Here I am again with another diary where I will try to apply Nebula's mainlining manifold with 8 colas. I've been reading a lot about mainlining over the last months I hope I can have a great harvest. The plan is to do 6-7 weeks of vegetation and 8-9 weeks of flowering. I have upgraded my set-up with a grow tent 20x32x62", it is a perfect fit in my closet. I got a 440 cfm exhaust fan and a carbon air filter, I am also using my 4" exhaust as inline fan. I will be feeding the plant with the NutriNPK brand which is a powder nutrient, and CalMag from General Hydroponics. I won't give any nutrient until week 3 of vegetation. NutriNPK have a specific feeding schedule that I want to follow scrupulously. The first feeding is for Max Growth 23-15-11, then week 6-7 switch to flowering with Bloom Booster 0-50-32 for 2 weeks, then Bigger Buds 0-18-36 for 4 weeks and Bloom Booster for 2 weeks then flusing. I spent hours on the web to buy the best growing media and Happy Frog potting soil from FoxFarm seems to lead in that area based on what I've read so far. Some reviews said they would add a little bit more permits and worm casting so I add some. Third I will shock the plant with some pretty serious stress when I start the mainlining training like Nugbucket did. I want to fully switch to flowering in week 6-7 which leave me with week 3, 4, 5 and 6 for training. From the third day of week 5 I will start to decrease the amount of hours of light by 30 minutes everyday Vegetation week 1 The first week was crazy hot outside and I don't have a cooling system (I wasn't prepared for these high temperature this summer). The seed took 2 days to sprout out in a wet paper towel. Then I putted in a Jiffy pellets for the germination in a homemade germination dome. The temperature in the dome was between 27ยฐC and 29ยฐC, RH between 80% and 90%. 2 days later I planted the sprout within the pellet in a plastic cup with a lid with the idea to keep RH above 60%. Unfortunately the heat in the tent has reached 33ยฐC this week not really an ideal condition for the completion of the germination process and the cotyledons got burnt. The growth has stopped because of the damaged cotyledons,Il stared water it with coconut water to jump start it back and refreshment until week 3 where I will the nutrient schedule

Grow Questions

Summer is super warm and not windy. I have a humidifier, i am foliar spraying her with aloe vera and liquid kelp but unfortunately the 3rd node leaves are already burnt. How can i make sure the leaves will still help her going through the mainlining training stress properly?

might be a root zone problem. Heat won't cause those spots. if you don't let top 1" dry, start doing so.. 20% runoff waste and repeat. avoids buildup, keeps roots happy. I am not familiar with your ferts, but if you can look into their labels and deduce PPM of what you feed is in a normal range, this is my best guess.. and just a guess. do google and look for more info in addition to questions here. (also, not elgible for the GotM contest, so if you like my solution, do give the 'answer' to someone else, please)

I switched to flowering 2 days ago. On the defoliation side of the training, when there are grow tips that are growing from an under node, do i keep them or do i remove them? I don't want any larfy buds and i want the plant to focus into the 8 mainlined colas

Yes you can defoliate and prune up to about 3 weeks into flower. I Usually leaf strip then about 20 days in I'll prune all the larfy weak nodes underneath. This focuses all the light on top of the plant giving you some sexy buds with no popcorn buds underneath. I learnt this the hard way lol check my diary if you need any help . I mainline

Hi @HueyBrown, The main-lining looks nice, it has a really nice structure (that's what I love from this technique). To be honest, I'm not sure that the defoliation was super necessary. From the photos of the previous weeks, it seems the leafs weren't blocking that much what was under. What kind of light do you use exactly? For the watering, considering your temperatures, I'm surprised she doesn't even drink much. I'm following the grow now, looking forward to seeing the buds fattening up ๐Ÿ‘

@Frenchie, I see what you mean about the wattage. Heck no don't buy the book too expensive lol. There's enough great diaries, websites and YouTube videos with step by step Schwazzing technics tutorial ๐Ÿ˜œ

@HueyBrown, for the Likesuns, the wattage consumption might be written directly on the lamp itself or in the manual, it is mandatory I guess. I wouldn't say Watt doesn't matter, it is still a good indication of what you can expect. The important thing is to look at the real consumption. If it was really 600W from the wall, that would be overkilled for your grow tent for example. Thanks for the link, I actually saw it when I did my research after reading about this technique (not going to buy the book though ๐Ÿ˜‰)

@Frenchie, I feel like the Likesuns provide maybe 300W. I figured out later on (of course after the purchase) that Watt doesn't really matter. For my next grow I will do more research and follow the reviews. Here is a good guide for schwazzing technic https://threealight.com/pages/ultimate-guide-to-schwazzing
