Started some new beans. I only ran 2 plants the first time around, so I'm packing out my growing space with 8 plants for this grow, with staggered flowering(combination of autos and photos).
I used 2 plates and paper towels to germinate, 8/9 seeds germed, a lot faster than before, within 24 hours(it took 3-5 days with coir plugs).
I'm running 4x Auto Purple from Pyramid seeds, planted into 3gal fabric pots from the start. The small pots are the photos. I'll be vegging out 2x Bubba Kush plants from Seedsman and one of each of Dinafem's Gorilla and Critical+2.0, flipping photos when the autos are close to harvest.
Grow guardians have been introduced and the auto bubs are growing like mad :)
Plans changed a wee bit and I'm going full perpetual auto. I'd popped some photo beans and somehow fried them with the same lighter soil mix the autos are currently flourishing in(which totally beats me), so I'm deciding on strains to start alongside these gorls in a couple of weeks.
Three weeks old today and the growth has been non-stop! First signs of sex popped in at day 18 and I started LST. I think they're transitioning straight into stretch from here, I'm shuffling things about each day to get light to new growth. Being new to growing and autoflowering strains, I have no idea how much bigger they'll get, but it'll be fun to find out. They received their first feed today, at 1/2 lowest dose.
I'll also be starting some new seeds in the next couple of weeks. Blueberry, sweet critical, or white widow. Hmm
Wellp, I'm down to 3/4 pots after the plant which showed pistils at d18 went and sprouted some very male parts on d23, a genetic hermie trying to get in there early to pollinate all the girls :P Luckily I caught it before anything matured and put a stop to this dastardly plan. I'll just have to start more new plants.
The others are dealing well with my meddling, daily meddling in fact; checking for bollocks and training fast growth on the stretchy ones, tucking leaves out of the way and tying things down. I think they're all going to show the purple phenotype, if you can judge by first calyx colours.
I've been very light on nutes because they're in biobizz all mix - second feed was today, plus a little top-max for the most mature plant(bio-bloom for her next feed).
There are some yellow leaf tips showing on the new growth with the one plant, but they green up after a few days. I'm also hoping the stubby bushy girl gets her stretch on this week, since she started showing pistils.
I'm liking these Autos a lot. They're small but they're fastaf and absolutely gorgeous, especially as I've lucked out on purple phenos for each plant. I haven't seen any more herming, there are loads of bud sites coming in, everything's in full swing for flowering. I've also already written a note to myself about filling up the pots properly too :)
So, I've been reading up on possible pH/deficiency stuff because the colour change has been abrupt this week, fearing something very wrong was going on. They've had an increased feed of veg nutes for the stretch, and a lick of bloom, but organic nutes take a short while to become available. I'm still not sure if this is normal colouration for the phenotype, it looks like late-flowering stage fading on older leaves(where the light is strongest, I'm keeping an eye on it.
It's also the perfect time to start some new bubs!(1x each of 00 seeds Blueberry, Sweet Critical, and White Widow, all Autos). They'll have their own diary.
A looot of change this week. Plants are in full bud production mode and I can't take a good photo of them to save my life, but the colours are beaut.
Now we play the waiting and watering game.
Many more changes this week, fade is unreal. The colour on the buds and sugar leaves on d50 is like a dark, almost black, red wine, and it smells like berries!
I've given the last feed this week as going by the fade it's time to start the flush and keep a sticky eye on finishing pistils/trichomes. I might even take the top buds first and let the lower ones continue.
And what a little gem of a phenotype. I'm glad I tried out a lesser known breeder for these.
It's coming to a close for the auto purples this week and I absolutely loved growing these. Not only did they show off amazing colours and smells, they were easy to deal with, flowered and finished super fast, and I didn't have any issues with mould though they are sticky and resinous buds. I went ahead and chopped the most mature plant already. The other two are finishing up a little longer. Yield isn't amazing but it's something different. It's my second grow so either way I'm chuffed.
Official harvest page coming soon, when everyone's chopped and I've got some dry weights.
Really pleased with my second grow with a gorgeous strain. I didn't produce vast piles of dense nuggies, but I did get something very colourful and tasty. I recommend the strain if you want something a bit different, and fast.
