First real grow, CMOG You will see a 2nd larger pot in the first few weeks, this is BS (Bermuda Sour) that ended up being male. I initially started them off under a 2ft 19Watt draw LED I picked up just from a hardware store, then realized I wanted to do this seriously and bought the smallest QB I could find with the proper Samsung diodes, the spider farmer.

Feit Electric 2ft LED, 19watt draw used during first 2 weeks of veg, then quickly switched to the Spider Farmer QB. I hadn't started any nutes at this point yet, I was ordering things as the grow was happening.

Continuing with aggressive training. I wish I had let it establish a little more of a spiral before I went ahead and topped it. Initially it was going to be an experiment, a topped+LST'd CMOG vs only-LST'd Bermuda Sour. Advanced Nutrients started, the recommended using all three each time, so I did that at half the dose. Later in the grow I wised up and started actually looking at the NPK values once I got into flowering and began giving less Nitrogen.

Grow tent arrived, CMOG is nice and neat looking, tiny leaves. I planted the cutting from the top, one of these is sex'd later in the journal so you'll see that result. BS=Bermuda Sour bagseed, this was my better plant that I moved to a larger pot. It had a very potent smell even at this stage, but ended up being male (I started this journal 9 weeks into my grow).

Veg going along really nicely, good color. I flushed them once, to also give it a spray of Spinosad and a dressing of DE for some gnats I was seeing around the tent.

Veg growth continued strongly. I began taking cuttings pretty frequently but soon stopped keeping them in the tent because they required so much moisture and it attracted more gnats. You can see the fly paper up. I began managing cuttings in a separate area. More and more I am leaning towards keeping my pot and plant sizes much smaller next grow, focusing on maybe 3-4 plants in 1 gal containers and just 3-4 weeks of veg instead.

Lights flipped end of last week. I should have probably started flower a week earlier, as I am pretty close to the lights by week 9 The sex'd cutting I had flipped 12 days earlier, putting it into a dark cabinet by itself at night.

Some week 2 flower pictures, specifically the defoliation as flowering kicks off. Things are stretching like crazy. I have not been following the maxim of avoiding pruning/defoliating during flowering, I even cut off 2-3 weak looking stems that had started to show pistils in week 2. We'll see how that works out...

The small plant at front is exactly at the end of week 5 of flower, a sex'd cutting that I decided to flower The large plant is on day 24 flower, lots of bud sites but I think I'm in for a lot of popcorn buds, we'll see. My first real grow.

First grow, flower week 3. I counted 18 colas today, for a 1.7gal pot and only 75watts of LED, would it be bad to remove 3-4 of the weakest looking ones? Or to remove some of the budding sites lower on the branches that don't get much light? Worried about popcorn buds Thanks!

All photos from very end of week 4, I'm going to try to keep this schedule to see progress more easily. Previous week photos are from 4 days ago rather than 7. I noticed burnt tips on the cutting, I think from nutrient burn (versus K+ deficiency). I cut back the dosage. I realized I've been winging it in terms of nute schedule. I began adding just 0.5ml of Micro and Grow this week as I realized some of the micronutrients like Mg, Ca and Zn aren't in the Bloom. I did a couple days of water-only after I suspected the burn. Two colas are 4-5 inches from the QB at this point. I tied them down very loosely to the tent poles so that they lean slightly away. I think the low wattage of the QB allows me to go a lot closer than the recc'd 12-16inches. I don't see any burnt pistils or leaves on those two. I also increased airflow between the colas. I usually had the fan pointed towards the tent walls to avoid wind burn. I think my stems would have been thicker if I had more movement from the beginning. I have an oscillating clip fan arriving soon that will replace the floor fan. I continue to run the inline fan (w/ carbon filter) at the top of the tent 24/7 to draw out heat. The tent is open most of the time during the day too, with a fan in the room.

I began an 11/13 light schedule yesterday after reading some stuff about pheno expression and speeding up bud formation at the end. Temps have gone down outside and my room is at a nice average of 81F right now, trying to watch humidity. The big girl in the 1.7gal pot is filling out a bit, day 35 flower. The cutting in front that is 12 days ahead is now at day 46 of flower and i'm seeing some amber hairs now, maybe 10%. I'm seeing a little bit of nutrient burn on the cutting, less on the main girl, I began feeding every other day. I am not going to do a flush, based on some reading I've done. I plucked off lower popcorn buds in the middle of last week and everything seems fine, you can see what I cut in the last pic

It gives a warning before you enter: "Once you joined a contest you will not be able to edit or remove content form your diary." Does this mean I won't be able to continue updating my journal if I enter? I have a few more weeks of flower left. Also, do they ship to NYC? Thanks

Hey Growmie, No, it means you won't be able to change the diary your using for the contest or the picture being used, you will be able to update your journal as usual. Hopefully, that answered your question and feel free to ask for advice anytime, and remember ..."Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time"

Is it ok to continue removing popcorn budsites during week 5 of flowering? Am I risking a chance of hermie? I want to remove just 2 per day, every other day, maybe 5-6 of them total. I always pick a best answer, Thank you!

Take these small flowers from the lowest least light penetrated parts of the plant, leaving all that have direct light. You also need to remove those fan leaves from down low as well as any others blocking light to a flower. Yes doing a little a day of pruning is always wise and on days the plant has been watered/fed. Look up "monster cropping" and try a lighter version for your first try, removing basically everything that the lights don't reach.

I noticed one leaf with a lot of tiny white spots, that's actually been like that for weeks...I inspected it closer and saw 3 little black moving dots on the underside. I'm pretty sure it's spider mites. So I mixed up some spinosad and sprayed down the lower leaves only, avoided the buds, and cleaned the whole bottom of the tent. I think it was fairly localized. I'm not too concerned, just going to watch carefully. Nute-burn is slowly advancing at the tips of all the leaves, I cut feeding down a little. I can now see why people flush, I think stuff just builds up in the soil at the end. I'm setting up a Blumat auto-watering system for an upcoming vacation, so I will be feeding just straight water while I'm gone. I'm testing it out this week while I'm home. I realllllly hope everything goes well. I got a usb microscope to look at trichs. I can find maybe 1-2 amber heads only at this point on the cutting that's 12 days ahead. I may harvest the cutting in 1-2 weeks. I added another half hour of darkness, so it's a 10.5/13.5 schedule right now. I will probably keep it like that till the end. The cutting is fattening up in its last few weeks of flower, and the main plant has fatter tops than the cutting had at that stage. I'm feeling better and better about potential yield, the grow is going well overall, proud of my girls.

Yellowing leaves started appearing, you can see what fell/was plucked. From the trichs on the cutting I think I still have a ways to go, very few amber heads, and still tons of white pistils everywhere too. So I did what people don't generally recommend during flower, I fed it more nitrogen. I thought the leaf yellowing was too rapid and I think I still have 1-2 weeks to go. The main plant has always had fairly pale leaves throughout and it got worse this week, along with some continued burn?/K def? I'm not doing a 2 week flush either, maybe just a few days of water only in the last week. The cutting has no yellow leaves and has been filling out nicely, super proud of it. You can see the blumat inserts in place, I tested it for a few days, water only and it worked fine. I actually think that run of "flushing" led to the leaf yellowing. I have small pots for how big the plants have gotten which I'm thinking might be contributing to this sensitivity in terms of nutes. flowers on the main are getting heavy, the weaker branches are kind of leaning against the bigger ones. I'm considering putting some stakes in place just to prop them up and ease the mechanical stress.

Quick and dirty update because I'm about to leave on vacation. This is 3 days before I usually update, so not a full week. Buds got so heavy I had to add stakes and ties. I'm a proud daddy, hopefully they survive the vacation. Still very few amber trichs even on the tiny clone that is 11 days ahead. 9/4 update: It survived the 6 days alone fine, I only put the bare minimum amount of water in the tank because I was afraid of potential leaks, and it ran out. The soil was the driest i've seen it when I got back but everything was upright and leaves looked alright. I decided to cut one of the clone's bottom buds to get a more accurate look under my scope, since I'm seeing a few amber trichs when looking at the top buds. I've included those pics. The amount of amber really varies a lot on different sites on the same bud, with some pics having none, others having a few. It's really hard to be objective about it. The mother plant actually looks more developed than the clone, even being 11 days behind. A majority of hairs have turned orange and I can see amber trichs as well, it's very hard to get the scope back there to get an accurate look without it shaking like crazy. I need a tripod or something for the scope itself. Smell is increasing. I might harvest all of it in a week.

This is the post-vacation update, plants started to lean so I staked them up. Trichs are still with very few amber, except on the sugar leaves. I'm getting antsy about harvesting, and took a bud from the bottom of the clone when I got back to get a closer look, but it's still not ready. I feel like it had more amber hairs earlier in the week, now it looks like there's some new pistils coming through still. For practical purposes I want to harvest in a week if possible, hopefully I start to see more amber. I've been doing water only for the past 2 weeks You can see some of the next round of plants on the bottom right, one is actually showing pistils today after 12 days under 11/13. Once the clone is done I'll move in another and begin feeding them properly.

Finishing soon, it's the end of week 10 of flower, smell is intensifying. I harvested two of the bigger branches with completely yellowed leaves, the trichs from those are the ones pictured, I wish they had a little more amber, but I'm finally seeing some in most pictures, but def much less than 10%. I hope I'm not harvesting too early but I have family coming soon and would rather not having buds around hanging to dry stinking up the place. The clone is at week 11 day 4, the one with the ruler next to it, I decided just to harvest it entirely. It could also use more amber. It is heavy and big, I'm excited to see how it looks after drying. I'm not going to include it in the final weigh in. I have a deadline coming up and want everything harvested by the weekend, I'm going to let the rest of the mother plant develop for a few more days only. oh, I also had a spider mites scare. I found some leaves in the back with white spotting, and even some white deposits on the leaves, pictured. It scared me and so I cut off anything with a hint of dots on it and even harvested one of those branches. No webs, and everything was isolated to specific leaves mostly. Tiny little red guys The next round of plants are already in the tent towards the bottom and are showing pistils. I'm going to try multiple small plants next round. I also have a single white-widow x blueberry seed that is showing root, which I will either grow out as a female, or use it to pollinate one of the CMOGs so I can generate some seeds for future grows. I'm tired of keeping cuttings around already.

I harvested the whole plant over the weekend. It could have maybe gone another week but I'm under a time constraint. You can see the new plants on the right, just clones this next round. The one clone from this grow was harvested last week, it came out to a little over 6 grams, grown in a 0.71 gallon pot, I was surprised it wasn't more for how thick it was. You can see the total harvest from the clone pictured with a quarter next to it, and the main fat cola from it in the front. I am not going to count this in my harvest total on here since it's a diff sized pot. I only threw it in the tent because I wanted to see the sex earlier. With the clone and the few branches I harvested early from the main plant I have a half ounce right now. I imagine there's at least an ounce drying in the box. I'm hoping I make it to two ounces total though. I can't smoke yet but comparing my dried buds to what I usually buy, mine has much more crystal but no where near the density. It smells very nice. The actual harvest post will be next week once I have everything dried and trimmed. Cheers!

Update: I finally got to sample the crop and I am extremely happy with the results. It's as good as anything I've purchased. It is a great feeling to think about the grow and all the effort that went into it when using it. I brew my own beer as well and it's a very similar feeling to that. I'm proud of my girls. ...Anyway, effect wise I feel a strong body feeling, and it hits my eyes right away. It's my preferred effect, I like to really feel the presence of it, and the slowing of my movements. I'm attempting to produce feminized seeds from clones of this so I can save these genetics for future grows. I'm switching up strains for the 3rd grow, BlueberryxWhite Widow -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Done! My very first grow and I am very happy with the results. I got 1.57oz from the main plant and an additional .22oz from the clone, for a total of 1.8oz. The stuff smells niiiiice, very...narcotic like? I have a jar of some BC Diesel that smells like blueberries while this one actually does have more of a diesel like smell to it, with some pine and citrus notes. I haven't actually been able to smoke it yet due to work related things, so it's doing a proper cure before I will even touch it. The buds I harvested early lack that intense smell so I'm glad I let it go longer. I had about 8 grams of trim which yielded a whopping...0.25grams of hash, haha. I used bubble bags. I have a round of clones from this plant in the tent at the moment, already flowering nicely, so I'll be adding that whole journal soon too. Next adventure is growing out a blueberry x white widow seed and either propagating that, or if it's a male, using it to pollinate one of my CMOG ladies for my first foray into genetics. Cheers!
