Fastbuds contacted me last year about testers and sent me this super secret CBD👀 strain. All they could tell me was that it's 1:1 and I would have to wait for it to be released before any more info was given😁 I love the fact that they sent not just the DVD case as packaging, but it had an actual DVD in it😀 Last time I got seeds camouflaged like that it was just the case for "Alexander" 😝
So I had a total of 6 autos to start and my friend had 12, so I let her borrow my thermostat controlled heat mat and humidity dome, popped mine in after soaking for a few hours, and told her I'd be back in a week. Well, she set them on her coffee table and forgot about them😣 I came over to get them and they were super leggy and mold was starting to accumulate because she didn't remove the humidity dome so one of the 20:1's rotted.
But anyway they were started in Coast of Maine Sprout Island Blend. It seems I inadvertently deleted the picture I took of them last week, but it was a sad sight anyway😟
Transplanted into 6.5L pots for now until I figure out where to put them in the garden. I did a top layer of more Sprout Island Blend and then my own homemade compost the rest of the container. I figure keep it nice and mild on nutrition at first and then they can reach down for more if they need it. The compost has a lot of worm activity.
I also put them down a couple inches because they were so leggy to give them more support. I have them in a wire dog kennel with deer netting around the outside to keep critters from munching. They're much happier with actual sun and are taking in the fresh air well🌞
2 out of the 3 have red stems so maybe an indica hybrid?👀
Well, its been a great week! While i was cleaning out the barn on the 24th i came across the box I usually use as a chick brooder and had a brain wave! See, I don't really have anywhere to put these in the garden right now and I really wanted to get them out of the plastic pots. I have an area by the house that used to be my herb garden and also where I kept my first grow in the beginning. I dismantled it earlier this summer but there's still open areas of soil and wood chips so I put the box down there. I also took 3 support hoops and attached deer netting with clothespins to keep any interested wildlife out. I filled it with some homemade compost and a partial bag of Pro Mix BX someone gave me that has been sitting in the barn for a year.
The Pro Mix BX contains mycorrhizae and biofungicide, so hopefully that will help later on when we get damp and cold weather in September since these were started a bit later than I would have liked. I'll be curious to see if it actually does make a difference, since I still got a little mold on the CBD Crack 1:1's I did last year, but really just on the bushier, more indica phenotype. If they do well with it then I will most likely use it in future grows since I always have issues with mold in the fall. I'm planning on putting a clear tomato roof over these like I did with my grow last year. It didn't stop all the mold since there's still those pesky caterpillars that like to burrow in and take a 💩 despite spraying and picking them off.
I transplanted and let them do their thing; I didn't even need to water as the soil in the pots was still pretty wet. I also buried them down a little lower like last time I transplanted.
Every day since then they have been growing before my very eyes! I'm really happy with their progress.
Since I didn't get much info from Fastbuds other than it's a 1:1 (earlier diaries say it's a 2:1) I have been looking at other diaries. The majority of those with a harvest didn't give me much info to work with aside from dry numbers on the low side (avg .73oz/plant). The 3 who did have an actual smoke report varied: 25% Sativa & 75% Indica, 50% Sativa & 50% Indica, and 80% Sativa & 20% Indica. So there seems to be a broad range in this strain as they narrow down genetics. Everyone seems to agree that it's earthy so likely has a high Humulene content which is fine by me, anti-inflammatory and pain relieving; yes please!
Yesterday I gave them their first topping but I'll include that in next week's post!
Happy growing!✌️
So unlike the 20.1's that I "F@$#, I missed!" on, these girls were actually topped. Right afterwards they switched to flower. Up until now they haven't really been showing signs of needing feed but I know they're going to need it from here on out.
The drought continues so I think I'm going to get these girls some seaweed mulch. There's no real rain in the forecast and we desperately need it, even more so than a few weeks ago.
Really looking forward to seeing these girls fill out.
Monday update: Topped with fresh seaweed.
These girls have really stretched this week, so much so that I'm going to have to modify my netting on top soon. It'll be interesting to see how they turn out with the topping vs the FIMing on the 20.1's.
I gave them some seaweed mulch on Monday and fed them yesterday with Saltwater Farms 3-2-2 Fish and Seaweed a well as some Big Bloom. I made the mistake of going out this morning and getting too close when taking photos because the smell hit me a little hard so early in the AM before I've eaten so I got a little nausea😩.
I'll probably give them some molasses this weekend and maybe add some more homemade compost under the mulch.
Earlier in the week these ladies got a mix of Big Bloom, Molasses and Fish/Seaweed. It's interesting to see how much taller these plants are with the topping vs the FIM on the 20.1
I'll be very curious to see how these two strains finish out side by side and what potential differences there will be in yields and flower composition.
Today while taking pictures I noticed a bit of discoloration on 2 ladies so I top dressed them around the base with 2-3 Tbsp each of lime. We are forecasted to get rain this afternoon, therefore mother nature can water it in so I don't risk oversoaking them. It's really nice to actually have rain again.
I've been feeding these 2 strains the same nutes from the same watering can, since they are in the same raised bed, so it's interesting the differences and color and nutrient needs. Fast Buds said that the 20.1 is a heavy feeder so it appears the T36 is even hungrier.
These girls were fed 2x this week and their color looks good, so I think this afternoon I'll just give them some molasses.
I removed some of the fan leaves and it looks like these girls still have a couple weeks to bulk up so I'm excited to see how much they can put on in that time. They smell fabulous!
Well, I had to chop down these babies on 9/8, same day I took down the 20:1's. I noticed there were a few aphids on one of the 20:1 plants that i didn't want to spread, and then taking a closer look I found mold so I thought it best. Trichs were cloudy for the most part with a little amber coming in maybe 15%, so hopefully with some aging it'll only get better.
What is there to say? Well, vegetative growth was impressive once I got them in the ground and they had more room to spread out. They responded well to topping and they had quite an appetite that I just wasn't keeping up with.
Very strong Pine and Lemon scent that overpowered the 20:1's. I think this strain will be a good addition to Fast Buds CBD lineup.
I think from now on I would just be better off to stick with photos.
Will give more info when dried and cured.
