Original schedule was to keep Granddaddy Black in veg for two more weeks. However, she is big enough at 110 cm tall. Her growth also slowed down. I think the 25-liters pot had reached it limit to support her. So, I am putting her into 40 liters container and in flower tomorrow. Granddaddy plant 1 has healthy leaves. It means that I have not pushed her hard enough. I am cutting off a few twigs putting them to root. Hope they would survive so I can if Granddaddy Black could survive higher nutes, 40 degree heat, and a foot of rain each month in the wet season. Condition this past week, weather got hotter and was more humid. Good thing that it had no rain. Temperature at 36 C high and 26 C low with 70% average humidity. Granddaddy Black responded by growing an inch a day. The smaller Granddaddy spent second week in flowering spot. And she is in flowering mode. During transition week, she stretched 18 cm and is standing at 13 cm tall. Figured out that smell was a sign of plant distress. Seemed that under attack by bugs, Grand Daddy Black send out insect repelling smell. After a spraying few rounds of concentrated microbe spore, Granddaddy Black was “quiet” and no longer smell. I overused the microbe and there was white powder residue on top of the leaves. Underneath the some leaves, there were dead mites coved in blooming Beavaria bassian fungus. Same thing happened to aphids on my hibiscus plants. However, no sign of bug damage on Grand Daddy Black. She has superb resistance to insects and mites. During the same period, other plants were attacked by aphids, mites, white flies, miniature grasshoppers, and caterpillars. Note on mixing types of microbes, antibug fungus type microbes does not work well with anti-mold microbe. In raining season, both bugs and mold attack plant at the same time. And buds are lost. Regardless of the effort required to go organic, I still refuse to use chemicals. This is a hobby and I rather be extra safe and am not after cost effective solutions.

This company @OriginalSensible has amazing genetics... really amazing! Nice plant man! Keep up! Lucky plants they have the proper outdoor opportunities ;).... and.... lucky you! Lol

@Ferenc, they recommended what would work for my poor man set up in wetbug infested tropical condition. Vegging is going very well. I reserve my judgement until I see how the strains behave in flowering. Although I am very optimistic about @OriginalSensible Seeds. Their Bruce Banner Fast version is indomitable against mold and bugs with super potent buds. Indeed very sensible.

you should try spinosad for thrips (or spide mites but i think that's thrips you got there) @Med_in_Tropic could be sprayed up to two weeks before harvest
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@HerbalEdu, life cycle is shorter with higher temp. Decay rate is also faster. My interval is 1 week. I don’t want to give “sublethal dose”. It would inly speed up hatching rate and build bugs immunity. So i do it fully or not at all. This time i plan 3 doses. The aged plant does not need it. Leaves hardened already. After spray spinetoram, plant smell lessen. No bugs = no immnunity response. I need to spray aspirin to stimulate terpene actions. @GYOweed thanks man, it is a good trick to increase potency..

@Med_in_Tropic, never heard of abamectin, but it's already really efficient without. i sprayed my plants with 15 day interval and it totally eradicated infestation in all of my tent with first apllication and i haven't seen remaining living insect or new hatch when i sprayed the second time. spinoteram is a derivative of spinosad on the dow's exalt notice it say you can use it up to 3 day before harvest and it's certified for the food industries https://www.certiseurope.fr/fileadmin/FR/Telechargements/Fiches_etiquettes/Exalt_-_Fiche_Etiquette.pdf my spinosad notice have details for many vegetable, it's like trees (apple, pear etc.) 2 weeks before harvest, most underground plant like garlic, onion, potatoes etc. 15 days to 7 days before harvest and finally thing like strawberry, tomatoes and a few other 1-3 days before harvest i think you can safely use it 1-2 weeks before harvest with cannabis (prolly even shorter) edit: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17899400/ about abamectin it seem it help with some very resilient spider mites species

@Med_in_Tropic, yes immune boosters will drown them in sap. Of course wind and sun will help since you cant control humidity. Id hookup a solar fan and blow away those little bugs or get lady bugs and hover flies they pickem off the plants its cool watching them in summer here

I see you give yogurt... is it for bacteria?
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
Yes @sativaman, i meant dripping resin. In my climate it is wet and sticky in stead of hard as rock. I calculate N content in yogurt. And it is better if you adjust ratio to 1 part yogurt to 20 part water. N is roughly 1/3rd x protein content. I gave too much yogurt and it made leaves curl. For me i don’t care since it was the last feeding. If you want to do it earlier, 50 ml yogurt to 1 liter water would be better.

Thanks @Med_in_Tropic. I have been learning about LAB (and other KNF stuff since deficiencies while growing A5 Haze) but did not thought about yogurt!! By too wet to soon are you talking about resin and oil? Might be good for my 25% humidity tent!
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@sativaman, i always give yogurt ti last feeding. Yogurt bacteria make buds more potent. Key word to search is “LAB increase terpene” But i gave only one or two times otherwise buds get too wet too soon in hot climate.

@NugLife420, yes oh yes. I don’t have any grape smelling weed n my stash. I can hardly wait. From now i better pay attention to harvesting and drying proper.

Wow , grand daddy took off hey! Looks like one of your best yet mate, and good resin already for only 3 weeks. Mine are 3 weeks in flower too but not as thick as those. This one is really shaping up med 👍👍

Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@sativaman, she likes it hot. 😀😀😀😃 In theory, I can grow year round but buds will be to small wheat it get too hot. Buds rot when it’s too wet. This is actually the coolest and driest it would ever get around here. Probably my best harvest from in the next couple of months.

How I'm not following you??? what a galactic idiot I am... I thought I was following, sorry man. This GDB, Original Sensible Seeds offered me some promotion seeds months ago, this was one of them but clip pack came empty :D
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@HighRoller909, cheers mate 😀😀😀😀😀 I am flattered. GDB performance remain to be seen. I am worrying about the Grand daddy purple genetic. GDP has notorious tendency to hermaphrodite. If these are okay, then OSS truly did a very good job.

I like your garden! That beauvaria is awesome.. keep up the fight! I bet you are like me and always have more buds than can possibly smoke anyway... and keep growing!
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
Oh yes @sativaman, much more buds Tha I can handle 😀😀😀😀😀. I don’t smoke that much. (Yet I have high tolerance) And I even have plants that are not in my diaries. Off season buds goes to edible. Keep growing brother.

@Shooey, only the strong survive my set up 😀😀😀😀. Put seedling in fertilized soil full of microbe kills a few plants. But the survivors are usually more vigorous. Some Time there is no survivor at all. First grow, I don’t care for number of plants. And I only use the strongest specimen. Then if things work out, I clone. It takes more time and space. At the moment, I am keeping three strains. Think that is my limit. To stay, a new strain will kick out one old strain.

this is a quick finisher and it is good to hear it has a stoney high.I would have given it a try if they didn't send me an empty clip pack of seeds :D

@Med_in_Tropic, this sounds like the panama, just other way around,it was a sativa.effects to come slow, hit you very deep and last until next night.I blended panama with auto girl scout cookies which was shit but the combination was very heavy.I think I chopped the panama 2 weeks early and it was very hot towards the end, lost some potency.but it was still very good that everyone liked it. Those seeds from Original Sensible was trials. They offered to send me some free ones to grow.I'm not complaining at all.Other 3 packs have seeds so I may give them a go.I'm just sticking with ACE nowadays as I find their strains amazing, truly amazing. At week 11 of flowering actually,I see huge colas and great aromas when I enter the room. :)
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@HighRoller909, effect was slow to come. I guess that this is typical of pure Indica. I lit one up in an evening and it didn't quite hit me. So, i lit up another one. Then i got high enough. But not only the effect last all night, it extended to better part of the next day. Had a very nice day 😀😀😀😀 I ended up blending Zamaldelica and Granddy Black together in my smoke. Make it more balance. About getting empty packages, I hear you. Some thing wrong with the people organization. I had missing shipment before. Not quite the same but it still sucks. And there are other seeds companies with similarly modified GDP strains.

any difference beside taste when smoking decarb flower?
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@sativaman, de-carbed is much stronger. I think smoking alone doesn’t get full THC conversion. Smoking de-carbed get nearly 100% conversion. These are not de-carbed. They are crispy and yellow for two reasons. I hung them outside the under heavily shaded cinnamon tree. Still, the light kills green color. I think it speed up curing. Smell still sweet and strong to me. Second, i cooked the dried buds in microwave for a couple of minutes. I want to kill mold spores. After airing out the stem buds are over dried and heat burnt on the edges. Still smeloing sweet and fruity. And they do still improve after a couple of weeks in the jar. Good eyes!

i really hope it help keep thing under control, you should see the result pretty fast, thrips white dot on leaf should stop spreading right after first time spraying

Med_in_Tropiccommented4 years ago
@HerbalEdu, again thanks for your recommendation. Spinetoram seemed to be working on cannabis. It knocked mealy bugs out but on my hibiscus. It doesn’t quite eradicated mealt buga yet. So, two rounds per instruction.
