This is "Week 1" of basically starting the germination process. Using two Growers Choice Critical Purple seeds to start off. This is my third attempt at growing--I've gotten to the seedling stage and each time my seedling gets overwhelmed by heat/root rot or the cotyledons fail to open. So, we'll see how this goes!
7/16/20 Update: Checked up on seeds and both have sprouted tap roots. Added a bit more water to keep the paper towel moist. Will check again in a few days!
I planted the two germinated seeds on Saturday afternoon in moisture control soil. Did not water because the soil was very moist already. I have these in my homemade grow box underneath a 600 Watt light. Now its just time to hope and pray for them to pop out of the soil!
7/21/20 Okay so this is a bit frustrating, I planted the seeds and still haven't seen any sprouts ....I'm wondering if I planted them too deep in the soil 😟 In any case, I started germinating two more seeds and I actually ordered an official grow tent to hopefully protect the seeds a bit more and create a warmer environment.
8/10/20 OK! so Change of plans guys--I definitely planted the seedlings two deep into the soil :( I'm bummed because they were really healthy. Luckily I had some GC Hindu Kush on the way and I just waited until they arrived, followed the exact same germination process, and planted them. This time I planted them a bit earlier, and not as deep. I also used a humidity dome over the small pot I planted them in. I'll have a photo of the seedling tomorrow! I updated the demos to reflect the change in breed as well. Thank you guys for being patient! Can't rush nature ;)
Greetings fellow growers! This is my midweek update--just to clarify this is the 5th week of my "growing journey" but the 2nd week of growth progress with my Hindu Kush! I did add more soil around the roots to increase stability and also a 4 inch fan to get air circulating. I have been spraying with pH'd water when needed--I don't want to overdo it. So far solid growth but my plant does seem to be very "dainty" 😂 I'll most likely wait until week 3 or 4 of veg before adding in any nutes or LST.
Week 3 of Hindu Kush Auto (Whitney). She is still growing steadily--rather slowly--although she does appear to be very dainty still...I have suspicions that 1) it has to do with this strain being very difficult to grow based on what I've read, and 2) I started off with the wrong type of soil. To counterbalance the lack of nutrients she did have her first feeding and "true watering today". Up until now I've just been misting with pH'd water in the mornings and evenings when the soil is dry. Today I gave her FF Big Bloom according to the nutrient schedule but at 1/6th strength. She drank up about 1/2 cup of water. Will update throughout the rest of the week to see how she responded!
Week 4 of my Hindu Kush Auto grow and Whitney is finally filling out! She's working on her 4th and 5th set of leaves. I'm expecting my FoxFarm soil delivery this week, and I plan to transplant into a deeper and healthier soil environment. She's drinking up a good half cup of water each day--and I mist in the evening as well. Pulled back on nutes because she's doing pretty well and isn't showing signs of deficiencies--just longing for more room to stretch her roots
