So I am finally back! I will be growing a few plants and pulling off a quick head stash harvest before we move. I have started to make the transition to organic gardening practices because I have become extremely interested in soil science. If you are too, check out the book Teaming With Microbes, One Straw Revolution, and The Lean Farmer. I also will be using knowledge/wisdom from a huge collection of extensive research conducted during my 3 month sabbatical. My main inspirations are Rasta Jeff, Mendodope, Subcool, MinnesotaNice, Brownguy420, The Dude and Scotty Real, Tad Hussey, and so many more that I can't name them all. Thank you!
This grow will be using my own twist on the Subcool Super Soil recipe. For the most part I limited some of the nitrogen and decreased overall potency. Preparing the pot, I added my super soil mix to the bottom 1/2nd of the pot in full strength. Next I added some Light Warrior and made a 2" buffer layer with 50/50 supersoil to Light Warrior mixed. Then I added the other 1/2 of the pot with light warrior and mixed in about 15% earth worm castings (EWC).
Feeding for this run will be limited to top dressing organic, dry amendments, nutrient teas, aerated compost teas, and recharge on an as needed basis.
I soaked the peat plugs in some water with kelp meal. Before I placed the seeds in the plugs, I sprinkled Mycorhizae into the hole then dropped the seed on top to ensure tap root infection. Mycorhizae can be seen enveloping the seedling at the base of the stem and looks like a mold or stringy grey filaments. This fungi forms a symbiotic relationship with the plant by attaching to the plant root, extending a network of it's fungal roots out into the dirt, obtaining plant nutrients, then passing them back along the fungal roots to the plant where it trades the plant nutrients to the plant for carbon that the fungi needs. This fungi effectively increases the reach of a plant's root system exponentially. It is so symbiotic, just thinking about it relaxes me!
I placed the pots full of soil in the grow environment and watered them with Recharge 3 days before I planted the seeds in them. The light cycle and environmental parameters were set to run in theory to acclimate the dirt. I do this to help the soil settle, distribute moisture more evenly, and allow microbe life to begin to form in the pot well before the plants are planted.
I am really interested to see what a CBD strain smokes/feels like. My guess is that this strain will be perfect for some daytime smoking. Light THC, sativa cross, and a lot of CBD 👌. I am also very interested to try CBD whole plant medicine for my joint pain from RA.
Thanks for tuning in everyone! Glad to be back in the community! ✊

Updates/Observations:
-Water about a tenth of a gallon or so distilled water every 2 days alternating with Recharge every third time. Trying to keep the soil always slightly moist and never let it dry completely to keep microbes (and by extension the soil) at optimum health.
-Her leaves are looking a little off but from what I have seen first leaves usually look strange while the plant gets used to the environment.
-Cover crop staying small for now.
Cheers!

-Water about a tenth of a gallon or so distilled water every 2 days alternating with Recharge every third time. Trying to keep the soil always slightly moist and never let it dry completely to keep microbes (and by extension the soil) at optimum health.
-Her first set of leaves have weird light orange spots on them under the light but all new growth appears lush and healthy. No sign of insect damage.
-Biggest plant in the garden so far. Very big leaves ad shooting up tall.
-Other than the faster growth speed, nothing else indicates Sativa expression so far.
Cheers!

Grow Schedule to Date:
Sprout: 3/1/17 (Full moon)
Age: Day 25 as of 3/25/18
Updates/Observations:
- Water only for this last week after I observed some light nutrient burn on the lower leaves. I am going to let her get a little more established for another week at least before I increase the nutrient cycling with an active bacteria culture like Recharge again.
- I water about every 2-3 days a little bit to always keep the soil a little damp. As I understand it in organics, you don't want the soil to ever really dry out completely like with salt based nutrients.
- Showed sex around 20 or so (F)
- Still the biggest plant in the garden. Extremely vigorous growth!
- Inter-nodal spacing is medium, what I would say is perfect.
Worm Feeding:
- This week I fed my worms about a pound or so total of: Banana, mango, dill, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, aloe filet, green beans, covered in a dash of oyster shell and alfalfa meal.
- I layer down some canna leaves, layer diced up worm food, sprinkle dry amendments (kelp, oyster shell, neem, etc.), layer canna leaves, then replace bedding and they are happy!
- Creating the food layer protected by the green manure gives the worms a nice buffer zone to move freely through eating as much as they want.
- This method is inspired by Herbin Farmer on Youtube. I really enjoy his videos so if you have time, check him out!
Cheers!

Age: Day 45 as of 4/14/18
Updates/Observations:
- Water only for this last week. Burns are still progressing unfortunately and she is showing some Ntox (clawing)
- I water about every 2-3 days a little bit to always keep the soil a little damp.
- This girl go the pot that had the most of my custom super soil. It works well for photo period strains but not these autos. They just need a lot less. Maybe that offsets the cost of buying the seeds each run though I would doubt that in organics.
- Still the biggest plant in the garden. Extremely vigorous growth!
- This plant has the highest leaf-to-bud ratio in the garden.
- Tight flower and leaf clusters. Removed some inward growing fan leaves to increase light penetration and air circulation.
Bonus: I planted some lettuce greens in a tight circle (Google high intensity farming) around a group of peppers and threw the pot off in the corner of the room for fun.
Cheers!

Sprout: 3/1/17 (Full moon)
Age: Day 74 as of 5/14/18
Updates/Observations:
- Chopped her at day 74.
- Severely burnt until the end!
- High leaf to bud ratio compared to the others in this run.
- No distinct smell other than the sweet "new cannabis smell."
- Poor plant had soil that was just way too hot and they experienced burn and nitrogen toxicity leading to fairly larfy buds.
- Chopped to hang at 70 degrees F, 50% humidity for 7-10 days.
- Will post harvest report after they finish drying and star the cure.
Cheers!

She grew like a champ and did her best despite being in a really hot soil mix for her. I really enjoy the high. Initially it kind of has a Sativa head scramble feel which then eases after about 30 mins to give you a nice clear head to get errands and stuff done during the day and no one could tell I had smoked. Absolutely love this strain and may have to grab some more to see what she can really do with a solid soil mix.
I do think that Fastbuds has the potential to be a leader in the auto seed game but their marketing style just doesn't sit super well with me.
Really happy with this one and I would definitely recommend for a daytime chores smoke. She grows nice and tall, with great branching that clusters most nodes close to the main stalk. I would imagine this would make her a good strain for a sea of green method.
@GrimbolTheDruid, yea I’m curious as well. I’ve been wanting to take a crack at a CBD strain. I bet your right it’s a refreshing mid afternoon smoke. You’ll enjoy that smoke report that’s for sure!
@TeflonDonFarms,
Yeah she is the biggest in the garden with pretty tight internodal spacing. I am so curious to see how it smokes though. I’m hoping it’s a light refreshing daytime high.
@GrimbolTheDruid, sweet!!! 👊🏻 Must try it too! 🙃 sometimes is nice to get out of the confort zone 👍🏻 . Beautiful panorama by the way! Looks very peaceful! Take care! Cheers!
@CANNASIM,
I am absolutely loving it!
I definitely mixed up my soil a little too hot for the poor girls though. Maybe they will do better in flower when they really need the nutes but we will see!
I have only given them water their whole lives so far which is so crazy different from my previous grows. I can literally open the tent and water them in about 3-5 mins flat compared to the hour plus it used to take. I just give them about .2 gals water every 2 days or so and no issues.
The cover crop is just doing awesome and I love having that life there instead of bare soil which looks weird to me now haha.
Growers love!

Welcome back bro! Very interesting aproach, love Mendodope and Subcool, this organic aproach feels like more technical to do it right, but gives a much cleaner product, hope you enjoy, will be following to see the development! 🙃👍🏻 Cheers, happy growing!
@CANNASIM,
Thanks for stopping in!
I am super excited to see how this turns out as well. I am a little nervouis though with these being autos that my super soil is going to burn them. I tried to decrease the overall PPM of dry amendments but I am still a littler nervous she might burn.
As far as this style being more technical I would have to respectfully disagree with you my friend! I am someone who used to enjoy following a set schedule and making sure I wasn't 1 mL over what I was supposed to be watering with. With this style it is more like, 'a handful of this, handful of that' mentality which I am really enjoying. The more I start to understand plants as a whole, the more I realize they don't need my super special cannabis knowledge, they just need a few simple amendments and for me to get out of the way so they can do their thing!
Happy growing man!

There’s a guy named Nattie G CherryCheeks707 on YouTube. In 1 of his vids you can see chickens running under the plants with the straws in 50 gal pots .... all Indoor 😄😅😂
