Started the seeds off in a propagation tank next to my clones, but moved into 1 Gal fabric pots shortly after sprouting. True leaves popped out about day 4!
So I got too excited about them getting bigger faster, and tried a low PPM tea... well it turned out to be too much mixed with the already amended coco coir. Oops.
The babies all recovered from the nute burns I inflicted upon them, next week they will be moved to the veg side of the tent under a new light.
This grow is going to follow the zombies, although other strains were grown beside them, 2 autos have been harvested, and the Harlequin CBD was a male who got moved outdoors for a breeding project.
Nutrients have been switched from topsoil to liquid! This definitely spiked the growth this week. Getting close to building my new grow area in our sunroom space.
The girls have been exploding upwards! I had to take the Harlequin out due to him being a male, but the girls didn’t get any pollen! The grow speed they are at is super fast, and they get really bushy for being a Sativa.
So the zombie girls are towers now at almost 3ft high, ive decided to build a flowering room and flip them on over. They are getting rather thirsty lately and require almost double the water from the last 7 weeks!
Pistols are popping this morning. My lights go on at 8p and off at 8a so the heat from the lamps stays down. The girls are getting a fungus gnat problem that I think comes from the high heat we’re having in Illinois. Better order some neematoads!
Did another leaf strip, and took out 2 lower branches that were stretched to the max and falling over. She’s a slow bloomer, pistols are just starting to form at top sights on 7-23.
Well this week has been a struggle. Purchased a whole AC unit to combat the 82+ degree tent temps during the Illinois daytime. Also have run into a snack of salt build up in the medium, causing leaf curl. Flushing this week and cutting nutes in half for the remainder of flower.
Last week was ROUGH, but after a strict change in watering this week they’re both back to life. After asking in a few forums, I found out I was over watering these 2, which in return was poisoning them too. I stopped watering every day like I have to do with my autos, and switched to every 2-3 days, when the soil is at a 3-4 (super dry/dry border) on my hydration meter. Advanced Nutrients Flawless Flush is a great ingredient to have, it incorporates magnesium and sulphur into the soil, which holds the good nutrients in still instead of just pushing them out. The girls kept growing, but they’re deficiencies also healed in a timely manner!
I’m so excited to see the pistols popping too! Plant A had about a 4 day head start, but I think that is just the pheno type showing.
Excited to SOG the clones off of plant A!
A pretty average week of flower! Deficiencies are still repairing, stench is looming. It smells faintly of pebbles cereal/wood, this is for both of them. I’ve added Liquid W-8 by Green Planet to the mix, as well as sensizyme, and the weight of A has shot off, with B following right behind! I’m excited to see where they are next week!
FINALLY have white lights in the flower room. Introduced a Mars Hydro TS600 and it’s working beautifully. The flower tent has the SF1000 and TS600 and is pushing plenty of light throughout the room! I had to stake plant A because the top sights were pulling the whole plant down. The buds are growing rapidly, and are getting dense and wide. I can tell the Sativa genetics are coming through, the bud site spacing is insane! Gonna have some fat short buds when these girls are done.
Phenotypes are definitely showing their ass. I’d say plant A is about half way through. She is fast flowering and already has trichomes developing and turning cloudy. Plant B is being a Sativa and taking her dear sweet time. Plant A got some chop sticks because she wants to fall over, B has praying leaves and couldn’t be happier!
Pheno A also had some SERIOUS development problems this week, and I had her leaf traits nailed down to a potassium deficiency. To aid in this, I added help meal from Down To Earth Organics to her top soil, and continued to water as normal. As of today, 23Aug, she is coming back to normal and shooting dark green new growth!
Thanks to everyone who tunes in on my girls! This is all I do aside from day to day family care.
Quarantine sucks, but take the time to spend with the spouse and kids!
Pheno A is still rapidly growing ripening trichomes and pistols, while pheno B is doing Sativa things and taking it’s sweet time. Pheno A is still super sensitive to feedings and amount of water it receives, but both plants had to up their water intake this week. They went from every 2-4 days to every other day.
Pheno A will be getting harvested soon, but B will still be growing for a bit.
They both give off a grassy lemonade scent.
Holy smokes, what a week!
So if you’ve been following the twins grow, you’ll know that twin (pheno) A has been my problem child since week 4 of flower.
Well here we are in week 10 and I’ve finally caught on to her problems, but unfortunately it is too late to completely rid her of them BECAUSE...
I’m going to cut her down next week.
After reviewing her trichomes and having a friend do a “microwave dry” smoke test, we’ve deemed it is time for her struggle to end, less she herm and ruin a whole flower room.
Friend notes they were “stoned to the bone.” And stayed up until 3a looking at enter net memes. Bud was smoked around 11p.
I fully believe that her downfall was my own fault for not realizing that her pheno wasn’t sick, but developing SUPER fast. Her buds are twice the size of ZDF B and her smell is way more potent. I won’t do a harvest log until ZDF B comes down, but they will have separate reviews and be cured separately when the time comes. You’ll see if I cut her or not next Tuesday!
Have a great week!
First note, I ran out of bud candy this week and I’m sad about it.
So as I predicted, I cut pheno A this week.
B still has 3-4 weeks to go by my guess. Stigma are still coming out white and buds keep forming.
Pheno A has a very low-mid yield. I don’t have a final weight due to dry/cure still going. I didn’t want to make a harvest diary since Pheno B still has time to grow and stack weight.
Smoke sampling for Pheno A is SUPER SMOOTH with a sweet citrus taste. Effects are very Sativa with a mood lifter providing lots of energy and motivation, all with a happy/euphoric feel.
Thanks for checking in!
UPDATE: Dry weight of Pheno A was 43g... a bit sad innet?
Well folks, this is the last week you’ll be seeing zombie B alive, I plan on cutting her in 3 days (Sep26). The next diary of her will be a side by side of her and her sister.
Thank you to all who have followed these 2 plants and watched them grow with me.
From peat pod, to 1 gal, to 7 gal, all the way to the drying rack.
The only difference in smell between B and A is that B has a minty smell added to the “rotten lemonade” smell of the zombie.
This plant was SO hard to grow, but so worth it.
It stretched 3x its original height, almost died 6,000 times, broke multiple limbs, had to hold it up with sticks, and everything under the sun.
These plants both had a “rotten lemonade” smell, with pheno B having a mint after smell.
Holy smokes!
This plant was a monster to keep alive during flower.
So many different unsolved problems.
Oh well.
These flowers shrunk about 80% in size but sweet Mary Josephine are they dense!
The smell is overpowering, the smoke is smooth, and the flavor is out there!
These are definitely sativas.
My first rip I washed dishes while doing calve squats.
10/10 would recommend.
Looking good! I had Zombie Death Fuck in my last run and she was a great producer! The pheno I had was herbal and gassy. I look forward to seeing how your ladies turn out. Happy growing!
I really liked the pheno of ZDF I grew out my last season. Very productive plant with good trichome production and a unique yet somewhat familiar aroma and flavor. It was one of my patient's favorite of that run.
