Hey! First Grow here! This is something that has interested me for quite some time. Now that it's legal to grow in Canada, I decided it was time to get started. As mentioned, I'm growing 1 Cheese auto femme and 1 Super Lemon Haze auto femme from Canuk Seeds. The cheese was a freebie, but I've seen some journals of that particular strain and they seem to do quite well and Lemon Haze is one of my favourite strains, so I wanted to give it a go to start. Cheese - Genes: Skunk#1 X Afghani#1 Variety: Indica/Sativa Height: 80-100cm Flowering Time: 8 Weeks Super Lemon Haze - Genes - Lemon Haze X Ruderalis Variety: Indica/Sativa Height 80-100cm Flowering Time: 7-9 weeks Growing Medium I'm running these in Promix HP-M with no alterations. I went this route because it's nice and airy, but mainly for the PH adjuster. As a new grower, it's not something I wanted to have to fuss with too much, so this seemed like the way to go. Because these are autos, I went right to the 5 gallon pots. Didn't want to stress the babies out from transplanting a bunch of times, as I've read you don't want to do that with autos. Light - I'm using the new Phlizon PL-1000 Dimmable Full Spectrum Grow Lamp with Samsung LM301B. This light is unreal for the price. It's go solid light output, it's quiet, it doesn't get too hot and it's waterproof. Perfect for someone who doesn't have much experience as it takes a lot of the guesswork out of things. I'll be running on a 18hour light schedule straight until harvest. I'm starting it off at 80% power and will see how things look moving forward. Ventilation - I was trying no to break the bank too early, so I will be strategically maneuvering 2 usb fans until pre-flower and then I will get a ventilation system with a carbon filter going to help with the stink and the humidity. Nutrients - I'll be using the General Hydroponics Flora Series + Cali-mag on a reduced drain to waste schedule. It sounds like a pretty foolproof method, but I'll be honest when I say that this is the one thing that makes me the most nervous, so I hope it is! Training - Will be doing some LST. Tie down method and possibly scrogging depending on how everything goes. Not much to report about week 1 The cheese seed was rather vigorous and popped quick. The SLH was a little behind, but they both came in nicely in the first few days. The main hassle was temperature/light/humidity control. I put the pots on milk crates until they popped through the soil to keep them warm and then I dropped them down as the light seemed a little too strong for the seedlings. As I'm not using oscillating fans, it took some trial and error, to get the heat and humidity at a consistent level without having a fan blowing directly on the plants. After many tries, I found a way to place the fans and manipulate the vents in a way that bounces air off the walls, which keeps nice airflow, keeps the heat/humidity at a comfortable level and keeps a light-indirect breeze running across the pots. For watering, I used the mister that we spray our snake tank with to lightly wet the soil around the seedlings when they were looking dry and nothing more. I set my sleep schedule around the plants for week 1 to make sure my light timer was working properly every day. It was! To close off week 1 - there is a certain romance to the germination process. It was really just a really nice experience overall.

I see a couple little flower hairs coming in on the cheese plant. I've read that you are not supposed to train auto-flowers very far into flower, but I was hoping to get one or more bends in over the next week. Anybody have any thoughts?

you can train the plant(s) anytime after the 3rd week, these are autos so be careful as some autos do not like to be messed with, hope that helps

I'd love some insight into how I am doing, if anyone cares to throw a little constructive criticism my way! This is all very new to me, so research, message boards and these journals is all I've really had to go by. I'd love to hear what you think. Thoughts? Advice? Cheers!

Snapped the main stem during LST, right below the main cola on SLH(just starting flower). Braced it with ducktape and propped it with some bamboo. At this point, everything else looks fine, so I'm just pretending it's not there. How worried should I be? Anything else I should do?

Hey there , First of all your plant looks really good and healthy πŸ’ͺπŸ‘Œ You did good using the tape to fix it and considering your plants health , I suppose it will recover soon . The only thing is that this might cause a bit stress to the plant during this phase , even more being an autoflower variety . There’s nothing else you could do right now so you just need to wait and see ... And BTW , always make sure you train your plants before watering them and couple days after last watering . When the branches contain lots of water , they become crunchy and not so flexible πŸ˜‰ Good luck πŸ€

I've noticed that the petioles on many of the fan leaves have turned red. They're not showing any other signs of anything being wrong. Anyone have any info on this?

This is from light exposure as far as I'm aware, I've had some strains stay green on the stalks, some turn red where the light hits, some turn purple. As far as I know this is normal and caused by genetics. There are a couple of deficiencies that could cause this also but your plant does not look like it's suffering.

My plan was not to defoliate the autos, as I've read much debate on this. I'm curious if it's in my best interest to take a couple of these bottom guys off that are touching the pot for a bit better air flow. Thoughts?

Don’t be afraid to defoliate autos. I usually see better results when defoliating leaves directly blocking light to bud sites. Hope this helped. Happy Growing Cheers! πŸŒ±πŸŽ„πŸ”₯

Had some light strain earlier on, but now im leaning toward a deficiency. Been feeding on a low-dose flora series schedule with clean ph water for every other feed. Just had clean water yesterday and nutes 3 days before. Dry out between feeds. Nitrogen? Calmag? Other?

Hi there, I see some burn tips and Your pH seems to be higher for soilless.Maintain your pH around 5.5~6.0 for soilless and check also run off pH and ppm.I think those brown spots could be Maganese lockout due to high pH substrate.Happy growing... ✌️

@TheChronicHunter, probably going to chop in the next 10 days! I for sure stunted it early on, so it won't yeild as much as it could, but it's a beautiful little plant nonetheless. Keep your ph in line and don't overwater and you'll be laughing.
