two of the seeds (1 sour stomper and 1 mystery seed) were soaked in tap water for 12 hours. The seeds were then placed into rootriot starter cube. The additional sour stomper seed was placed into the starter cube at the same time as the other seeds but did not soak in water prior. The cubes were placed in a tray on a heat pad to control the temperature to 77C. A lid was placed over the tray to create a mini greenhouse. A small grow light was used 24hrs for the first 5 days. The seeds soaked in water spouted within 2 days and the unsoaked seed sprouted around 24hrs later. After 5 days the starter cube was transferred to the bonsai pot. The sour stompers are placed into a round pot on opposite ends. The mystery seed was placed in a small oval pot by itself.

This week was spent in the bonsai pot. I put both Sour stomper seeds in the same pot to make a double bonsai plant shape. One of the plants has always seemed smaller than the other even from the seedling stage. Early on there was signs of nutrient burn as the tip of the leaves looked black. It was very minor though. At the time I was trying to use natural light for these plants, but with the nutrient burn I decided to put it under a simple grow light. Lighting conditions are still very minimal unlike a nice proper grow light would give, but hopefully since these plants will remain small, then that will be fine. I have plans in the work to buy a tent and a nicer light in the future, but for now I want to see the limits of this smaller grow light. After adding the grow light the plants seemed to do better and the leaves grew larger. I held off on watering for 3 days to ensure the nutrient burn could work it's way out. Things seem to be good, but the plants are much smaller than the plan in the grow tent with proper lighting. I have done some beginning training for the stem, but until they grow more, I won't do too much more with the training as I want them to start getting a more solid foundation. Week 2 will start with increase nutrients.

The plants were starting slow due to the poor lighting conditions. A separate set of plants were being grown with a proper light (not in this diary) and I could see how much the low powered light was hurting it. We got a second tent for my bonsai plants (yay) with a proper grow light and within 2 days the plants started growing as can be seen in these pictures.

The plants are really liking the grow light. Even for being Bonsai plants, this is the way to go. I won't go back to not having them in a grow tent with proper lighting. I have continued to bend down the plants to train the stems. I trimmed a few of the leaves from the first node for the bonsai look.

I have two sets of photos this week. One from midway through the week and one from the end of the 4th week. I see flowering/preflowering starting I think. These are autoflower plants, so this is the last official week of veg. I did some aggressive trimming not realizing the flowering started. I didn't recognize it, but the midway through the week might have shown some symptoms. Hopefully I wasn't too aggressive in my trimming. I was hoping for more growth first, but they do not grow endlessly. In the end I hope they end up being logical and pretty bonsai. I kind of was winging it with the design for my first attempt. halfway through the week- I did some more trimming of the big leaves, especially in the to plant pot since the leaves were starting to run into each other and get in the way. I want to encourage the small new growth to take over strong. The single plant (mysterious seed from mephisto variety pack) has been looking droopy sometimes. I do not know if it is underwater or overwater. The plants get dried out quickly with the humidity so low and the plants pot being so small. It seems to come and go and it otherwise doing fine. end of week- for sure the preflower stage has been hit. I took some closeups of the signs that vegetation is at an end. These are autoflower and happen no matter what the lighting conditions. I almost thought about topping the plant, but decided not to because I thought there was a lot of new growth and I would just wait a few days to top, but now I see that is preflower bundle, so glad I didn't cut it off! The sour stompers look like they are also about to go into the flowering stage, but it is hard to tell if it is, or not. I will update next week and we will know for sure!

The plants are full flower mode. The Sour stomper grew a lot in the past week with many bud sites present. The shape is more chaotic than I would want for a bonsai plant, but most of the stems are too thick to do much training with my current setup. The mystery seed from mephisto has a nice shape to it. One main cola is starting to build up and then there are some nice side offshoots to balance it out, those will be much smaller. I find it aesthetically pleasing. I trimmed a few more leaves that were covering the flowers after this photo. Only a few leaves on each plant. I also lowered the light today, so it is closer to the plants.

The Sour stomper is looking like it has too many nutrients. I am not sure if this is because it is so small, root issues because of two plants or other. I am going to start cutting back on nutrients to see if that helps. Additionally I have not always been watering until runoff so i will try to do that more.

The plants appear to be recovering from the curling leaves on the sour stomper. Otherwise things seem to be going well. Going to just keep monitoring the plants and keep them going. I think I saw a male sac, but I cut it off without taking a picture, so I don't know if it was because this is my first grow. I have checked over the entire plant and see no other evidence. So either I over reacted or It was really was the only one. The plant has had curled leaves which means it might have been stressed to cause it. I do not think this will be a problem.

This are still growing well. I wasn't looking close at the buds, but looking back now I should have realized these were close to harvest. I have instead starting to increase the nutrient level instead of starting to flush the water. No issues observed. The Sour stomper is very very very smelly while the mystery seed has no weed smell at all. The Sour stomper ended up much more chaotic than I planned. Not much I can do to train it differently as I do not want to lose yield or stress the plant by cutting it. The mystery seed looks exactly how I wanted. Has a nice main stem and two side stems. It feels purposeful while the sour stomper is all crazy, haha. Both are still fun to see how they have developed.
