JTR was my FAVORITE strain back in California, the only sativa-leaning hybrid I really dig (I usually lean indica). I’m bummed I can’t get seeds for the auto version shipped from Spain to the U.S., but since I’d probably grow nothing else if it was available, it’s forcing me to experiment with unfamiliar strains. This will be my first time trying a photoperiod plant, and my first time using this tent, so it will definitely be an adventure! ***** 11/5/2020, Day 0: I’m starting 2 auto Seedsman Blueberries that will live out their lives in the Aerogarden, and I’m using the Aerogarden to germinate the Jack the Ripper before replanting it in a cloth pot with regular potting soil. We’re heading into an unusually warm week after a cold spell, and I was excited to see that four of the ladybugs from the summer woke up and came out of hiding to bless the new tent. It should stay warm enough for them to still be active when there are leaves for them to hang out on, so hopefully they’ll wake up and come visit occasionally over the winter.

Not much to report this week. All 3 plants had some good growth. The ph spiked at the end of the week though, and they clawed a bit.

Day 8 (Friday 11/13/2020): The Ph shot up by the end of last week (5.6 to 7.2!) and I’m not sure why. N toxicity has been an issue in previous grows, so I’m backing off on the FloraMicro slightly. Starting Ph is 5.6, 472ppm. Day 9 (Saturday 11/14/2020) It’s getting really dry now that it’s cold out and the radiators are on. I’ve ordered a small humidifier. Day 10 (Sunday 11/15/2020): SO DRY. I keep misting the room with a spray bottle, but it doesn’t help much. And the Ph is up to 6.9 again! I’m adding a 1 gallon water reservoir, so hopefully keeping the water level steady will prevent the spike going forward. Day 11 (Monday 11/16/2020): Jack went in her pot today. I was going to put her in a smaller compostable pot first, but her roots were really long already, so I went straight for the 5 gallon. I’m just using miracle gro organic soil and will feed her the same nutes as the hydro plants. Day 12 (Tuesday 11/17/2020): Day 13 (Wednesday 11/18/2020): Day 14 (Thursday 11/18/2020):

Day 15 (Fri 11/20/20): Jack is quickly falling behind her sisters. I’m sure being transplanted and being a photoperiod both contribute. Day 20 (Wed 11/23/20): We had some good growth this week! Something isn't right though. Her leaves are much more wrinkly than the hydro Blueberries and I'm seeing signs of intervenial chlorosis. The Ph of the hydro has been unstable too, but I don't have a soil Ph tester yet, so I don't know what's going on after I pour the balanced water into the soil. Is it because I dropped the Micro slightly? I'll go back to the full dose next week. Is it because I haven't been using CaliMag? I'll add that back in too, I suppose.

Day 22 (Fri 11/27/20): Maybe this will be a big mistake, but I decided to switch to the feeding schedule recommended by GHE, which is considerably more potent than the mix for the hydro setup. I fed her about 3/4 of the gallon straight off and got about a cup of runoff. I'll wait a few days before giving her the rest, and then I'll use some nute-free water to flush a bit. Day 23 (Sat 11/28/20): Totally slipped my mind that I can top this, since it isn't an auto. I didn't want to go too low, so I just took off the top level. I was able to get some good close up photos of the leaves, which are definitely suffering from deficiencies or Ph imbalance. My soil pH tester is arriving today, so hopefully I'll know for sure soon! Day 24 (Sun 11/29/20): The pH tester arrived, and the soil is super alkaline. So... I guess I need to add MORE pH down to the water?? EDIT: actually I tested the run off from earlier and it was 6.4, which is better than I expected. Since I’ve probably fed too much this week I’ll give her some plain water to flush her out in a few days. Day 25 (Mon Nov 30 2020): Well even though overwatering was the diagnosis and the soil is still pretty damp, she seems MUCH happier after that extra jolt of nutes. The leaves are feeling much smoother and healthier, and the new growth looks good.

Hard water (7) lowered to 5.8. Last week: 1 gal 3 waterings, w FloraGro (2.5 ml), Micro (2 ml), Bloom (2.5 ml/), Hydroguard (2 ml). Last grow had burnt tips and possible N deficiency, so I was trying to avoid that. This week I've switched to GHE's schedule and added CaliMag.

Your ppm is way too high and your ph is too low, start by flushing with 6.5 ph water only because your using soil you don't need to feed with every watering and when you water give enough until you get runoff this will stop build up from happening, also you don't need to add CaMg for soil that's more for coco because coco holds on to it and only releases it at maximum holding capacity. Your ppm should be around 400-600 ppm, always give half the required amount of nutes and even less for autoflowers never give the full amount unless you know that strain can handle it, also why are you giving bloom when your in veg ?

Since she was pretty wet and I fed her a potent mix last week, I let her dry out this week. She looks pretty happy, and grew about 4 inches! The leaves seem to be flat and healthy. Maybe a little dark, but since I fed her a ton, that's not surprising.

Well, she's as bushy as the White Widow was around this time last grow, unlike her Blueberry auto sisters in the Aerogarden. I'm very pleased with her so far. Day 38 (Sun 12/13/20): The bag was finally light, so I fed her some plain (6.0) water. The ppm of the runoff was only about 100 higher than my natural 200 water. I'm going to give her a little more in a couple days and test again to be sure, and if its still low, I'll add some nutes to the next watering. Day 42 (Thurs 12/17/2020): It was pretty dry today, so I fed her some water and nutes. And, uh... she's flowering? Is this not a photoperiod plant??

Well, she's definitely a mystery auto. What a shame, I was really looking forward to my favorite strain! Whatever she is, she's looking big and healthy! I'm switching her to more Bloom nutes since the growth ship has apparently sailed.

Is my photoperiod actually an auto?? She’s under 20/4 lights and started flowering Week 5, just like my autos. I mean, yay for an earlier harvest, but huh? Photo is from week 7.

Yes, since she is flowering under a 20/4 lighting schedule, she has to be an auto. No true photo period plant would flower with 20 hours of light. Also, I would ease up on feeding her grow nutrients, she does not need both "flower" and "grow" nutrients at the same time. Too much nitrogen during flowering can cause overly leafy flowers. Hope this helps,... Organoman.

If its truly in a 20/4 photo period then that’s not a photoperiod strain and must be some heavy ruderalis influence or straight auto. Guessing you don’t have some landrace afghanica/hindu/neplali genetics or else that could be a possibility, even though it’s in 20/4 light. Human error with seed banks happens all the time, fwiw.

It's very possible. Stresses like weak lighting and falling temperatures can also push a photo into flower, but its more likely that your breeder made a mistake.

2/1 I’ve been taking photos but have been really lazy about updating, so I’ll have to fill in the missing weeks later. Whatever strain she is, she’s looking good. The buds keep getting fatter and putting out new pistils, so I think she may have another couple weeks to go. I see more amber on her than the blueberries though, so I’ll keep a close eye.
