M_Jane She's looking great. Second photo shows strong frame she's building.
I took two clones today and was going to defoliate, but I'm still really new at growing and kind of want to see what this does in the next two weeks before flower. I also intend to monster crop her after 2 weeks of flower, and want to be sure to leave clones....so when I finally do defoliate at the end of the veg cycle, it's going to be with future clones in mind.

M_Jane Turned the lights on in the flowering tent!! She didn't need to be fed, so I defoliated her just a little and will just let her go for the 2 week stretch before I prune again.
I'm trying the "Ponytail Technique" in lieu of leaf bending or defoliation (actually, in combination). Experimenting with how long to leave "ponytail" on. My research found recommendations from 2 hours to 2 days, so I went with 1 day, and it was too much...didn't kill the buds, but the leaves are a bit wilted. Will only leave on for 8-9 hrs from now on.

M_Jane Just chillin in the 2 week stretch...the "ponytail technique" works well, I really like it. I feed the girls in the morning and put the ponytails in where needed (usually only 2 - 4 per plant, just getting the tallest ones tied up); I take the ponytails off about 5 - 6 hours later. The leaves are a little wrinkly when they first come down (you can see it in this week's cover pic), but within a few hours, the leaves are back to normal.

M_Jane Her pH had been dropping for 2 weeks, research said it was probably too much nutes, but her ppm's were good. So I started flushing her with water before each feed, and it seems to have gotten the pH under control while keeping the ppm's in range.
Continuing the "ponytail" technique for a few hours every day ~ I over defoliated another plant and I'm a little gun shy now. This technique really works for me.

M_Jane Continuing the afternoon, water-only flush (in addition to her morning feed) and her pH and PPMs are staying within range. Ponytail every other day or so, taking them out each evening.
I was cleaning off some of what I assumed would have been popcorn buds from around the bottom, and I don't know if its the power of suggestion or what...but when I crushed those baby buds between my fingers, I SWEAR I could smell the purple Kool-Aid smell that her name suggests.
She doesn't really need anything beyond that right now, so I just go in and stare at her like a creepy stalker....

M_Jane Had increased her feeding last week to twice per day to deal with a pH problem and she's responded well, but I thought she looked like she could use more Cal-Mag, so I upped it....and my pH pen broke...ugh! So I can't tell what the pH is doing yet, but based on PPMs and looks, she's doing great. Buds are thickening up and she gets frostier every day. She's already got amber hairs!!! I've got her scheduled for another 5 weeks of flower!! I don't think she's going to need that long, but I'm going to let the trichomes be the final judge.
Edit: Added the pics from the hand microscope. Was looking at her through my jeweler's loupe and thought I saw amber trichomes!!! She's still scheduled for 5 more weeks of flower!! I don't have a dry tent yet!! OK....hand microscope confirms I can calm tf down...friggin' noob growers :)
