My last Northen Light grow was with Canabis USA seeds Northern Light regular. This grow is using seeds from Crop King Seeds Northern Lights Auto.
Soil is Fox Farms Ocean Forest.
Feeding with General Organics and Real Grow Recharge.
She is a slow starter but she is coming along nicely now. I expect her to start really growing fast now that I am giving her some nutes. Transplanted her into a 7 gal grow bag a couple days ago. Used Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil.
She is coming along nicely. Center of the main cola looks like it wants to start creating a bud. So far feed and water her is all I have done. I am not a fan of doing a lot of trimming on an auto plant. Maybe one day when I get more experience but for now she is staying on auto pilot.
Turning out to be a very easy plant to grow. Feed her and let her do her own thing. This is the second auto flowering strain form CKS that I have grown and they both are the same, plant them, feed them and forget about them. Cruise control growing lol
She is coming along nicely. Seems a lot easier than my first northern lights grow. Looks like she is about done with stretching and is starting to make buds.
Buds are starting up real nicely. Another 4 weeks or so and she will be ready :) She has the tent all to herself right now with the exception of a couple baby plants in a corner.
She is coming along well. Leaves around the buds are wilting yet the other leaves look healthy and fine. Hard to remember but I believe the last northern light plant I grew did the same thing and its a characteristic of the plant. Another 3 to 4 weeks and it will be harvest time.
She was just woken up and not fed yet so looks a bit droopy. Seen some yellowing fan leaves tonight. Plucked off the ones I seen. Probably two to three more weeks to go before harvest.
Seven weeks of flowering already, kinda hard to believe. She is coming along nicely and has another two weeks I would estimate. The buds are looking beautiful but they are not dense and packed like other grows I had. Kinda really wondering if switching from Fox Farms nutes to GHE go box nutes was a good move. Lets see how they look in two weeks. The jury is still out on the nutes.
This week spent a lot of time trimming old yellow leaves off. Way I feed my girls is Friday night they get nutes. One quart per plant. Then on Sunday night they get plain water. Tuesday morning they get nutes again and then on Wednesday night they get water again. Friday night starts the cycle over and is when I do my grow journals. It seems to work well for me. The dirt is never too dry. Every feeding I try to spend time sprucing the girls up. Trimming the old dying foliage off and just checking her out and seeing how she is doing.
So lets hope in the next couple weeks these nugs start putting some weight on. Smoking the last bowl of herb from my last Northern Light grow today and then I will be out :( (dont worry, have plenty of other strains of weed on hand lol)
She has been flowering for 8 full weeks now and she is just about ready to be chopped down. The trichones are nice and cloudy but has only maybe %1 red ones. When I start seeing many more red ones I will chop her down and start the drying curing process.
As can be seen on the side of the plant in the first picture is a propagation dome. Have a crown royale seed starting in it and will be the next grow in this tent. Hydroponic set up all ready to go!
I have grown northern lights before and this time I grew an auto plant. Here is what I see. An auto plant is easier because you can run the lights 18 hours a day and have plenty of time for plant care vs 12 hours running mostly when your sleeping and a far smaller window for plant care. Thats a pro for autoflowers. The neg is in my experience autoflowers seem to produce smaller yield. I was expecting over 100 grams of dry weight but only ended up with 62.8 grams. A lot of variable go into how much a plant will produce, I know that. I think using the nutes I am using has a lot to do with it also and I am going back to fox after I finished up one more grow.
Working on curing the buds now. I like to put them in a large bottle with a RH meter and keep them as close as I can to %60 RH.
Thanks no1ramsfan :)
So far I like the autos. Only grew a white widow so far but it was a lot easier than when I grew an non auto plant. Not having to worry about when to switch light schedule takes some of the growing load off :)
Luckiy I have 2 grow tents, One for my two auto grows, White Widow and Northern Lights and my other tent I am germinating Purple Kush and Crown Royale seeds for it. Have a mango tango plant finishing up in that tent at the moment and am trying to time it right to have the two new plants ready to go into flowering as soon as the plant growing in that tent finishes up :)
Once the seeds start and I can put them in solo cups will start a journal for each strain.
For 2 weeks that doesn't look too slow. I have started a veg "area" lol and by that I mean its just a shelf with a 300W LED light I just bought. Now I'm a perpetual harvester! Can't wait to start following your PK grow. I just started another of her. Have you grown her before?
@chopdoc, Thanks! 7 is a little big for my setup and needs. If I go bigger it’ll only be 5 gallons. How I’ve set it up is I should be bringing in 2-4, maybe more ounces every month or two. Which is plenty for my needs. I can’t wait to try em!
@no1ramsfan, Your girls are looking nice. Only thing I would suggest is using a larger grow bag next time like a 7 gallon bag. I cant wait to see what you get off them girls and how the smoke report comes out. Your doing an excellent job. Few more weeks and you will be drying your buds :)
@chopdoc, damn that sucks, but I guess it happens. I’ve been lucky so far, 3/3 for the PKs, 8/8 all together using the method they suggest. The two PKs I got now are way different phenos.. hopefully the runt one I got isn’t common. Smells great and I wouldn’t be surprised if the high is amazing but it’s so small and the nugs are tiny compared to the taller PK.
@Dead_Files,I saw that in your photos. I’m not sure how you’re avoiding windburn - I have little 6” fans and I had slight windburn on my top cola yesterday because one fan fell a few inches lower. I raised it up and a few hours later the leaves started to straighten out again. I don’t know soil very well, I’m a DWC Guy. So you might be right about underwatering. .38l sounds like nothing though. Not even a quarter gallon!!!
@@Chi_Town_White_Boy, strange when I put big fan directly on my plants I do not have this
I still remained on the position or it lacks water. u put only 0.38l per 24h personally I will put more, at least the equivalent of 5 liter per week 👍
@Dead_Files, I think it's wind burn. My plants get super droopy if the fans are aimed even relatively towards my plants. I'm curious to see what the final yield and output looks like. I would advise moving the fan away from this plant. You want a breeze in your tent, but you don't want the fan pointed on the plant itself -- it can't handle such a strong breeze. These leaves will make it more difficult for photosynthesis to take place.
Check this out, looks exactly like what's happening here: https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-wind-burn
Hey brother! Plants are looking a bit droopy. Maybe too much humidity? Or wind burn.. that fan looks pointed directly at the plant rather than in the room itself. Interested in your grow! Good luck!
Haha @chopdoc! That makes sense -- leaves are dying off as the buds are using the nutrients. I'm curious to see if my Northern Lights does something similar! I should start seeing that in the next few weeks. Will keep my eye on your grow since you're a bit ahead of me! Glad to meet here and be able to bounce ideas off each other! Take care, brother!
@@@Chi_Town_White_Boy,
The leaves around the buds that are forming and fattening are wilting yet the plants main leaves are as lush as ever. I think this is kinda normal for this strain of plant. I grew a different Northern Lights strain last September and if I am remembering correctly that plant also did that.
Actually smoking on the last bud from that grow today :) Its a huge bud so will last a few more days :)

I see we’re both medical men Lol. And for we who have the skills to perform surgery, is adjusting a timer truly too taxing a task?
I joke of course, but I allude to a serious issue - buy regular photo period seeds and grow them. Or don’t. But buy them at least or breeders will stop selling them. Then all we’ll have is autos and feminized. Then we are doomed
@growdoctordc, totally missed your post. Sorry about that.
I am lazy, I wont deny it lol but with auto's its nice to be able to use a corner of the grow tent for starting seedlings with an 18 hour light schedule. I have a non auto grow going on at the moment too of some purple kush yet thats on a 12/12 schedule so really dont want to start seedling in htat tent.. Im not exclusive auto but I am attracted to their ease.
Congrats on the girl! lol I'm interested in autos just not sold on em. Seen many grows where they don't auto flower and for me that'll kinda screw my rotation up. (I only have one tent) Although I must say, I have had ZERO issues with CKS. I'll be following to see how she turns out.
I am all set up to start growing DWC. One soil grow finishing up and then I wlll be only hydroponic growing.
The fan I try to keep from blowing on the plant itself. Its whole purpose is to get cooling air into the tent. Down south it can be a real bear keeping a tent cool enough for your plants.
And yes, she needed water. Was about to start cutting her down and I usually stop giving a plant any water 3 or 4 days before starting to cut them down and then it will take me 3 to 5 days to harvest one plant. My back can only take so many hours of bud trimming at a time :)
Normally my girls get 4 quarts of water a week. 2 of those will have nutes. The schedule I try to keep to is Friday night a quart with nutes, Sunday night a quart of water. Tuesday morning a Quart with nutes, then Wednesday night ia a quart of water. Friday rinse and repeat. In my opinion thats about perfect for a grow in a 5 to 7 gal grow bag.
This girl looks wilted because she was past her harvest date and was about to start cutting her down. Water has already been cut off to her for the harvest.
