Week 7 (2nd week flowering) was a bummer.
After the first week of flower was already amazing, this week tops it in any way. During this one week plant size doubled again. I love exponential growth. Now we had 400% length growth during the last two weeks. 80cm compared to 20cm height, that these plants measured during their 5 weeks seedling stage & veg.
Because of the Greenception GC Bar 8 is way more weak in deep light penetration, leafs in the lower levels age really fast. During this outstanding stretch, especially for the Zenergy (obviously a Sativa), I had to defoliate and remove lower side branches like on a daily basis. The LED lights put out such a nice spectrum, that upper leaves go from really tiny to really big in just a week or less. This might be a disadvantage of the superior light spectrum of the GC Bar 8 light. But honestly I like these super thick, super healthy looking fan leaves and try to let them in place until they are so weak that they would fall off alone in one or two weeks. I use my simple vacuum from housekeeping, to get in this dense canopy. Every leaf, that cannot stand the vacuum, is ready to go. All other leaves, that might not get a proper light amount, should stay in place to supply young growth with mobile nutritions like nitrogen. So it's important to look after these leaves on a daily basis to not oversee dead leaves, but also not to scrub all leaves at once. This is reserved for flowering week 4!
Bottomline, I need to have some space between the legs of my ladies to get properly airflow and no molding leaves that attract destructors and as a consequence of this harmful insects.
I really enjoyed seeing all the different genetics performing different during flowering induction. At this point I got to know, which phenotypes are stable in their Sativa/Indica ratio and which strains are more of a lucky shot and inconsistent. Really interesting, as this is my first CBD grow of my life.
