48hour germination in paper towel, 100%(4/4) put in soil on July 11. Im using promix herb and veg soil in small square pots. As of July 17 the true leaves have formed and the second set are forming. 18/6 light schedule.
First problem of grow, plants had yellow lower leaves on day 19. Clear signs of nitrogen deficiency so I put them in 3gal containers of Sea Soil Container Complete(sea soil compost/perlite/coco coir/azomite/calc 2%, mag 0.45%) Its been two days and the yellowing has decreased and new growth has increased. I also added 3 more a19 8.5w (5000k) light bulbs since the plants are more spread out now. Zero smell, however it has been hot here so I hooked up the AC Infinity S6(no carbon filter) for better circulation.
*Goal for Next Week: Signs of at least 1 female from the 2 Mandofruit seedlings. Explosive growth, no signs of deficiency's and easy adjustment to more lighting.
The plants are adjusting well to their new fabirc pot/soil/lighting. Plenty of beautiful healthy growth, however I am monitoring some slight tip yellowing on some lower leaves.
Carebearz: Both ladies started stretching and pre-flowering. One is 11inch and the other 9 inches.
Mandofruit: It took roughly a week longer to identify sex. I tossed one male and have one female that is only about 6 inches. **popped 2 more seeds a few days ago since it looked like very likely that I had 2 males
A sweet floral aroma is coming off the girls. I don't find it stinky so no carbon filter for now. The Mandofruit stretched and caught up to the Carebears, but with less pistils. Slight tip burn on a few leaves but I'm not concerned. Height for all 3 is around 13-15 inches.
Next weeks goals: If the plants stetch anymore I may get sterile plastic stakes. I might top up the 3gal containers as some dirt has settled. Thinking if I had more soil I can avoid deficiencies later on in the flower. I might also buy some kelp/alfalfa meal to make a basic tea.
Mandofruit grew 5inches and has now surpassed the height of both Carebears f2s. She has smaller buds and the similar floral scent. I topped up the soil and used wood skewers to support the plants as they were leaning a bit.
All 3 are doing well, giving them deep drenching ever 3 days or so. The odor is no longer floral, its hard to pinpoint. Not sure how much longer, I need to get a jewelers loop.
Week 10 was a headache. I had to pluck nanners on both Carebears f2 and I found fungus gnats in the tent. The gnats explain the crappy top leaves on the two carebears from last week.
To fight gnats: I got safers gnat Traps(yellow sticky tape) and am dunking/submerging the fiber pots in water instead of top watering.
I can only cross my fingers on the nanners. It’s only for me but I still hope I don’t get any seeds. Will be washing the tent as soon as the first 3 plants are done.
Week 11, the home stretch. Gnats are still appearing so no more top watering and I deployed yellow sticky tape. Sadly, the Carebears had another bunch of nanners in the same spot so I plucked it quickly and will be doing a clean when the grow is over.
Trichomes are milky but not enough amber yet on the CB2. Same deal with the Mandofruit, which I expected since its about a 85 day start to finish.
Day 84.
Carebears need more time, starting to see some amber trichromes(1-5%)
Mandofruit had some Nanners pulled the last two days. I think it might be my conditions(mayb stress from fans, temps went to 90f a few times, fungus gnats the last few weeks.)
Hopefully no more than 1-2 weeks since I started more seeds 😬
Carebears harvested on oct 10th, Mandofruit on 12th. Over 95% of pistils were brown, trichromes were milky with less than 10% milky. The trichomes took much longer than pistols to change.
Humidity is 55% and temp 61F in the drying tent.
Finally found someone else using LED bulbs to grow their cannabis. Will be following this grow and using it as a comparison to my own. These look amazing btw 👌🏾 How'd you determine the sex so early?
@CenturionGrower,
Thanks, dude. the household LEDs in a cheap multi-light fixture work great for any plant seedling. I got a free 1800w x6(really 300w) blurple, so I actually switched to that once the plants showed sex around week 3-4. The females were easy to tell, they had white pistils early. The males were harder since I hadn't seen one before. I knew it was a male when I had multiple pistachio shaped sacs where every other plant had pistils "hairs." Good luck!
