Well, boys and girls and those who don't differentiate, it's Weed Doctor Sam here and I'm about to fail gloriously or succeed by the skin of my teeth. This being my first grow -- of any kind, let alone a hydroponic grow involving (potentially) advanced training techniques -- I fully expect things to go wrong. And, well, golly... wouldn't it just be fun to watch? Tune in week to week to see what goes wrong, what goes right, and what goes just luckily enough not to fuck up the whole grow. Update to this week coming at the end of Week 1. Until then, may the rain fall soft on your fields.

My PPMs are reading 600 in the DWC reservoir, which seems high. Tap water reads 380 normally. Doing a top feed system so the roots will reach the top feed tube in about 2 days if they germinate. Should I do a complete res change or just top up with pH'd RO/distilled water?

I dont do dwc or hydros at all, but if it was me in ur position i would just add RO water untill i got the desired ppm. Good luck tho. Stay lit hydrogrowmie.

We have a sprout! Tropicana Banana sprouted between 10pm last night and noon today. Can I turn the light on now, and start the 18-6 schedule tonight or will it fuck it up if I turn the light back off at midnight tonight to begin the 18-6 schedule?

Yup as soon as they are "sprouted" they are ready for light.. 24-0..18-6...20-4.. You choose the veg schedule.. as long as it's more then 12 hours of light she will not go into flower.. All the light schedules are for is to simulate the changing of the season.. so when you flip to 12-12 in a couple months the plant "feels" that autumn or fall is coming so it flowers..

Was on vacation this week so excuse the Snapchats from a friend who cared for the plants. Had a low humidity & high temperature issue this week. Ended up realizing the 324 CFM fan I bought is WAY too powerful for my 72 ft3 tent, which only needs something like 80 CFM pulling out. Also, my air cooled hood is being "cooled" by warm air from the tent, through a carbon filter I don't need until way later. So I might rearrange the fan and remove the filter for now, just to pull air straight from outside the tent through the hood, out the other side. Later I can install a smaller fan for outtake and the carbon filter. Other than that no real issues this week. You'll see they really blew up in a few days!

I finally got a new certified TDS monitor and figured out that my last one was cheap and unreliable. I'm getting much better readings for this part of the veg cycle (600-700). Running pH a little on the high side to rectify what I thought might have been a slight magnesium deficiency caused by pH Down-ing the shit out of it before I went on vacation (got down to like 5.5 which I figured would fix itself as alkalinity levels in the water rose). This week I finally proceeded with the first of the mainlining steps outlined in the Nebula Haze tutorial on Grow Weed easy. The plants are freshly topped and their remaining growth tips are tied down. Now we wait and see how they respond in week 4!

For mainlining, after the first cut, do I need to move the soft garden ties out as the new growth tips grow? The green crack is really shooting out in recovery and I want to keep it in it's manifold shape as it does. How many days between LST sessions essentially?

depends on how fast those stems get woody. I've had some that get quite rigid quickly, and others i could wait a week and still bend it around with no problem -- even if not mainlining, i mean i could shape it to do so had i wanted to given the flexibility. LST is simply shifting apical dominance by manipulating height of node(s). You can do it as you feel necessary. Too much too early can shock a plant.. if it stops growing for a second or two, you were probably too early for that sort of stress.

All in all going well. Made a potentially big mistake by breaking 1 of 2 main growth tips on the Green Crack manifold but my fix seems to have worked. Tropicanna Banana continues to grow nicely into the manifold shape. (Back-filling past weeks so excuse the brevity)

Having some heat issues with the sustained summer heat. Turning my 1000W HID down to 50% to help alleviate. Seems to have helped, we'll see if the root growth responds!

WEEK 3 of flower (since flip) It's becoming pistil-city in there, at least on the Green Crack. The Tropicanna Banana seems to have recovered its vigor after the early heat issues but it lags behind by about a week. Been defoliating and supercropping a bit to maintain an even(ish) canopy, resulting in some fuck-ups but a lot of learning! Using plant yo-yos to support some of my more abused stems. Really excited to see what the next few weeks bring!

Canopy management has been a bitch and the results are an uneven, but full canopy. Am I advised to continue LST until the canopy is even or, given that it's almost been 3 weeks since flipping to 12-12, should I avoid further stressing the plants?

You can keep it tied down right up to harvest...I accidentally left a wire to one of mine. Just don't bend the stem because it should be getting woody around before week 3
