more week or clear the tent for the Dutch Treat I have waiting in the veg area.
Last week hopefully- I am tracking the trich colors and if it looks good in a few days I will get her hung up to dry. Getting some significant dry out/fan leaf die off.
I may update this later after it cures and I give it a go on the vaporizer. As for the growing though this was low yield, pretty stretchy, and long node spacing. The buds do have lots of trichs though and so I cannot knock the bag appeal. It has a very strong sandalwood smell. This strain also had some issues with Mag/phos uptake.
Overall, not my best strain or grow. It is different than the other strains I have run (we mostly stick to fruity/sours). I cannot complain too much as it is still covered in trichs and did not have too many issues growing in our configuration but I would not use any tent space for this strain again. Some people may love the sandalwood/earthy terps and so it comes down to personal preference. Tastes really sweet like caramel very smooth smoke.
@Beangineer, pineapple chunk is one of my favourites. Its realy indica like and a big couch locker. A nice goodnight strain. It smells and tastes like cheese and earthy.
I will keep an eye on your diary.
@Chlorophyll_Junkie, thanks for the support! I am looking forward to seeing what kind of yield Glookies delivers, I am a fan of both GG and GSC strains so this should be a winner. How are you liking the Pineapple chunk strain? I have Pineapple Chunk magic beans in my bank but I have not popped any yet. I am having a hard time prioritizing which strain to grow next (way too many options!).
Thanks
@FoTwenny, this strain is doing well but the buds are not very big. They are photogenic and smell great, not a fruity aroma at all on this one, just kind of sweet. I would probably not run Glookies again as it did not yield anything close to the online marketing for it. I may change my mind if it smokes really well, so I'll put a "maybe" on it until it dries and cures in a few weeks.
