Hey everyone!😁 We are back with another cultivar / breeder to experiment with - this time we are going with Emerald Triangle Seeds - San Fernando Valley OG x Royal Purple Kush. I'm looking forward to this grow for the sheer fact the SFV OG is an all-time favorite - piney diesel cones that taste like citrus and make your mouth water - literally. I was able to sample some of this while on my trip to California and getting it "from the geographic source" was absolutely amazing. I couldn't feel my face after half a gram into a 1 gram pre-roll that come in a bougee test-tube, corked with a single match inside the tube with strike...mind you, this was pure SFV OG - little goes a loooong way. This breeder I'm interested in sampling more of since Californian breeders seem to have pretty stable genetics thus far. This was germinated for 18 hours and got half inch tap roots from being soaked in damp paper towel/ziploc bag method - in soil September 23rd - pictures are 6 days in. Some more info about the cultivar below:
Genetics: San Fernando Valley OG X Royal Purple Kush
Indica/Sativa: 70/30
Stature: Large
Harvest: Harvest mid – late September
Yield: Medium-High
Ratio: CBD 1% – THC 22%
Thanks everyone!😎✊
Hey everyone! This week has had some incredible growth on these guys with just a few watering's to keep the soil moist. I was getting a little worried the stretch was going to cause them to fall over but they quickly flushed water to their rootzone and started to grow rather quick. The trunk is starting to get thicker by the day as new growth develops. I may not have to transplant into a 600ml pot and just go right to the 3gal at this rate. Like I mentioned earlier, Cali genetics are strong - so this breeder line may be a future "cultivar discovery adventure" we'll put it. 😎😁
Hey everyone! This week has had great growth for being in the pot they were in. I did a transplant into a 600ml container to get some better root structure before finally going into the 3 gal fabric pots. The roots of these little guys were quite vast being in the square pot - main stem is very strong. I'm hoping to move these into the tent next week considering the tent is being used as humidor for the Pakistan Valley I cut down 4 days ago now (stay tuned for a harvest update on that diary soon!). 😎😛
Hey everyone 😃 I cleaned up the tent from the last grow, removed the carbon filter and found out I ordered a filter too big as a replacement - so I'm going to take advantage of the humidity during veg while I order another one and full steam ahead so far! 😛 They outgrew the little fluorescent light on my kitchen counter just in time to be put into the tent after the last harvest was able to jar...perfect timing! They've been going strong..about 10" and will let them veg a couple more weeks before transplanting into the 3 gal before doing the switch to flower. I think I'm going to top as well considering we got some strong sativa genetics in here (70/30), so I don't want to run out of room. Between the top and the 3 tier transplant...this is going to bring some strong bud I feel. 😎...Stay tuned!!
Hey everyone!😁 This week has been exciting to say the least considering I needed to do the transplant into the 3 gal rather early than expected. I noticed the plants were drooping the one day and looking under the pots, I could see roots coming through. I went with Fox Farm soil this time (get some Cali symbiosis going on!). The soil is incredibly rich - you can tell it's from Humbolt county (fresh forest soil). I added in my own soil additions (always always always organic) and things took off! They're strong genetics and getting robust by the day. The stocks on these are already little tree trunks. 😎😚 I will give them maybe another week or so, take some clippings and switch to flowering where she will go between 8-10 weeks in that state. If all goes well, I should have a harvest around New Years 👌
Hey everyone!😁 This has been a busy week with the grow! I got my 4" carbon filter replacement and repositioned the filter to the opposite side of the tent to allow more headroom for the light. I got things nestled there pretty good, moved the light carabiners around and gave the girls a good defoliation to get rid of the Jurassic leaves blocking the lower parts of the plant. The girls liked the response and have bushed out. 👌 I plan to top them next week as we're already at 16" in height and don't want to run out of room. I'll take some cuttings to keep this lineage going as the smell is incredibly strong and we're not even in flower yet😊. The genetics are definitely strong with this breeder / cultivar 😎
Hey everyone! so far so good 👌 I've noticed this week the smell has really come out and makes me a little concerned how flower is going to smell 😬 They've really bushed out with a ton of terminal crowns. I love the stature of these plants and will be topping next week to give me a solid 10 nodes. I removed the lower branching for uniformity (and for clones). We're at 21 inches in height so the switch to flower will be next week I think. A solid 7 weeks of vegetative growth with C02 added in veg....I can see the difference between veg and flowering with the C02😎, just need to watch I don't run out of room! Overall fairly straight forward week. I will start to feed her in flowering with just black strap molasses to give the mycorrhizae some beneficial microbes. Thanks for checking in!👊😃
Hey everyone! If there was one word to say with the events of this week - It would have to be "woah"😏. The plants have exploded in size after I topped them and started feeding just black strap molasses. 1 tablespoon in a 4L spring water jug that gets 1.5L every 2 days. They've realllllly bushed out and the tent has filled out nicely. The stocks I've noticed this week have gotten really thick as well - not sure if this is from the Molasses or the switch to flowering / top - It could be a combination of both, but these are looking to be the thickest stocks I've grown to date considering I got another 3 weeks of full growth until reproduction is in full swing. I'm looking forward to this cutltivar - lots of terminal nodes and I feel these buds are going to be big (apparently the RPK was bred specifically for the size of this cultivar - so SFV OG taste with the size of RPK nugs...exciting! 😎😝). Thanks for the visit everyone!
Hey everyone! 😀 This week the babies have exploded in growth and are stretching and looking furry. They got a nice little top claw going on with lots of growth popping up in between the middle. The side branches have grown out nicely and it got me putting the trellis netting in to spread things out and give some support for the canopy. I also did some clean-up in the middle so we get some better light exposure - she's bushy. There are a lot of crowns and I can tell the buds are going to be like bananas once finished😎. The smell in the tent is a dank skunk smell with a sweet, almost citrus pine to it. I'll keep feeding with molasses for a couple more weeks, then will let her strut her own power for the other half of her flowering cycle👌. Roughly 8 more weeks to go! I'm looking forward to the final product of this cultivar - has always been a favorite. 😁 Thanks for the visit everyone! ✊
hey everyone! 😁 This week has been fairly good to say the least - there was a big stretch for those first couple weeks but it seems to have leveled off now and bud mass has really started building early. I have some doubts if my plants may be hermied 😬 as I found a crown that looks a little odd. I don't see any sort of "balls" per say and any sort of ball currently is oval with a white filament coming out - so that tells me female. But finding this bottom crown makes me wonder (is it a cultivar specific thing? Genetics not stable?). I know SFV OG makes big buds as it is, crossing that with RPK makes them even bigger - the buds at 3 weeks already look pretty "big" in comparison to other cultivars I've grown. Any comments greatly appreciated as I'm a little dumbfounded with this. I could just be overly concerned or paranoid - if it ended up being the case of a hermie, this would only account for a learning experience and not a loss..I'd probably continue right until harvest anyways ✋. Thanks for stopping by everyone and please reach out if you've seen pre-flowers like this before (specifically pictures labelled "hermie?")
Hey everyone! 😁 This week has had some incredible growth and the terminal nodes just keep coming. You can really tell knowing the genetics as the bud structure looks like SFV OG and the top crowns have that RPK "Crown" look (for the peeps that know what I'm talking about and that RPK crown). I did another defoliation today to give better light to the lower half and free up some large crowns being blocked. I've had to tie a couple of them down as the weight is reeeeeeal. The smell in the tent is sweet, gas and skunk. I was surprised to see the buds getting fat already. Pistils are about an inch, so they're happy girls. I gave her some fish bone meal last week to avoid any cal mag issues during full reproduction. I would say she isn't stretching anymore, but building mass which is giving her some pull away from the light (this is good considering I only have 5ft to work with) Thanks for the check-up everyone! 😎👌
Hey everyone! What - a - week. 😏 The girls are very happy and stacking on mass by the day. I had to get the bamboo stakes out to give some better support early into the week as I've never seen this sort of mass rather early into flowering....makes me wonder if they'll be done around the 7 week mark (looking for around an 8-9 week turnaround). The smell is delicious in tent - skunky, sweet, lemon, some pine...it's like a salad going on in there 😎. I've tapered off on the molasses and been alternating every other week. I feel this may of been a great addition to the grow regime since it technically fed my bio-mass in the soil which could account for all this floral tissue growth so early on. Only way to tell would be to do the same regime a couple more times (get your 3 controls down) and see the end yield results using the same methods.....science yo! 😜. Thanks for stopping by everyone 😌
Hey everyone! This week has been great but had a little emergency that required some additional tie downs on multiple main cola's. I woke up in the morning to the ties completely untied on the stakes and the cola's bending for dear life. The knuckles on these ladies are very strong and was incredibly lucky here in my opinion.🙌 😇 I will say, ScrOG netting = resistance training for your plants = little bit of healthy stress = stronger inflorescence in the end 😈. I do need to keep an eye on these chunky colas as I've never had this issue before with it being so top heavy - they are getting really fat by the day and the tent smells wonderful. I'm thinking the plant on the left will finish a bit faster than the one on the right - but will be a good science experiment to have one really head high - the other being really body high as I plan to chop both down same time. I haven't checked the trichromes of each (will start tomorrow), but by the looks of things...I may be harvesting these ladies on New Years Eve....hip hip, hooray! 😜😌👌. Thanks for stopping by everyone!
Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays with your family! 😀 This week has been great - the smell from the tent has really come out pungent with a sweet lemon, pine, skunk...somewhat peppery as well scent (that beta-caryophyllene terp 👌). The colas are really stacking and bio-mass is getting fat by the day. The buds are super frosty and the end of the cycle is becoming very apparent with the leaves and pistil changes. I've basically fed this entire grow black strap molasses to give the extra sugar boost which inadvertently feeds the bio-mass. We will see how this turns out in terms of yield and potency come harvest time. Another week or so - trichromes are just about there 😎. Thanks for stopping by everyone!
Hey everyone - welcome back! This week has been quite delightful as the buds have really chunked up and the weight is REAL😁. We are right at the tail end of her cycle as today is day 56 of flowering. This cultivar has a flowering period between 8 and 9 weeks - trichromes are juust right👌 I plan to harvest in the next couple days to give some more swelling on the right plant. The smell in the tent is incredible - lots of different terps distinct to the nose from lemon, pine, sweet, fruit, musk, pepper - last couple days the fragrance is really robust, you can literally taste them. There is some really nice color that has been expressed as well - lots of purple with some leaves having a yellow/orange/purple art going on - really neat to see. 😎👌 Thanks for stopping by everyone - harvest week to follow! ✋
Hey everyone! Sorry for the late update - good old life getting in the way 😅. The babies have been officially cut down at day 69😏 and slow drying in the tent at 65-70 degrees with an RH of 55%. The harvest was rather difficult considering the sheer mass of the plants made one hell of an event getting the netting off. I knew we had some serious weight the minute I unbuckled the net ties and everything come in like snakes on a M'***** plane! 😎. The smell is beyond intoxicating with that classic SFV OG (Pine, lemon, musk, earthy,) with the RPK (kushy, fruity, berry). Wet weight of the plants: 1.5lbs and 1.36lbs!🙌😵. We are day 4 into the slow hang dry and the buds are almost there to "snap". I trimmed a delicious nug off to try - heavy too..1.1g!. Overall, I think this will be one of my highest yielding grows and the initial test is incredible. Cerebral, already got pasties and the pressure and tingles in my face bring me back to being in California summer 2019. Will post final harvest weight and trimmed product in a couple days or so😀.Thanks for stopping by everyone and your patience! 😇
So I will start off by saying this has been the strongest cannabis I've grown to date. The effects are incredible with a cerebral, energetic feel followed by a sedating pressure behind the eyes, fluttery warm face that lasts for honestly - hours. I got two beautiful Pheno's as well where I get the classic SFV OG profile (pine, lemon, musk, dank OG) and the other plant having that classic Purple Kush taste with a nice grape/berry undertone. This was quite the journey with a 69 day flowering time (I let it go a bit longer - zero complaints 👌)
Hey everyone! I'm bacccckkk 😁 - this is one incredible cultivar and Emerald Triangle Seeds really has quite the genetics! The grow experience was again, another great learning experience. The ScrOG netting really makes the difference with resistance training! I will be growing this cultivar again and looking into what more Emerald Triangle Seeds has to offer! 😎👌
This was a very successful harvest with some really narcotic bud - this half pound👈 will last me a bit
Thank you for letting me share my journey with you all - the support is greatly appreciated! 🙏
@CannaScuzzyB, You can thank CSI Humboldt for making S1 TK seeds.. I know eventually he'll do an S2 and then probably a BX1 and probably a BX2.. that guy is amazing. He'll help it flourish. Anyway.. looking forward to see how your grow turns out!
@StunFlower, Thanks buddy - hope all is well! They've really bushed out and got the tent all cleaned up. New carbon filter fan since the other one broke, had to move the babies to fill each side out (more so get them away from one another touching as they're bushy) and put the trellis netting up and will move down incrementally each week. 😀
Beautiful Christmas trees you've got there 😀 A tasty harvest is a great way to ring in the new year! All the best to you and your girls during the holiday season, buddy! 🎄💨
@StunFlower, The mass is real - never witnessed this sort of mass so early on in flower. I got another couple weeks to go but amazed at the progress. Couple of the colas are already the thickness of my forearm - so I can just imagine the end product. Definitely! - come to the salad bar ma man 😎
Keep a close eye on the strange lady, as long as you are not seeing any balls or bananas, you should be ok. Could be genetics, difficult to say. To me they look like females, not much out of the ordinary. Also not seeing the crown thing you are referring to, can you mark it on a picture what you mean? But its looking good for week 3 indeed! Keep it up!
@CannaScuzzyB, Thank you for the thorough explanation , I saw the pictures but I did not see anything that strange. By now either balls with pollen or bananas with pollen should have appeared if it were a hermie, trying to fertilize the producing flowers. Seeds will grow in your flowers usually, not where you pick the bud. I think its a normal calyx from a female plant if you ask me. Curious to see how they have grown! Good luck!
@Corks_Crew, hey man! - yea it's definitely strange (the pics are marked with the name "hermie?!") - but i've seen keeping a close eye on things for sure. I'm not seeing any sort of bananas and in terms of balls, I only see the calyx's that have the white hairs coming out of em. There is an oval shaped ball that i've been pushing against (no seed in there for sure) but I've seen that sort of calyx on other grows post harvest. You know when you pick a bud off the stem and there's that little nodule that looks like a nipple? They are definitely getting hairy and will be posting new week picture soon. They've definitely gained quite the mass and the stretch seems to have slowed down. I've had to tie some of the branches to the net as I'm noticing by the day the weight is real. Overall, I would expect to see bananas by now considering were just at the tail end of it growing in flowering (30-35 days roughly) - then its full on reproduction. Getting stinky as well and already getting frosty👌😊
