Germination

All of the fabulous five germinated nicely and are on their way to becoming seedlings. They’re under grow light bulbs in the small ups to get done strong roots going before transfer in a couple of weeks. No nutrients in grow phase as I learned the Bio Bizz soil is more than rich enough to carry them through germination and transplant until to flower. pH adjusted watering every three days and misting in between. They don’t look too unhappy in their little makeshift first three week grow closet before the tent. Thank you for reading!

Long story short. grow lights for germination were way too close to the five babies for 2 days and they ended up folding in on themselves (I had confused the distance with these cfos I used for germination before and it was way, way too much). That’s fine in the end as the strongest one has now been repotted to be the future Blue Dream tree. One big plant is what I’ve been wanting to grow anyways, now on my third grow (even if this mistake doesn’t look like it). The solo plant seems happy in its new big pot, 18/6 schedule, refreshed BioBizz soil and just pH adjusted water and attention to light distance for the next couple of weeks. I quite learned from my last grow about over-eagerness to give nutrients at this point so nothing to add this time, just let this baby recover after its initial light abuse. Here’s to seeing this plant grow strong with love and attention. I’m just not great at this but love the engagement especially these days with watching these babies mature. Thank you for reading!

With the light burn during the first week, it’s been interesting watching them bounce back. The main one is in a five gallon pot now and the other ones in 1.5. Not entirely sure how I’ll grow these whether the five all together switching to flower in a week or keep the one to grow large for several weeks more and the other four to flower shortly in another tent (some concerns about the cold temp in the basement tent to deal with). So kind of taking it day by day with some ideas of how to bring off this grow depending on how the four smaller do and they do indeed look like they’re taking catching up. As to conditions it’s hot in that tent with the HDI lights during the day as I don’t want to run the exhaust into absolutely necessary (noise) so opening the window helps to keep it as close to 30 as possible. Dark time with windows closed. Only pH adjusted watering for at least another week (last grow involved too many nutrients during grow and I could smell the nitrogen as the leaves turned yellow). Humidity in upper 50s. Overall they seem happy. I’m happy with the resilience of these young teenager plants. They’ll all get some LST this weekend. Blue Dream is known for its medicinal properties so glad for giving it a dedicated grow. Thank you for reading!

Hello fellow growers. Here we are at the end of third week for these young Blue Dream Xtreme, the fabulous five. The strongest one gets its own five gallon pot and the others, smaller as they were so stunted by an early error. I just love the five together, a little family. This week they adjusted to their topping and LST and have since bounced back. The heat is still high, 30-32C without the exhaust but the open window helps. They are only getting pH adjusted water until flower. Humidity staying high which they seem to like. Things seem fine overall for now. Thank you for reading!

Flipped to flower halfway through week and set up a scrog. This is my favorite part of a grow, using the trellis as LST and getting nice spacing especially as we have unusual set up with one large pot surrounded by the four runts. Now it’s daily tweaking to keep all parts of the fabulous five well exposed. Light at 12/12 with distance of 42cms, pH adjusted watering every three days. No nutrients so far and I’m only going to start very slowly in the next week. Leaves are green and happy so don’t want to jeopardize that. Budlets have already started to form and the next week should prove interesting with care during the stretch filling the scrog for the flowering. Thank you for reading!

As mentioned last week this is really my favorite moment in the whole growth cycle, plants transforming to flower and stretching each day, and this week didn’t disappoint. Somewhat distributed in the scrog, four are in 1.5 gallon pots with 5-7 strong branches per plant whilst the larger one in the 5 gallon pot dominates the center of the tent with about 10-12 branches. Out of the 4 smaller, one is a complete runt with light green leaves since the beginning barely touching the bottom trellis and there mostly for curiosity. Only some slight defoliation the last days to remove any truly weak new branches and blocking leaves and otherwise lots of tucking. No nutrients up to now, only pH adjusted water. Maybe this week. Temp and humidity on point. Thank you for reading!

Third week of flowering it’s definitely a stretch on most of the plants. That means getting the canopy spread across the trellis in decent shape. pH adjusted watering through most of week every other day to a very diluted first feeding yesterday. Temp under better control, closer to 30c than 32 as a couple of weeks ago. Humidity still running closer to 60-70 so using a dehumidifier. I’d say three of the five are strong and in the right shape for their age, one is weaker than that and one is a pure runt barely passing the lowest trellis line. Depending on space needs this little one might go in a week to make better use of scrog and an even canopy. That’s where it’s all at as of this morning on these Blue Dream Xtremes as AMS calls this strain. Thank you for reading!

This rather odd grow of a relatively short veg for these Blue Dreams allowed space at least for a nicely filled 2ftx2ft tent without being overcrowded. If I weren’t out of stock myself I’d have left them another two weeks and focused on the bigger and stronger 3. There was a whole lotta stretching this last week. With some defoliation, all of the maturing budlets are getting good light and air, each more or less in its own square in the trellis. The three strongest are thickening up, the second smallest still shorter and below the grow line of the others and the smallest is just hanging out. They got very light early flower nutrients once this week and that’s the plan forward, once an week with pH adjusted water in between. I’ve never had such healthy leaves and don’t feel like ruining that by trying to squeeze out more yield through nutrients. Leaves look good only losing some below the lowest trellis line, all normal. Here we go for the flower midpoint, still some time to go, meaning nothing to enjoy over the holidays. If I don’t go crazy by then wishing you all a good week and thank you for reading!

This week saw most leaves turning yellow as is super apparent in the photos. Some diluted mid-flower GHE trio nutrients today to perhaps help with the imbalance but maybe too late now to see anything helping. Exhaust fan was off while away for a couple of days and apparently temp got up to 41C. Budlets are densifying slowly but surely. It’s a strange little grow these five, one larger in a fabric pot, roots doing nicely, and four in plastic pots not surprisingly in dubious shape. Two in particular show leaves shriveling up though further from the lamp. Lesson? No more plastic pots ever. It’s also an odd grow with such a short veg but I needed to get some flower in my life soon. I’m interested to see what I get out of it. Canopy is somewhat uneven in the scrog but serving its purpose to keep branches distinct, supported and well exposed. So a week of flower development, stretching largely over and just hoping enough leaves remain to support the five until the end. Thank you for reading!

So four smaller ones in one gallon plastic pots and one in a three gallon cloth pot, these Blue Dream are getting somewhere. I’ve bumped up the shorter ones with some old dvd cases for a more even canopy (each of the trellis slots is well occupied with a distinct branch to care for). another week of thickening flowers while overall leaves have turned yellow. The exhaust seemed to have gone out while away for 2 days and it got really hot and humid with very yellow and fried leaves on two of the smaller ones. They will all probably make it over the last weeks. Humidity is an issue and even with a dehumidifier it stays about 60. With the last 4-5 weeks I’ll have to really start taking action. Also the yellowed leaves, luckily new growth is green and not without hope. Seems like any nutrient intervention only makes it worse. I’ll give a nutrient boost tomorrow upon watering. Yet another learning grow. Thank you for reading!

Hi. As you see something really off on this grow leading to all yellow leaves mostly falling off and revealing luckily decent green growth for newer leaf growth. It’s this greener growth that makes me think it’ll survive the abuse. I’ve been careful with watering, letting them fully dry between, but with these small plastic pots for 4/5, roots haven’t always been too happy. The result is some pretty weak looking plants, not totally unexpected for such a quick switch to flower. At this point pistils have turned inwards and from white to dark. Trichomes are looking consistently cloudy which is a bit early but perhaps the stressed plant is trying to hurry itself up. I’ll be keeping an eye for amber and see if a harvest isn’t due in the next week or so. Only pH adjusted watering now for the last week and forward. Makes me a bit sad I can’t get a good consistent green grow. Something always goes off affecting leaves despite extensive research and care. Good luck on your grows and thanks for reading!

Time for an update on this most yellow of grows. I’ve been so careful with watering so perhaps this is all due to an incident early on where ventilator wasn’t on leading to overheating over 3 days. Poor babies. Most of the very yellow and dried up leaves fell off or gently removed to expose enough green leaves to get us through I do believe. No nutrients this week as we head into the last two weeks. Just careful pH adjusted watering and TLC until the end. It’s not going to be a huge harvest but I’ll be sooo glad to have some of the Blue Dream “Xtreme” as the breeder (AMS) claims. They did warn that it’s not the easiest grow and we see that in the yellow. Also probably would have needed a more significant veg time for a sturdier flowering. In either case a learning lesson as always. Just germinated six White Widows to apply some of the lessons here. You also get a bonus pic of my cat very happy in a new chair. Anyway thank you for reading (and your diary inspirations)!

Not anything like fan leaves left and a bit surprised at the trichomes aren’t amber yet. Lots of cloudiness though. Looking forward to harvesting guessing soon. They certainly don’t look gorgeous From all that yellow but the flowers themselves are seemingly healthy. Only ph adjusted watering now. Thank you for reading.
