Hello, and welcome to my PEV Banana OG diary! I'm very excited to give this a try! I'm a long time gardener, but this is my first serious attempt at growing cannabis.
I placed a seed in a Rapid Rooter and then put it in a covered germination tray. After 24 hours the seed popped. I left her in the tray for another 48 hours and then transferred it into a 3 gal fabric pot which contained a mix of Fox Farms Ocean forest and Nature’s Living Soil. I mixed a dose of Great White in the water to encourage strong root growth. She grew at a nice rate the first week, and looks healthy!
I’m really looking forward to seeing how this grow turns out. I don’t want to worry about nutrients, which is why I’m using a living soil made with Nature's Living Soil. That way I can concentrate on the plant and not worry about burning her. I don’t know if this is a mistake or not. Time will tell.
This week went quite well. I watered around the edge of the peat cup every other day just to encourage root growth. I was careful not to overwater and just let her grow. So far, she is doing just fine. I’m just trying to be careful not to overwater her. I’m having a lot of fun so far!
This has been a fun week, watching this little one grow. So far, she has been easy to maintain. She’s gotten 2 cups of water every other day, mixed with a little molasses and Great White. I’ll be looking at topping, or LST, her soon. She’s a beautiful green and growing strong. I love this little plant.
I did some LST on Day 23 To open her up. I was going to top her, but I’m worried about the deadline on the contest entry and didn’t want to add another week to veg. I tucked leafs, wherever I could throughout the week. Sadly, while tucking I accidentally damaged the top of the plant, so I went ahead and topped her. Let’s see what happens! So far, she seems to have responded well to the topping, and appears to be growing strong. I’ll flip her to 12/12 in a week or two.
This was another fun week. She took topping very well and is getting bushy, so I thinned her out a bit to increase light penetration and flipped her to 12/12. I would have liked to veg her another week, but I don’t think I have time in order to enter the contest. I think she’ll be ok. She’s a vigorous girl and I’m hoping for good things.
This has been another fun week with this plant. I had to defoliate her a bit, to keep the bud sites open, and performed some leaf tucking. She’s starting to level out and I’m keeping the Lux at about 50000. She’s getting 4 cups of water every 2 days. She’s lush and green, and just a beautiful plant.
This was an exciting week. She went into flower at day 47 from germination and looks great. I am concerned that the living soil might not be enough to get her through to harvest, but time will tell. I am happy with the way I trained her, which gave me 10 colas. I'm hoping for a nice harvest. So far, she's been a joy to grow.
I enjoyed watching her grow this week. She's still stretching and I'm hoping for a bit more before she stops. I removed 3 leafs in order to open up the middle, and did a little leaf tucking. She seems to be doing well with the water only living soil method. I did add a banana peel to her water in order to give her a little more potassium, although I'm really not sure if that helps any.
Hi again! This was another fun week. I think she's done stretching. I did some major defoliatuon to open up the lower bud sites, and she looks to have taken it well. She's getting about 0.25 gal of water, with a little molasses and a banana peel, every other day. I fear I may have overrwatered her a bit, but nothing major. She looks fine.
I still regret flipping her so early. She is so beautiful, I would have loved to veg her for 2 more weeks, but the contest deadline makes time a comcern. Even so, she's looking great and I'm reallying enjoying this.
Well, I noticed some clawed leaves and think I may of overwatered a little bit. I made sure to let her dry out all the way, and that seems to have helped. The stretch is done, and now I'm hoping she puts on a bit of bulk. I didn't have any other problems. She seems to be doing well with just the Natures' Living Soil, but I'll withhold judgement until the end of the grow. I am really enjoying this, and I wonder why I haven't grown for years...oh, that's right. lol. Can't wait to see how she finishes.
This week, she looked a little light green so I made a compost tea out of the Nature's Living Soil. Hopefully that will pick her up. I love this plant. No other problems this week. She just kept going strong.
Well, I think that compost tea may have been a little too strong. She's showing some signs of slight nutrient burn. I should be able to fix that easy enough. I also noticed my light was too low. I was over 100000 lux and I think I may have stressed her a bit. I moved the light up a few inches. Lux is now about 69000.
I'm getting closer to harvest, which I am planning at around day 65 of flower. I checked her under the microscope and she is coming along well. Shes drinking a lot, and needs about 1/4 gal every 3 days. The smell of ripe banana is pretty strong, and her fade is obvious.
This was another fun week. She is fading hard and harvest is right around the corner. My tent smells like ripe bananas and her buds are very sticky. Her leafs are clawing quite a bit and my last microscope check showed she was ready. I didn't want to take her too far amber, and I think I got it pretty close to right. She was a thirsty girl, taking about 1L every other day.
This plant was a pleasure to grow. Germination was fast and easy, and she grew well the entire time. Even with my mistakes, she kept growing strong. She responded well to LST and topping, and wasn't picky for nutrients. I only vegged her for a little over 4 weeks because I was worried about the contest, and that is my biggest regret. I wish I would have vegged her for two or three more weeks. She would have been a monster.
She did not have any pest, disease, or mold problems. She was strong and resilient throughout the grow. Great genetics.
I dried her for a week, and trimed up 25g of nice dense buds and kept 6g of trim for edibles. The smell of ripe bananas is very evident.
She has a sweet kushy taste after a week of drying. I can't wait to try her after a good cure. I took her to about 40% amber, and the effect is a relaxing head high and a pronounced feeling of muscle relaxation. A potant strain indeed.
I am very pleased with this strain and will run again.
This was an easy grow for a novice grower. From the start, she was strong and grew at a rigorous pace. I made the typical newbie mistakes, like over watering, but she handled it with ease. She had an awesome fade and the smell of over ripe bananas filled my tent. She weighed 120g wet, and yielded 25g of good tight buds and 6g of shake.
Looking back, I would have done several things differently. Foremost, I would have vegged her for at least 2 more weeks. I kept her small, and I wish I wouldn't have.
This was a super soil grow, and all in all, it worked well. That said, I think she could have used a few more nutrients during mid-flower. I think from now on I will just use super soil for my autoflowers.
Overwatering seems to be a vice of mine. I need to watch that carefully during future grows.
I was happy with the way I trained her. The combination of topping and LST worked well for this strain.
Overall, I'm happy with this grow. I harvested almost an ounce of tight, fragrant buds and had a lot of fun along the way.
@Dr_Boom, i wanted to try that one too! but they didnt include it in my last testers and they raised prices alot on their seeds and shipping after i put them on the map on the Usa forums and left 1st review on seed finder eu, but thats what u get from soulless corporations these days. Ill do better without them i promise just like the last people i left Thank God.
