QCS rates this strain as a moderate grow difficulty. Up until now, I've only grown strains rated as easy. Soaked in glass of RO water for 16 hours then planted in Pete moss plugs in solo cups full of perlite. Took 2 days for 3 of them to germinate, the smallest one in the pics actually started growing upside down and with the shell stuck on! I had to carefully pull it out of the Pete moss, flip it around, and take the shell off. It recovered perfectly but of course is now the runt of the litter :) Today I transplanted 2 into the autopot buckets, filled the reservoir with 1.25ml per gallon of maxigro, and flipped on the valve! When I stick my finger in the perlite I get to about the middle knuckle before I start feeling dampness, so it’s definitely wicking up the perlite! We will see what happens. They recommend that you use clay pebbles on the bottom and use soil, but I’m gonna go with what I know! The perlite is recycled from other grows. It starts with roots and leaves and other shit in it. I use a wireless bbq thermometer that beeps when it gets to whatever temp I set. I heat it up in the oven for about 3 hours at 205F. Then scoop it into 5 gallon paint strainers, tie a knot in the tops, and run each paint strainer under water, shaking and moving it around vigorously. Because of the long cook in the oven all the roots and leaves get super soft and most break down completely and wash out when I rinse. Takes about 5 minutes per paint strainer to rinse it until it’s clear. Then I put it on a rack near a heater and dry it out for a week or two. There’s a bit of thin roots left over but it just decomposes during the grow and becomes plant food! I run H2O2 through every so often anyway which kills any bacteria or whatever else might be growing. To water the ones in the solo cups I scoop a solo cup full of mix out of the autopot reservoir and pour it into the cups with the plants. There’s a small slit I made about an inch from the bottom of each cup, under the letter I wrote. I tilt the cup slightly and push in on the bottom of the slit which causes it to drain and leave a small water shelf at the bottom. Not sure what I’m gonna do with the two in the cups. I might just solo cup challenge it, or I might give them away! Also considering waiting til they max out the solo cups and then doing a root trim / transplants into a slightly larger container with a water shelf. I dunno. Experiment :)

EDIT: I just realized the autopot system flooded the tent, WTF? gotta clean that up... Massive growth stunt after the transplant, and one started turning yellow. Took 6 days after the transplant, but they finally started growing again!! The ones under the desk lamp (the runt, and the biggest one of all) are still just chillin'. I scoop a solo cup out of the reservoir every 3 days or so, and feed half to one and half to the other, then push the slit I cut in the bottom to drain their solo cups, leaving a water shelf. I'm going to let them grow until they start choking out in the solo cups, then I have a couple 1 gallon buckets I'm going to fill with perlite, transplant them into with a good root trimming and a paint strainer to hold the perlite, and drill a small hole about an inch up from the bottom of the bucket to create a water shelf. I'll just hand water them every few days and let them grow under the desk lamp until either the ones in the tent finish flowering, or I figure out wtf to do with them :P I noticed some oily substance in the reservoir, I think I didn't clean it well enough and something leached out of the plastic. I drained everything, scrubbed everything with soap and water, rinsed it well with distilled water, refilled the reservoir with hydrogen peroxide in it, and put a tablespoon of H2O2 in the bottom of each tray before putting the plants back in and turning the system back on. Seems to have cleared it up, it's been several days and no more problems 🤷 The autopot system works alright so far, still getting used to it!

NOTE: I'm posting this late but the pics were taken on time! My wife ended up in the hospital with a big problem, she's now home and resting :) I accidentally dropped a hose on top of one of the plants while flushing, and broke the top plus ripped off a fan leaf :( My stupid clumsy hands! So, I topped the other one. Fuck it. I'm only putting a max of 2.5 gallons into the reservoiur at a time, which seems to last about a week, then at the end of the week I flush the plants and the reservoiur / lines, and put another couple gallons in. Other than checking the res PH a couple times during the week and dropping in some PH Down if necessary, this is the only maintenace I have to do! Takes about an hour to flush everything, then let it all dry out for a couple hours, then spend 15 mins putting it all back together and getting a couple gallons in the res. This is much better than 20 to 30 minutes a day, 7 days a week! You supposedly don't need to flush if using Florakleen, but until they mature more and I start using the ScrOG net, I'll just keep the weekly flush. Sorry, I forgot to take pics of the clones this week -- but they're doing quite well!

NOTE: I took the pics on Saturday to match up with week 3's ending, I just didn't get around to posting until now. I added an extra gallon of properly-pH'd distilled water to the reservoiur to thin it out a tiny bit as they were getting too many nutrients, but otherwise I'm still going on the same 2 gallons I put in originally + the one I added! No nutrients for the two smaller ones in the cups, watered them twice during the week with distilled water, that's why the bottom leaves are turning yellow I think. I'm not too worried about it, I'm trying to keep them small for the moment anyway and they're otherwise healthy! Otherwise all good and my wife is healing :)

Woohoo I’m actually posting on time! Power went out twice this week but I used the generator and kept the grow circuit on along with the basic necessities like water, food storage, internet, and TV (yeah if you have kids it’s a total necessity lol). I had a feeling it was coming so I had already topped up all the gas cans at the beginning of the week! Anyway. The main plants grew well this week. Yesterday I defoliated a bit during my weekly reservoir flush, and added a small amount of maxigro for a well rounded diet :) they grew significantly in the last 24 hours so before taking these pics this morning I defoliated all the old low hanging or supermassive fan leaves and installed the ScrOG net! I will veg for another week or two and then flick over to flowering! They are a bit stunted because I transplanted too early so they are 1 to 1.5 weeks behind where they should be. All good though, that’s the beauty of a photoperiod. The solo cups are still chugging along on their own under the desk lamp. I gave them nothing but pH’d RO water, and only a few times, over the last 2 weeks. However yesterday when I flushed and refilled the reservoir, I scooped some out and used it to water the solo cups. They will just sit in a holding pattern until the tent is clear in 8 to 10 weeks, but I have some slightly larger buckets to put them in when they outgrow the cups. Oh yeah, I dropped solo cup C on the floor and perlite went everywhere. It was a disaster! But I replanted before giving the nutrients yesterday and it grew within the last 24 hours so it didn’t even seem to phase it?? Cannabis plants are tough as nails as long as you deal with situations as they come up.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take pics or post last week, so I had to skip a week in my diary :( Flicking to flowering in the upcoming week, I want them to recover from the big trim and LST I just did, so they pop out a few new fan leaves before flowering starts. Pretty sure I switched their positions by mistake when I put them back, not to concerned with it though. Had some nutrient issues with the Autopots as you can see by the discoloration on some of the leaves before the trimming, but I got it under control! One is growing much faster and bigger than the other, and can't seem to get enough Nitrogen. Once I balanced it out, most of the green colour came back, but a few leaves were permanently ruined. I had to turn off the flow and use a hand pump syphon to get the water out of the tray so I could refill the tray with nitrogen heavy nute bath for it to suck up before returning to what's coming out of the reservoir. Why you ask? Because of the ScrOG net, it wouldn't have been easy to pull the plants out -- also I couldn't find the turkey baster, which was what I went for first. More on this in a moment. More on the ScrOG net that is, not the turkey baster! :P Because of the nutrient issues and the fact that I'm new to the autopots, I decided to nix the ScrOG net and go with my oldschool LST tie-downs. Will achieve a similar result, they just won't bush out horizontally as much as they would using the net. Reason being that I foresee needing to flush them or otherwise have to pull them out of the tent during flowering to correct shit. This strain is rated as a medium difficulty grow, and I can feel it -- it doesn't bounce back quite like the 8Ball Kush and GSC did. Honestly I prefer the hempy buckets in general, I just no longer have the time to water them every day! Plus, I was chewing through nutrients that way. Right now, the plants are only drinking about 3 gallons per week TOTAL. With the hempy buckets, I was pouring 14 gallons a week through 2 pots! The autopots definitely save money by using 1/5 the nutrients and RO water (which equates to less filter changings). I feel like if I were growing to sell (which I do NOT do, but I use street "values" as a baseline to compare against equipment/nutrients/etc I have to buy), these would "pay for themselves" after a dozen grows or so. The clones are still chugging along. I transplanted them from the solo cups to some mini hempy buckets just to keep them going. Trimmed their roots when I transplanted. I just do "whatever" waterings with them. Sometimes I scoop from the reservoir. Sometimes I give a little RO water. Sometimes both at the same time :P Don't even bother to check the pH. Basically just trying to grow them slowly and see if I can keep them alive by the seat of my pants. You can see that one of them is growing bushy/thick. I'm going to hold onto both of them for now, but what I may end up doing is ditching the scrawny plant and taking two clones of the bushy one before ditching it (gotta obey the legal limit of 4!) -- and grow the next batch as clones from the same phenotype. This way, they will grow at the same pace, require nutrients at the same pace, and behave them same way :) I think that'll let me use the ScrOG net. Might be what I have to do from now on, pop a seed while the 2 in the tent are flowering, and take 2 clones of it before chucking it in the garbage. It'd ensure I'm always growing 2 plants in the tent that will be basically the same! Would save money on seeds, too 😎

Bit late on updating for the first week of flowering. It's been more like 10 days of flowering by now, and I'll be posting another diary entry in a few days. I was just super busy with life! The plants are chugging along. A tiny amount of LST and they have bushed out the entire tent, possibly even more so than using a ScrOG net :P Nothing wrong with good ol' LST! Nothing remarkable to report. They are nitrogen whores, I had to double the maxigrow, so now I'm running 1tsp/gal of MaxiGro and 1tsp/gal of MaxiBloom at the same time for the stretch :O

End of second week of flowering :) They've finished the stretch and I see calyxes forming, so I took the time to defoliate a bit. I'll do more defoliation in the next week or two, once the existing fan leaves grow bigger and the sugar leaves are coming in nicely. I cut down the "desk lamp" plant I don't want, and LST'd the one I want to take clones from to get those cloning nodes growing. Probably at the end of next week, or the following week, I'll take 2 clones from it. Otherwise, not much else to report! I'm about to clean out the reservoir and refill it with less nitrogen and my favourite PK booster.

Everything went great this week. I put a few gallons in the reservoir 6 days ago and it was finally low enough that I washed it out and set it up with a few gallons of fresh nute mix. There was a little bit more growth this week but they are definitely done as they are starting to get nute burn so as of today when I refilled, I cut way back and added some bud blaster. But that’ll all be in next weeks diary entry! I did some heavy defoliation today as well. The one in the little bucket is still doing just fine with “whatever” watering. I think maybe at the end of this upcoming week (or definitely the one after) I’ll take clone cuttings. I did a little bit of defoliation on this one as well.

Good week (and a half technically, posting a little late). They are to the point now where using any maxigro or maxibloom is too much nitrogen. In 3 or 4 days when the week I’m in right now (the week after the one I’m writing about now) finishes, I’m going to make 2 clones of the plant on top of the desk and get them growing happy while these finish up the last few weeks!

Eliminated the excess nitrogen nutrients. Otherwise I didn’t do much to the main plants this week! I started the two clones off the desk-lamp plant — expecting them to root and start growing again in about 7 to 10 days like usual :) they will start cannibalizing themselves over the next few days starting with the lower leaves, to use for energy growing roots. Used cheap miracle grow rooting hormone, the same stuff I’ve had for years. Eventually I guess I should get some new stuff :P And thus begins week....6 I think?! I’m to the point where it all runs together and I can just look at them to know when it’s time to harvest.

I took the pics a few days ago. Basically, I can't even remember if this is the end of week 6/start of week 7, or if I'm halfway through week 7. I lost track :P Sometime during this week, I'll clean out the reservoir and start running nothing but water + h2o2 + florakleen until they are ready to harvest :) I have to say though, that I don't smell any bubble gum. Just smells like dank weed to me 🤷 The clones have rooted and just started growing sloooowly. I'll probably put them in their own diary next week.
