Doing great! Still have them outside during the day and bring them inside in the evening for extra light and to keep them warm. Will be repotting them to slightly bigger pots in the next few days.
My plants are growing tall and fast. If I want to restrict their vertical growth at some point should top them? Is there a time when it is too late to top them and if I do top them will they just become bushy? I did not do this early on, obviously.
Definitely topping is ok now as she looks healthy and not started flowering yet.
After topping you can tie down the largest stalks to allow more growth and light in
Take a nice clone from the cuts
Honestly, I decided against it. I’m going to transplant them to larger pots tonight then leave them be. I’ll be posting some new images tonight or tomorrow, they’ve grown quite a bit in a week.
Train looks like it blew up and doubled height in a week?! How long did you wait for nutes using the Ocean Forest? I topped mine and LST and she’s around 8 still after the bends :D
@Snowy,
Love some smart pots 👌. I’m doing the same for the final pot, I like the solid ones for transferring though. Also going to start nutes after three weeks in the ocean forest. I like it so far
@ImagiNathan, I waited about 5 weeks, then started slowly. I read that Ocean Forest has plenty of nutrients in it, so I didn't want to fertilize them too early, plus I transplanted them so they got more from the soil then. I know people start at two weeks but I figure they have plenty of time to grow, it's going to be a long summer. I am looking to transfer them into 7 gallon smart pots in a couple of weeks, we'll see how that works out.
Lol wow that’s a tall plant. I don’t think topping would be a bad idea but depends when you are going to flower I guess. My choo choo is about 13” after some early topping and LST but I’ve only got 5’ or less to work with so I’ve got to get her low :D. Jealous of these outdoor grows, looks great! 🌞
@ImagiNathan, it’s going to flower when nature decides, since they are outdoor plants, and that could be July, August. I’m thinking I’ll let them grow to about 5 feet, then perhaps that’s when I’ll top them. They’re growing so fast I just don’t want them too tall. But I do love just letting them be, in the sun, and be happy.
Your train looks good! I notice they also have the lighter new growth in contrast to the leaf like mine :D. Outside is def untamed and I’m jealous you have no height limit!
