Fastbuds contacted me last year about testers and were nice enough to throw in their relatively new 20:1 strain that came out last year. I love the fact that they sent not just the DVD case as packaging, but it had an actual DVD in it😀 Last time I got seeds camouflaged like that it was just the case for "Alexander" 😝
So I had a total of 6 autos to start and my friend had 12, so I let her borrow my thermostat controlled heat mat and humidity dome, popped mine in after soaking for a few hours, and told her I'd be back in a week. Well, she set them on her coffee table and forgot about them😣 I came over to get them and they were super leggy and mold was starting to accumulate because she didn't remove the humidity dome so one of these 20:1's rotted.
But anyway they were started in Coast of Maine Sprout Island Blend. It seems I inadvertently deleted the picture I took of them last week, but it was a sad sight anyway😟
Transplanted into 6.5L pots for now until I figure out where to put them in the garden. I did a top layer of more Sprout Island Blend and then my own homemade compost the rest of the container. I figure keep it nice and mild on nutrition at first and then they can reach down for more if they need it. The compost has a lot of worm activity.
I also put them down a couple inches because they were so leggy to give them more support. I have them in a wire dog kennel with deer netting around the outside to keep critters from munching. They're much happier with actual sun and are taking in the fresh air well🌞
From Fast Buds:
"Fast Buds’ first entirely medicinal strain, CBD 20:1. High in CBD at up to 20% and a THC content as low as 0,3%, making this strain legal in the majority of countries around the world. CBD 20:1 has the potential to alleviate many pains and disorders and with such low THC levels, this strain is perfectly suitable for those who are not regular cannabis users.
Bud Appearance
Firm buds packed full of CBD and all of its therapeutic properties. Great for breaking up for a spliff, or especially useful for making extractions to create oils, creams, tablets, edibles, and all kinds of other medicinal products you wish to use.
Smoke Report
Purely Medicinal. The perfect antidote to various ailments. In many cases, users claim to have found relief from issues such as anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, inflammation, and others. CBD aka Cannabidiol doesn’t produce any psychoactive effects, therefore this is a great option even for non-consumers. Before popping a pill, try popping some of these seeds.
Plant Appearance
She grows quickly and vigorously. This strain can reach a height of 70-90cm, not huge, but give her the space she needs to allow all her therapeutic potential. CBD 20:1 produces tall and bushy plants, with a solid main cola.
Grow Tips
You’ll need to work fast as she’s a rapid one. An 18/6 light cycle seems to work best with this strain. She’s a hungry one so keep her fed, especially during the flowering period to get those fat, healthy nugs. Keep a steady eye for harvesting signs, in order to reap all the CBD benefits. In 9-10 weeks, you’ll have your very own medicine tree.
Flavor
Sweet and Subtle. Taking your medicine has never been so enjoyable. This sweet strain goes in smooth with notes of fruit and honey."
Well, its been a great week! While i was cleaning out the barn on the 24th i came across the box i usually use as a chick brooder and had a brain wave! See, I don't really have anywhere to put these in the garden right now and I really wanted to get them out of the plastic pots. I have an area by the house that used to be my herb garden and also where I kept my first grow in the beginning. I dismantled it earlier this summer but there's still open areas of soil and wood chips so I put the box down there. I also took 3 support hoops and attached deer netting with clothespins to keep any interested wildlife out. I filled it with some homemade compost and a partial bag of Pro Mix BX someone gave me that has been sitting in the barn for a year.
The Pro Mix BX contains mycorrhizae and biofungicide, so hopefully that will help later on when we get damp and cold weather in September since these were started a bit later than I would have liked. I'll be curious to see if it actually does make a difference, since I still got a little mold on the CBD Crack 1:1's I did last year, but really just on the bushier, more indica phenotype. If they do well with it then I will most likely use it in future grows since I always have issues with mold when these plants are finishing up, it just goes with the territory, everyone I know who grows outdoors up here does. I'm planning on putting a clear tomato roof over these like I did with my grow last year which definitely cuts down on the bulk of it but there's still the issue of caterpillars getting in there and pooping up a storm. Gross😩 and another good reason to wash!
I did put them down lower in the soil again and they seemed to like it just fine. That's why even though they've grown quite a bit this last week the height hasn't really changed in the "Conditions" section. The soil in the pots was still wet so I didn't even water.
Every day since then they have been growing before my very eyes! I'm really happy with their progress. Fastbuds says "You’ll need to work fast as she’s a rapid one." and I can see that. They also say this strain is a hungry one and to keep them well fed, but for right now they have all they need.
Yesterday I gave them their first topping but I'll include that in next week's post!
Happy growing!✌️
So at the beginning of the week after my post for last week I topped these two, except true it it's name I actually FIM'd as you can see. "F&@#, I missed!" And then they switched to flower. So though I haven't needed to feed yet, I know I'm going to have to now.
With this drought going on I think I'm gonna have to give them some seaweed mulch. Its been so dry, and there's no real rain in sight. It'll probably all come at once next month when all the plants are finishing up so they rot 😣
Monday update: Topped with fresh seaweed.
Good week for these girls. Their color is beautiful and they got a top dressing of seaweed mulch on Monday. Couple that with their feeding of Fish and Seaweed emulsion with bat guano and worm castings last night made for a little bit of a stomach turner while I was taking photos this morning😩.
They're much shorter that the T36's with their FIM job so I'm really curious to see how they turn out, and whether it'll be a detriment as the weather gets cooler. I'm planning on giving them some molasses this weekend and a top dressing of more homemade compost under the mulch.
The girls got a mixture of Big Bloom, Seaweed/Fish, and their first bit of molasses. I certainly could have done the molasses sooner, in hindsight I should have done it first week of flowering.
It's really interesting having these side by side with the T36's. These were FIM'd and are shorter and bushier, whereas the topped T36's are taller and leggier. I'm not sure if it's because of the difference in technique or the strain, but the flower development on these is further along than the others. These two plants seem to need less nutrition than the T36's, even though if I recall correctly Fast Buds said this one was a heavy feeder.
These past 6 weeks have flown by. How fast they came up during those last 2 weeks of veg was astonishing. Given their difficult start they more than made up for it. That being said, these plants could definitely been bigger and I'm not expecting too much as far as yields, but it's been fun nonetheless.
So I think it's evident that FIMing was not the best option for these girls. I'm not going to get much of a yield from these 2 plants. I feel like from now on if I do autos again that maybe I should just let them do their traditional shape, because with my setup and feeding (or lack thereof) it seems like it just eats up more time and energy than it's worth. And never, ever germinate my seedlings under someone else's care😣
They were fed 2x this past week and I think their color looks good so I'll just give them some molasses today to try and make these babies sugar up as much as possible. Some of the upper pistils are starting to brown and I want to get as much out of these girls as I can with the time they have left, which won't be too much longer😩
Got these seeds to test out along with T36 and unfortunately didn't go as planned. First mistake i made was leaving them with someone else to germinate. Second, I FIM'd rather than topped and it really didn't help this strain therefore the low yields.
That being said, upon vaping a little of it the other day it has a nice sweet and earthy flavor. No psycho-activity, it just settled behind my eyes for a few hours of relaxation.
Well, I really feel like this one was a bust for me and I'm very disappointed with myself. FIMing obviously was not a good option for these plants (it was a mistake) and I never should have left them in someone else's care as seedlings. It seems Autoflower CBD strains are just not my Jam, I'll leave them to the indoor growers. These were at about 40-50% amber trichs so I chopped them down. Good thing I did because as I was trimming off some fan leaves I found a few aphids. Not Good.
So yeah, pretty disappointing. But hey, it is what it is, I tried it and I'll give you more info when they're dry.
They are performing like ( nearly ) all High CBD automatic strains ive been testing.... staying small ( i got from the most plants average 8 grams or so)
I planted al lot the last 2 Years
The only one who got me is the Sweet Seeds Red Pure CBD--------they are looking and smelling lovely, yielding very good
and the effects of smoking them are absolutely great... Instant stress relief.........
@Mrs_Larimar, Good to know! And your Red Pure CBD grow is beautiful😍 I really like the concept of autos for my climate but vigilance seems to be the key with the strains I've tried so far (4). I've always been curious about Sweet Seeds Sweet Nurse Auto CBD, but I'll add Red Pure CBD to my list too!
@Fast_Buds, and thank you for having more CBD strains! I love the CBD Crack (or as you call it now just 1:1) great feeling, relieves nausea, lifts mood and very relaxing. And dare I say that I had the best sex of my life with it...?😆😊😉
it is not your fault....... The low Thc// High CBD strains are new... and most of them are like your strain.....believe me....hahaha i was growing agood number of them and most times happy to get 5 grams
we already talked about it...
