It’s not much to look at, but this is my vegetation area. It’s nothing more than a 2x4 snap together shelving kit from Home Depot. I use the bottom section and the top holds my nutrients and water. I got the silver insulation stuff there too, but you’d be better off with just plain bright white whatever, instead of this reflective material. The ballast is a standard 24”, four light t5 hood. Because I only have one flower area and I don’t want the hassle of dealing with dozens of small plants, I normally let them grow until it’s time to transfer. In this case, I ‘ll take a bunch of cuts to barter with. They’re kept in half gallon pots with coco coir while growing in veg. The coco slows the growth down compared to pure perlite, which has failed me miserably in the past for vegetation efforts. It also affords me the opportunity to be able to leave for a few days and not have to worry about the heartbreaking reality of coming home to find an dehydrated, wilted mother plant. From half gallon pots they go to 3 gallon perlite hempys, veg’d for a week or so and switched to 12/12.

This is the most efficient method for me to grow at this time. I have contemplated some various modifications for the soilless medium and will be using them sometime in the near future. The ultimate endgame is to pull 24oz in a harvest limited to this 4x4 space. It’s rare to hear someone pulling more than 18oz, but with the right high powered strains, it seems like a long term obtainable goal.

My current grow is in the final weeks of flower and it’s just about time to take clones to replace the ones that will go in to the tent. The last time I took cuts, either the Clonex or the peat plugs that I used was bad, leaving only a few surviving, including this blue dream that I got from a friend, who lost his cut and now needs one back. I also borrowed an aero cloner from a friend that’s never been used, so I’m going to test it out and see how well it works.

I currently have 11 moms in the veg area, but I can only keep a total of 9 plants in the flower tent. I know from my current grow, that there is definitely 2 that I can get rid of; both being two of the three kiwi skunk phenos. I also have some liberty haze phenos that will go in this time around. I will continue to use minimal nutrients without any boosters or supplements other than a nutrient base and CalMag plus.

I was finally able to take clones today and did a nice flush on the girls in flower. The turbo klone was pretty easy to clean and set up. I only need one of each, but took a lot of cuts just in case and to barter with. I also ditched the two kiwi skunk phenos because space has become a bit tight now and I just popped some new beans that will be in the grow after next.

The clones are doing great so far in the aeroponic cloner.
