Trying out 3 seeds i found i a bag. Seedlings are still a bit small because of the wrong soil consistency and PH (which im gonna fix with the next waterings). I might start giving them a bit of Nitrogen rich fertilizer next week.

Repotted the plants into a 17l pot each, with good soil and expanded clay this time. Unfortunately i ripped many roots of the plants while extracting them from the small pots, i had to foilar feed and keep them in shade at high humidity for a couple of days; they look fine now. I also started adding some general purpose vegetative nutrients. I hope they will start growing big soon enough.

Everything is going well, i FIMmed my plants to get more colas and in a couple of weeks i thing i'm gonna start flowering them. I can still recognize no signs of the sex of the plants, i hope they are all females (since the pre-flowers take longer on females). I fixed all the soil PH adding the right amount of Alcohol vinegar and lemon juice to the water-NPK mixture. Lastly i'm starting the LST to get the new colas some space and light to grow well. See you next week

This week has been very satisfying: plants went BOOM and produced alot of plant matter and new colas, FIMing definitely payed off. I obviusly had to do some LST + supercropping to get them to a nice flat shape. I also had to reduce the nutrients because i experiences a really slight nuteburn and i dont want to deal with that. I thing i'm gonna VEG another week and then start flowering. Happy planting :)

Plants are doing really fine, i definitely have to do some defoliation since they got really really bushy and i'm scared i'll get some kind of mold or fungi on my leaves. I flushed each plant with 15l of PH plain water, and i'm switching them to 12-12 to start flowering. We'll see how they do next weeks.

Flushed the plants and started the 12-12 light cycle. I also did a bit of defoliation (to the leaves on the bottom of the plants that were getting zero light) and switched to a flowering nutrient. Sadly Nr1 and Nr3 look like they are growing male flowers but its still a bit too early to cut them out eventually. Nr2 is a mistery, it still has no sign of flowers. Cya next week

In the last week of my diary i posted some images of sex organs of my plants. Since i'm new to this and i dont want to fuck up i want to recognize the sex of my plants since i want a sinsemilla harvest. Can you help me sorting the plants's sex out? If male, should i cut them?

Hey there so females will look elongated and pointy, eventually a wispy hair will pop out, males are short and rounder almost like a spade on a card deck. It looked like you've got some of both in your space. If you can get the men out do so and quickly, if you wish to save their pollen get the men to a secure place, because once that pollen hits the air...Whoowee god help us all. I love that you're doing bag seed, how brave of you being that you're new to this. :)

I cut away the other 2 males i had. Sadly i'm left over with just one plant which is now stretching upwards like a beast and not producing alot of flower matter. Hopefully buds will start growing in the next weeks

She's still stretching out like a beast (15cm in one week) but she started producing a lot of flower matter lately. Nutes quantity is ok (no burn till now) but she's drinking alot more in the past 2 weeks.

My plant is still doing pretty good, didnt notice any problems or hermie flowers at all; i think it also stopped stretching. I am a bit concerned about the size and distance of the buds from each other, they really look like spaced popcorn, hopefully they'll grow much bigger.

Buds are still quite spaced from each other but they are definitely fettening up. Tiny sugar leaves started growing all over and the other leaves really start to look frosty. Smell is increasing quite well as the amount of water the plant needs. Branches were also bulking up in the middle under the light so i had to space them outwards with a bit of LST (strings). Even tho buds are spaced im quite pleased by the amount of them, they really are alot, especially on the main 5-6 colas.

Late update. Plant is doing fine, Buds are getting bigger now, and even if they seemed very widely spaced at first, now they dont. Colas are getting quite heavy and i'm afraid of breaking branches just by moving the pot around. I also lollipopped the plant in the bottom 1/3 and she didnt even notice it, no shock or sufference at all. Maybe i'll lollipop some more next week.

Short update: buds are getting heavier and heavier since she's closing up to harvest. Should i start flushing sooner or later? I've also raised my "lollipop line" another 4-5cm and again, she didnt even flinch.

Nothing new really, Pistils are starting to turn orange and curl in, about 10-15% of them have changed atm. Since i'm closing in to the harvest window i started giving her sugar water with no nutes today and i'll see how it goes in the next weeks. She's really getting thirsty lately, i have to water her every 4 days or less, otherwise she starts wilting a bit. Smells really strong.

Damn this was a scary week. I started giving water with molasses to my plants and 2 days later i noticed leaves started yellowing fast, some of them had rusty spots on them and got crispy. At fisrt i thought it was a light burn but i was wrong. When i went to water my plant with plain PHed water i found out that the water coming out of the pot had a PH of about 5.2!!! I dont know where i went wrong, im sure i checked my water-molasses PH before adding it to the pot, what could have happend? bacteria feeding on sugar made alot of lactic acid and lowered my ph? i have no idea. A soon as i found out tho i flushed the hell out of the plant with about 60L of PHed water with quarter strength nutes until the water coming out of the pot hit a solid 6.0. It's been only one day but i see no sign of the burn getting worse. I'm still keeping my lamp at 50% power to help the plant recover. Do i have to keep some precautions about water molasses? should i do anything else to help my plant recover?

Last stretch! i think we are there. Today i took some zoomed photos with my phone camera and looked at the tone of trichomes. Thay started having a faint amberish glow. I dont want a heavy body stone so i think i'm in the right moment. Pistils are 70% darkened and turned in. I will put my plant in sleep mode for about 48H with lowest RH possible then im gonna cut it. Wish me luck

It is finally over, time to can things up and start the next one. Overall i thought growing weed was harder than it actually is. I only messed up once and the plant came out fine anyways. Next time, selected seeds! The only thing i can complain about are the airiness of the buds, nothing rock hard or very dense, but since its my first growth from a random seeds i guess its fine, i have space for improvements.

You're doing very well! This plant will yield quite well. Your feelings about the sparsity of buds are well founded however. Improvement upon your technique would be easy for the next go-round, and some of the things you can implement now. Depending on how much room you have, making the plant even wider (tying the branches down a inch or so outside the rim of the pot, would make a lot more light to a lot more of those nodes. Defoliate so that the middle gets a lot more light, as many sites as possible, without doing too much at once and shocking it. It helps a lot to start in vegetation so that it becomes accustomed to the pruning. Lollipop more aggressively based on how far your light is penetrating into the canopy. Next grow... eliminate the nodes that are destined to need to be chopped while they're still tiny, so all the plants energy goes into productive nodes.

@NewbieMJ00, oh trust me the 3W LED blues had me in their clutches and terrible penetration caused me no end of pruning. I feel you on waiting until next grow, though. Sometimes you just need the meds too much to want to risk stressing it.
NewbieMJ00

@Jaindoh, thank you for your advices. I really really appreciate them. I'll try to do better with my next grow; since this is my first one, i did not want to shock the plant with too much defiloation or pruning. I tried to tie some branches outwards but i cant anymore since my grow space is very limited; hopefully mylar reflecting walls help the lateral branches get some extra light. I have to improve alot on light penetration, since my 3W led diodes are quite weak and cant penetrate more than 15cm downwards in the foliage at the moment.

Looks like you got more like 2-3 weeks left. You could start flushing, or you could feed it the post-main-flower-phase, and weaker, nutrient levels. Maybe once or twice before you stop. Due to the fact that you're in soil, the end effect of feeding it another week probably would only make it less yellow at the end. In my experience, I doubt it will improve your yield or quality. They do need nutrients during this stage, but the soil's loaded with them. Even if they finish slower than 2-3 weeks it's almost certainly fine, and the worst you need to do is go "okay they look like they still have 2 weeks left, I'm gonna feed them once and then resume flushing".

Sugars often have really low pH, but you’re almost at harvest and I wouldn’t panic over dying fan leaves. You may have used too much. Now that you’ve flushed her so thoroughly you want her to dry out. If keaves curl up and dry out remove them. Trim them all in advance of harvest when the triches are anbering near where you want. They will continue to after harvest. You’ll do fine I can tell. Enjoy I screenshot your close up and zoomed in on it. You have a lot of white pistils, and the overall tone of the trichomes is white not amber. She’s not done, but soon. If you intend to keep growing invest in a digital microscope. $40

@NewbieMJ00, Vinegar is not ideal for pH lowering. I’m not sure why but my girls never liked it. I use muriatic acid. One gallon will last a lifetime. I use a small funnel and pour it in a one ounce eye dropper bottle. It takes about 8 drops to adjust 2 gallons of my water. It’s caustic so take precautions when transferring and using.
NewbieMJ00
NewbieMJ00commented7 years ago
@growdoctordc, thank you for your helpful reply. Yes, my intent is to let her dry out now that i've definitely overwatered and trim off the burnt leaves. I also have a 20x lens that i use to check the trichomes and they still looked transparent to me, maybe i'm just wrong. What i cannot understand is why my ph went so low, i used 1 teaspoon of molasses per gallon of water and i adjusted the ph with vinegar to 6.2. Something went wrong i guess. ii think im not gonna use sugars anymore for this run, just plain PHed water.

Don't forget, flowering period starts with actual formation (by your photos, the week 10 update). I myself made this mistake on a diary or two and counted them from where ( changed the lights. This will effect the expected harvest date, often by 2-3 weeks. All those white hairs make me think you have a bit longer than you'd expect. All the more reason to only harvest by trichome. They may be white when it's ripe, may be orange, may be starting to darken.
NewbieMJ00
NewbieMJ00commented7 years ago
@Jaindoh, i'm gonna try to harves based on the trichome like you said, since pistils are often not reliable for checking the ripeness. I have a 20x magnification lens i'm gonna use to check her daily until i'm satisfied with the ripeness
