@WeedDoctorSam, I've got a little chiller that has a pump circulating the nutrients through some clear pvc tubing. To drain my tank all im really doing is interrupting the flow from the chiller back into the tank by pulling the return line from the chiller out of the top of the tank and placing it in the blue bag to drain. I usually wait until my tank is less than half full when I drain it as it's less effort (less water to pump out, move and dispose of) and less wasteful also (there are still unused nutrients in there) When I can see air bubbles running through the chiller lines and the flow has slowed down significantly, I take the chiller return line (clear pvc tubing) out of the blue bag and place it back into the top of my tank, then I pump in my fresh batch of nutrients and im good to go for a few days

@Flowers_By_Irene, this is super helpful, thanks! "...then pump it in when the old nutes have drained and I've put my return line back" Can you say more about this? When the old nutes have drained = your grow tank 1/2 full or below? And what does "when I've put my return line back" mean? THANKS and happy growin to you too!

@WeedDoctorSam, it's a 10 litre folding water bag, I got 2 of them cheap on amazon. I started off using the bags to fill my tank and then ended up using them for emptying it. I take the return line from my aquarium chiller (pumped) and put it in to the bag to drain, usually 1 bag as I always drain the tank when its half full or below. I use a 12 litre bucket now to fill up my tank as it's easier to keep clean/sterile than the bags. I would usually swap out my nutrients every 7-10 days, usually with 1-2 top ups during that time depending on the level, temperature or how thirsty the ladies get. I was mixing the nutrient directly in my grow tank but now I mix them in a separate tank (50 litre storage box, same as my grow tank) and pump them with a small submersible pump and a few meters of hose. I fill my bucket (twice) with ro water, empty that into my mixing tank, add all of my nutrients, check my ph/ppm and then pump it in when the old nutes have drained and I've put my return line back Let me know if you need any more info! Happy growing! :grinning:
