Really excited to try this strain: both for the colors and for the CBD. I’ve never had much luck with CBD before but I’ve only tried vaping cartridges. I’m hoping the full flower will help my anxiety.
So far thrilled with Sweet Seeds. Fast shipping and while I actually bought 3+1 free seeds they sent two packages of 5+2! So I’m going to experiment a bit with different techniques. I really bought these on a bit of a whim without worrying too much about getting a ton of bud, just thought I’d stick them down the side of the tent and see what happens.
A good week! No drama yet, happy with how they're coming along. B is definitely a day or two ahead, but otherwise looking good. Really looking forward to see how these get along.
Plant B growing like crazy and seems very happy—no problems so far. Plant A is a bit mutanty. I thought it was a little stunted because the seed case stayed on a little longer, but I’m not sure that’s the case. It looks like it now has two main colas forming and some of the leaves are misshapen. Now that the two main lines are shaping up I’m hoping it’ll settle down.
Plant A 10cm
Plant B 18cm
Well, an interesting one! Plant B has shot up and looks like it'll be flowering soon. I'm getting some dark spots on fan leaves--not quite sure what's happening there but will be keeping an eye on it. Plant A has managed to mainline itself twice, I guess: I now have three main colas, despite not having topped or anything. I wasn't planning on it, but I've started LST to help separate the colas a bit.
Well! Some good news and bad news with these ones. Plant B has shot up and is flowering nicely, but it's struggling with a nutrient deficiency. I was pretty sure this would be an issue with the lights and pot size, but wasn't prepared for how fast it'd go. Anyway, I think I've got it under control now (more or less). I've defoliated a bit and am trying to keep it nice and stretchy so it fits well in the tent with the other stuff I have,
Plant A is also flowering, and the three main colas are doing their thing. It's a bit stunted and also struggling a bit with a nute deficiency. My main problem is I'm too nervous to just dump loads of nutes in, but equally it's not drying out super fast either. Slowly working my way up on the nutes and seeing what works!
Might just be wishful thinking, but hoping that I'm seeing some of the Red Pure Auto coloring coming in!
Wow, look at the color! Really pleased with these. I've upped the nutrients and defoliated a bit (Plant B more than A) and they both seem happier this week. The leaf spots have disappeared and I'm seeing good growth and some trichromes popping out. Really pleased!
Wow, what a smell! They're really popping, especially Plant B: really thick pistils. The black is receding a bit on Plant B, but you can still see how thick it is on Plant A. I haven't seen trichromes covering so much of the leaves before! They're generally healthy and happy, but some rusty spots have just started appearing high up on Plant B, so I've added a bit of calmag. I'm feeding once a day or once every other day, depending on how wet they are (it's been cool and damp here weather-wise). I defoliated a few days ago as well. Overall happy, looking forward to seeing how we go!
Another week closer and happy with the speed of these things. A little rust on the leaves but it doesn't seem to be spreading and they're putting out plenty of growth. The smell is super strong: very sweet and a bit mineral-y. Trimmed some leaves to make sure the buds get plenty of air and light. Other than that, not much to report!
Another good week! I can’t seem to shake some spotting on the leaves, but otherwise they seem happy. The trichromes are thick as hell and the smell will already knock you off your feet: super sweet grape. I’m glad to see decent bud development on plant A, the one that topped itself twice. It’s all gnarly but looks happy. Considering they’re in 2L pots I’m really surprised how well they’re doing! Can’t wait to try. Trichs all still clear at this point.
On they go! Starting to see one or two amber trichromes. The buds are getting fatter too. Still smells really strong. Other than that, just another week! Hope another two weeks to go.
Chugging along! Forgot to take pictures of Plant B so will update later. In any case, a few amber trichs starting to pop up and buds are fattening. I think I’ll leave it a week or two to chop.
Still going! Plant A is looking a little crispy but there's good bud in there, and it's still going! This is definitely a strain with a lot of leafiness. They haven't been super easy but considering these are in 2L pots I'm pretty happy. The smell is still very sticky sweet grape. Probably going to chop next week (or earlier if I get bored!).
Merry Christmas folks. I hope you all find some peace and joy today—thinking of family far away and all those we’ve lost this year. But it’s a beautiful day and that’s not nothing. Next year let’s hope for health, safety, and legalization! L’chaim!
Less poetically: no big news, they’re still going! Plant A is very crispy and really leafy—not sure I’ll get much of anything. But we’ll see! Plant B going strong and looks great.
I’m a fan! I have to admit that the sweet grape candy smell was so strong during growth that it’d be too sweet for me. But the smell and flavor have mellowed a bit. It’s tasty and smooth. A bit on the sweet side for sure but not enough to make your teeth hurt. There is definitely some THC in here (which I’m happy about—I wanted something high in CBD but with low THC). After a bowl I felt generally amazing without being bombed out. Overall very happy!
EDIT: after a month of curing I'm a big fan. Woody and herby flavors are coming out more strongly--this is seriously tasty weed. It's got to be well under <5% THC, but it's great to have a nice fat joint and still be relatively clear-headed. It's also nice for mixing with something with higher THC, just for the flavor and the body high.
Well, this was a fun experiment. I've got a load of the Red Pure Auto CBD seeds left (one is already going, will pop another in the next few days), so excited to see how different techniques can make a difference. I only used 2L pots (because I had some, I didn't want to take up a ton of space in the tent, and I just wanted to see how it'd go). I'm trying next with 5L, but honestly was pretty happy with these. Plant A started off a bit mutanty and never really recovered, but 45g wet wasn't so bad considering. Plant B did fine and am pleased with the harvest. Updates after drying: 35g dry plus a load of trim.
For my next batch, I'll see how they do with the 5L pots and the dynomyco. If it's worth topping I'll give that a shot too. If these have a bit of THC that'd be great but otherwise I might try some of the 7% THC with the 1:1 CBD ratio. But from a growing point of view very happy with this strain--thanks Sweet Seeds! If you want to send me some more CBD autos, I'd be very happy to grow 'em and let you know what I think! 😉
