Shiva Skunk is one of my favorites so far. From the strains I grew so far, it is the best medical strain, so I decided to grow her again. Germination was extremely fast, about 40 hours after first contact with water she popped. The seed is more than two years old, so I'm especially happy because this indicates I'm storing them correctly.
She is doing great, but all the plants this time seem to be growing slower than in my previous grows. I hope the watering is ok. In order not to overwater them I'm very careful, but I'm unsure if the water really reaches the lower part of the pots. Anyway, growth should accelerate now so in the next days I'm going to soak the whole pot at some time.
Shiva is still leading the crowd. I love her open structure, will probably not need to defoliate if she continues to grow this way. Looks very promising so far.
Day 28. Shiva is looking gorgeous, she is also branching like a champ. All the bigger branches are more or less the same height, so they will get optimal light. She has this nice open structure I love so much; saves me from pondering removing leaves. It probably is wishful thinking, but to me she looks even better than the plants of my previous grows. But this is probably normal; every baby is the most beautiful one. Always 😇
Day 35. Shiva is the queen of the grow, so I moved her to the pole position in the center of the tent. She has exactly the same height as Jackie, but she is much wider and has a great open structure. I did not need to remove any leaves so far. She has a lot of branches and many bud sites, and the canopy is looking quite even, so I could not be happier. Looking forward to the next week which should get even more exciting.
Shiva is also doing great. She has more or less completed her stretch and bud sites are building up. The smell is incredible; she has "Skunk" in her name for good reason. Also removed a few lower leaves that started to turn yellow.
Day 49. Shiva is busy swelling buds. She already starts maturing, I can see the first pistils turn orange. She did not really live up to her promises; while she started to grow a great, open structure, she overdid it as she did not make use of the available space. There is quite some unused grow space which is a pity considering how tight it is for her companions. Not that many secondary branches, but great amount of leaves. I hardly had to remove any of them. She will probably get harvested quite early which will free up some space for the others.
Day 56. I have to confess I'm a bit disappointed by Shiva. While she took the lead early on and grew like a champ, she simply has grown too wide and is wasting quite a lot of precious grow space. Also she is a bit too fast now for my taste; I would have preferred her to swell buds a bit more, but instead she is already maturing and lots of pistils are turning orange. However this also has a positive aspect: I'm probably going to harvest her quite early, so the other two have at least one or two weeks of perfect conditions. Same procedure as always 😉
Day 62. Shiva has been chopped after less than 9 weeks; my fastest grow so far. Due to the early harvest, the buds are still a bit soft and she probably would have packed up some more weight if I would have let her go for another week, but pistils and trichomes are looking fine and I want to provide more room to the other ones. So this is fine, should still be a satisfying amount.
One of my favorite strains because of the great aroma and strong body effect. Growing her was a breeze and very fast. Harvesting 99g of first class grass after such a short time is simply great.
Rating after such a short cure time is problematic, because it will improve substantially in the coming months, but I try to take this into account. So while smell and taste are already perfect (a full 10), the effect is not yet where I want it to be. But I'm very optimistic this will change.
The great smell can impose a problem for people who need to perform a stealth grow: It is incredibly intense, it almost killed my carbon filter. It is a "skunk" for a reason!
Very recommendable for beginners; you cannot do anything wrong with this strain. I expect growing it again and again in the future. Love this classic.
The smell from this lady was so incredibly strong, I got stoned from just harvesting her 😃
Due to lower temperatures, drying was a bit slower than in the past and I finally succeeded not overdrying it. They got jarred with the perfect moisture level. So I'm still able to learn.
