Ending week 3; Days 14-21 of bloom. Sweet Seeds Killer Kush. First to fill you in on the first part of this grow I didn't journal: This is a organic grow, with reused Fox Farm OF soil, Flushed with a strong dose of Sledgehammer (yucca), then I added about 20% Pearlite and 20% EW castings. I then amended this with 2 Tbs of Happy Frog All Purpose Dry Fertilzer, I then transferred this newly prepared soil to a covered bin and let it "cook" for 3 weeks. On this same day I sprouted the Killer Kush seeds and started them in one gallon fabric pots that I had filled with new soil mixed with 1 Tbs of the all purpose, they spent the first 3 weeks of their lives in the one gallon pots, then at day 21 of veg I transplanted them from the 1 gallon pots to the 7 gallon fabric pots they will reside in for the remainder of the grow. At week 6 of veg I top dressed with 2 TBS/Gallon-so 14 tablespoons for each of the 7 gallon pots-with Happy Frog Tomato & Vegetable dry fertilizer-this is an awesome transitional fertilzer to use between veg & flower. This is a 7 week strain so I planned my top dressings accordingly-allowing for 5 weeks between the last top dressing at day 14 of flower (Happy Frog Fruit & Flower dry) and the anticipated harvest date of day 49 of flower. Every other watering I'm adding 1 Tbs/gallon FF Big Bloom, and 1 Tbs of Ful-Power Fulvic acid to aid in nutrient uptake. I've also been using Mammoth P once weekly at .6ml/gal since sprouting. I foliar sprayed once weekly at lights out on Saturdays from week 3 of veg to week 2 of flower with a solution of FF Flower kiss , Kelp & Ful-power. (in a quart sprayer filled with water I add 1/2 tsp FF Flower's Kiss, 1 tsp Kelp, 1 tsp Ful-power and use a dropper to add 1 ml Sledgehammer as a wetting agent to help it absorb into the leaves 1ml=25 drops, Important: Ph to 6.2 before applying). As for training, I topped them at day 21 of veg, and the largest plant I topped again 5 days later, the largest plant also was the only one I supercropped at about day 10 of Flower, otherwise I've been using garden soft ties to tie down branches with binder clips on the fabric pots. I've been growing for years and as for the Killer Kush, I'm really impressed-I've never seen such rapid bud development with any other strain I've grown-and it's high potency & high yielding? This is likely to become my regular go-to strain!
I was looking at the pics I posted last week and noticed the upturned edges of the leaves on the plant-first sign of light stress. So today day 22, the first day of week 4; days 22 thru 29 of flower- I went to the grow tent immediatly and raised the lights, so they're 18" above the tallest plant and 22" above the others-I'm currently running them at 100% brightness, I had run them at 70% -judging by the watt meter they're plugged into-up to the end of week 2 of flower.
Crop is looking fantastic this strain is going to become a favorite. Yesterday, I cut a small scarf bud off of the largest plant and put it in my volcano and vaped it until it was dry--wheeweee! what a buzz! Chop day will probably be withing 2-3 weeks. Bud is tight, and, sticky and fragrant-the largest rear right smells strong lemon, the other 3 are definitely citrus too-but with a slight hint of a diesel to my nose. Overall though this is the 3rd Happy Frog Fruit & Flower grow I've done , so I expect some sweet smelling bud.
Yesterday I drenched 1 tsp/gal kelp (FF Kelp Me Kelp You) 1 TBS/gal Ful-Power, 1 TBS/gal Big Bloom .6ml/gal Mammoth P. Fastest strain I've ever grown at this rate I expect them to be finishing up in 7-10 days.
Day 45 7 week strain, and I've got some rearranging to do before the holidays, so I'm cutting them down two days early on day 47, Saturday, allowing for at least 24 hrs of darkness/green light before harvesting. 2 days ago I gave them their final watering of molasses
Fun grow, I grew 4 plants, 3 of which were a consistent 22-24 inches tall these had only been topped once. But one of the four grew faster and larger than the other 3 and was closer to the lights-this particular plant had quite a a few seeds- I was finding 2-3 seeds in every bud. So be careful about stressing her, otherwise these were very nice looking plants-it was almost a shame to cut them down. Big yielder of sticky buds-control the fungus gnats because they'll get stuck in the resin it's so much! All in all I really enjoyed growing this strain, my first Sweet Seeds grow-I'm sufficiently impressed so Killer Kush is a favorite and I intend on trying other strains by Sweet Seeds in the future too!
