deFharo Third week of life, the seedling continues to establish itself in the pot, the roots are starting to peek out from the bottom of the pot, searching for substrate and guided by gravity and the moisture retained in the lower encapsulation. For now, due to the low temperatures, growth is slow but the seedling shows great tension or strength in the stem and also indicates that it will have good compactness between nodes. deFharo Fourth week of life, the seedling is still strong in its pot establishment. One more week and I will transplant it to its final pot. The seedling has reached the fourth node, so far it responds very well to the compacting with white lights (Check out the photo of my homemade grow closet with very white light spectrum: 9500K, 7700K, 6300K, and 450nm), I hope it continues like this, being a sativa-dominant strain I don't want it to go crazy in height, a few days after the final transplant I will do an apical cut. If the plant continues its evolution as it has so far, I will gift it my largest pot (Air-pot 10l). For now, I am recovering the lost moisture with pure water, my intention in these first weeks is to create a strong root system, and I think it’s going well in this regard, you can appreciate the vigor of the roots when they peek out from the bottom of the pot, thanks to the encapsulated bottom, this way I enhance the vertical growth of the roots thanks to the lower moisture, gravity, and the tendency of the roots in search of substrate, in the same way, I prevent the roots from coiling in the pot. deFharo Yesterday, as the seedling completed its fifth week of life, I transplanted it into its final pot, in this case, a classic 7-liter pot with aeration holes. The root system looked very good; I hope to have a well-developed root system in the next 2-3 weeks at most, which will guarantee a good metabolism. To encourage root development, I prepared a light substrate made of peat and coconut fiber (Total 7 parts), added 1 part of worm humus, another part of my aged bokashi from silage grass, and a final part with various minerals (Montmorillonite, white and red Kaolin, pumice, azomite, basalt, phosphorite, dolomite, zeolite, and wood ash), also with leonardite (Organic matter, humic and fulvic acids) and for the inoculation of Microorganisms, I use activated charcoal with Microorganisms, previously hydrated coconut fiber inoculated with Activated Mountain Microorganisms, and finally Solid Mountain Microorganisms (MMS). Around the root ball, I sprinkled my auxins from black beans and mycorrhizal spores. For the transplant, I moistened the small pot a lot, then transferred the very wet root ball to the new pot-soil, leaving it without watering for 24 hours so that the moisture from the root ball spreads by capillarity to the surrounding soil. After 24 hours, I watered with mountain water, the volume of my initial watering corresponds to 10% of the total volume of the pot (7L/700ml). Nothing more for now; if all goes well, in a week I will do the apical cut. deFharo Sixth week of life and one week since transplanting, the evolution of the crop is very good. The plant is responding very well to the compaction with short internodes, a strong stem, and wide leaves to capture a lot of light. This week I’m going to do an apical pruning. Currently, the plant has optimal water consumption, using 1/3 of the initial watering (700ml) daily. My goal is to achieve great root development in these first weeks, and the new substrate is performing very well in that aspect. This week, I’m doing some waterings to maintain the substrate's moisture with inoculation of Microorganisms and other components. I’ve also finished filling the pot with a layer of mulch made from dry grass and wood chips cured outdoors. Before that, I microwaved these components to ensure there are no larvae or other pathogens. I dislike this practice because the dry grass I have is with Microorganisms, but in the end, I leave the dry matter that serves to preserve the moisture of the upper substrate and as organic matter for the Microorganisms. I’m also giving the plant preventive foliar treatments against algae and fungi based on sulfur, neem oil, and diatomaceous earth, as I’ve had quite a few problems with this in other crops. deFharo Seventh week of life, growth and establishment in the pot continue, so far so good. The plant shows good compactness with short internodes and very large leaves to capture maximum light energy, and this despite keeping the plant under artificial growth light for 14 hours (it's my cheap electricity rate) and completing the rest of the hours by moving the plant closer to the window, but the little brightness of these cloudy days doesn't help much. Anyway, I think the plant is handling its 18/6 light schedule perfectly. As soon as I have a free space, I'll move it to flowering because being a sativa, I'm afraid it will get too big or the cultivation will stretch too much. On day 44 of cultivation, I did a FIM cut at the apex above the fourth node, good response so far. The plant has a moderate and stable water consumption, the cold days this week are not helping the plant's metabolism. I have discovered marks on a couple of lower leaves, these same marks have appeared the same in two other cultivations that I will comment on. The common denominator of the marks, I believe, is definitely due to excess potassium and due to a poor formulation of one of my alkaline hydrolysates with protein that I insisted on recovering, despite the bad smell of the decomposing protein, by adding more KOH, resulting in a mixture with a soluble potassium percentage above 12%. In short, alkaline hydrolysis is not meant to work with proteins... the solution will be clear, watering with rainwater to quickly wash away the excess potassium so the plant can regulate for the absorption of other nutrients, which is currently blocked. We'll see the results... for now, the best remedy for all problems with nutrient excess is rainwater, and there’s plenty of it these days!! 😮 And I'm going to throw the two liters of the damn potassium preparation into the woods for nature to eat them!! 😈 DECODING THE CULTIVATION 😌 - I continue heating the irrigation water between 21-23°C, hot soup for the cold days. deFharo Eighth week of easy life!! 😋 The plant continues to establish itself in the pot, it's not a big drinker, but it's growing at a good pace and has strong branches and stem as well as large leaves. The compactness is also ideal for me; for now, I haven't tied down the lateral branches because this time I want crops with less width but without losing sight of forming long and strong branches to hold the buds. By having less width, I can better optimize light entry by separating the pots more within the cabinet. This week I'm going to change the light schedule, moving from the current 18 hours (mixed: indoor-outdoor) to 14 hours of light and now without leaving the growth cabinet where I'm going to keep them until they have space in the flowering cabinet and my next light scheme. I also think that maintaining the white light spectra will continue to favor the compactness. On day 54 of cultivation, I sprayed the plant with soluble sulfur as a prevention against fungi and spider mites; I also added solid nutrients to the surface of the substrate. Today I'm going to water with nutrients, and during the transition to flowering, I'm going to let the plant rest with mostly pure waterings so that it can make the huge hormonal change that flowering entails without distractions... all the necessary nutrients for this process are present in the substrate, after pre-flowering I'll continue with the diet!! 😜 DECODING THE CULTIVATION - Waiter!! a hot soup please!!! The plant has gained momentum, has doubled its water consumption in the last 8 days, and has shown great growth in leaf mass and lateral branches, now several of them are competing to be in the upper canopy. The FIM pruning from two weeks ago has perfectly fulfilled its function, the central colas have multiplied, and the lateral ones have had time and energy to grow vigorously. A week ago, I changed the light schedule from 18h to 14/10h, I placed the plant next to another one in my homemade flowering cabinet with some very interesting light spectra (a mix of fluorescents and LEDs) that I have already tried, and I really like the result (2100K, 2700K, 3000K, and 660nm). I think if it continues well, I'm going to keep growing it in this cabinet. Until a week ago, this plant barely consumed water; I had gotten used to watering when the substrate had lost about 85% of its initial moisture. I had been very conditioned by successive failures due to excess moisture, but this excess was due to a bad substrate mix with too much organic matter that retained moisture and blocked root proliferation also due to excess nutrients in the substrate. Well, I thought I should increase the moisture in the pot because I noticed that being so cautious with the moisture was causing the opposite effect: scarce growth, and probably the water wasn't reaching the bottom of the pot. I increased the initial amount of water in the substrate from 600ml to 800ml, and now I water when 75% of the initial moisture has been consumed. I started experimenting with this practice at the beginning of the week, and the results are spectacular; water consumption has doubled, it has grown 8 cm, and the leaf mass is much greater. In this week's waterings, I used varied and moderately concentrated nutrients, alternating them with water and microorganisms. deFharo Tenth week of life and second week of flowering at 14/10 hours... the growth is unstoppable, water consumption is high and rising!! The overall appearance is very healthy, with plenty of foliage, a strong and thick stem, and lateral branches striving to fill the upper canopy, pre-flowering has begun. I'm trying to flower this plant and others with 14/10 hours of light, I'm turning on an IR 730nm LED bulb half an hour before turning off the lights until half an hour after they are off, apparently this technique speeds up flowering... deFharo Third week of flowering and eleventh of life... growth continues vigorous, water consumption is high and continues to increase, watering every 48h. Pre-flowering started last week after a first week at 13/11 hours, then I had a second week at 14/10, now the tent where this plant is located is at 13/11h. This plant, unlike its two tent mates (Jelly Bananen and Gorilla Glue), started pre-flowering first; the other two plants were at 14/10h for the first two weeks. This week the plant has strengthened the entire stem and branch structure, the leaf mass has increased and it has grown 8cm in height. I'm trying to slow down the height growth of these plants through light intensity, but they are resisting; if they exceed 80cm in height, I will have a problem. In my last five grows, including this one, I have drastically changed the substrate setup and increased the initial moisture percentage in the pot with excellent results in root development, which is then reflected in the aerial part of the plant. After a year with quite a few failed grows, all due to inadequate substrates, where I insisted on recycling soil from my other organic grows and making mixes with too much organic matter, which caused a nutrient absorption blockage that showed multiple signs of all kinds, all my diagnoses were wrong; the low metabolism caused low water consumption. To try to alleviate this, I lowered the moisture in the pot to the limit, which resulted in scarce roots that did not deepen into the substrate. Now the substrate is virgin, very aerated, without extra organic nutrients, with some minerals, and I have increased the watering and moisture level in the pot to 40% (I have removed the anti-moisture complex), so that the roots in the vegetative growth stage find moisture everywhere, without saturation. For me, the ideal is to consume this moisture in 3 days. I'm very happy because a strong root system, with high water consumption, guarantees me excellent nutrient absorption, which I take care of providing with my liquid preparations. This week I have added solid elements to the substrate and made a foliar application and another for watering with horsetail extract to strengthen the crop and increase defenses. I also continue with varied nutrient and mineral contributions; next week I will try not to apply liquid nutrients to the plant because the transition to flowering means a significant hormonal change in the plant, and I don't want to hinder it. The vigor, vertical structure, strong stem, and sturdy branches announce big, long buds!! Water consumption is very high, a sign of great metabolism and good root formation. I maintain the substrate's moisture with deep watering every 48 hours; the continuous growth demands it, and I don't want to risk drying out parts of the substrate by pushing the watering too much, which could affect the roots. Additionally, this hydration will help prevent spider mites, which thrive in dry environments with low humidity. This week, I'm watering with varied nutrients and a moderate concentration to avoid blockages in nutrient absorption. deFharo Fifth week of flowering for this great Mostly Sativa strain with thirteen weeks of life from seed.... welcome!! The vegetative growth is already scarce, this week it has only grown two centimeters... but the flowers are growing everywhere, more beautiful every day, bigger every day!! The vertical structure of the plant is ideal for my growing style and available space, the great strength it shows in the stem and branches makes me foresee a spectacular harvest, but first, I hope it gifts me with splendid moments of an advanced flowering sativa. Water consumption is very high, I water every two days. The old school 7L pot with homemade aeration has regained my trust, after months of failures due to poorly made substrates. Today, this pot proves once again its efficiency. I keep the plant hydrated without allowing the substrate to dry out, so it doesn't affect the root system; anyway, the plant is the one in charge. This week I had to make an extra contribution of Magnesium and Calcium because it had been two weeks without Ormus, which is the source I use for Ca and Mg. The plant started showing signs of Magnesium deficiency in some of the older leaves, and the fact that this plant was the first to show Mg deficiency indicates to me that it consumes many more nutrients than others on the same diet. Well, I made a solid contribution with Dolomite (Ca, Mg... 1.5g = 0.3g/liter of soil), Epsom Salt (Mg... 3g = 0.6g/liter of soil), Azomite (Ca, Mg, Si, K... 1.5g) and Illite (Si, Fe, Mn... 1.5g). Two days ago, I went to collect water from the Cantabrian Sea and I have already restored my Ormus reserve!! Interestingly, it's the first time I observe a Magnesium deficiency... very interesting to know. Currently, this plant shares a closet with two other plants, plants of the same age and similar pots. deFharo Welcome, marijuana growers, to the sixth week of flowering of this sativa-dominant strain, currently "The Queen of my joy garden"... God save the Queen!! 😍 Another week of easy and satisfying cultivation, the plant has stopped vegetative growth and is focusing on creating flowers, the same flowers that appear all along the branches and promise a great harvest with long and thick colas. The magnesium deficiency marks that appeared last week are history after applying dolomite and Epsom salt on the surface, and the recovery, for watering, of Ormus (Ca, Mg). Throughout this week, there have been very low relative humidity levels, around 30%, and high temperatures. I have sprayed the plants with water several times to increase humidity in the cabinets, and I have also activated two small humidifiers, and above all, I have kept the plants very hydrated. Fortunately, the weather changed yesterday, and it has started to rain with a drop in temperatures. Since there was a spider appearance in another grow, I also sprayed this plant with potassium soap. The water consumption of this grow is very high, and on dry days, it increases even more. I have kept and continue to keep the substrate very hydrated to promote liquid circulation while taking care of the health of the roots. After 45 days of anaerobic fermentation, I have opened what I hope will be a great fertilizer to use from the vegetative growth stage to pre-flowering and the first weeks of flowering. Pumpkin and carrot contain a multitude of minerals and vitamins that help strengthen the grow and aid in root expansion. This preparation is functionally comparable to seaweed extracts, although much more complete. This vegetable is rich in antioxidants. Its carotene content stands out, which is responsible for the characteristic color of pumpkin. Could this influence the colors of the strains?... under observation!! Thanks to anaerobic fermentation with Mountain Microorganisms, the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals are chelated by the action of the MM, thus achieving a top-quality nutrient broth that the plants assimilate immediately. I have also done a pre-hydrolysis with the shrimp shell; this time I did an alkaline hydrolysis with KOH, which after two hours I add to the final mixture, along with a solution in water, with a lot of agitation, of the minerals. I dissolve all the elements and add fresh beer yeast to start fermentation. I place the Solid Mountain Microorganisms from my two seedbeds in a mesh bag, where I gather the Microorganisms (Bacteria from the Actinomycetes family, Yeasts, and Fungi (Mycorrhizae), Microalgae, and Protozoa) from six virgin forests in my area. I seal the container hermetically with a gas escape valve. Since it’s January and it’s cold, I have put a heat tape around the container to maintain a constant temperature of approximately 36°C, so the preparation can be ready in just 30 days. If left at room temperature, the preparation would take an additional 2 months to be available for use. Fermentation began at 60 minutes and has lasted for 25 days without interruption. I opened the container at 45 days; the fermented smell is very pleasant, the color is fantastic, and some Microorganisms can be seen thriving on the surface. I separate half a liter to start using it and close the container again. I have several budding grows where I will apply this fertilizer and observe its effects. deFharo Welcome, grower friend, to the eleventh week of flowering of the sativa queen in my joy garden. As is usual in almost all my organic grows, the flowering periods always extend beyond the producer's indications, and this plant is no exception; it still has a lot of energy left to continue growing and fattening the buds, I’m probably two or three weeks away from harvest. Notable growth and fattening of the buds with an increase in smell and density. The branches and stem are currently holding up the weight very well. At a slow but steady pace, the plant is sucking nutrients from the older leaves, feeding the shoots above them, which then fall exhausted to the substrate, becoming part of the mulch, to continue feeding the microbiology and allowing it to keep working on the breakdown and mineralization of the organic matter. WEEKLY ACTIVITY 😊 GENERAL INFO 😋 For all my watering mixes, I use mountain and rainwater mixed at 50% (EC: 0.16). Since I have this water stored, I structure it for at least 15 minutes with a magnetic stirrer to oxygenate it and also to recover an ordered molecular structure, which favors cation exchange (nutrient assimilation). As a result of the structuring of the watering water, I can use lower concentrations of nutrients, up to 40% less. All the soluble fertilizers I use and some solids (Bioles, Lactoferments, Hydrolyzed...) are of my own creation and formulation; I use purely organic components and residues to create them. Every day I turn the pots 90° for an equivalent light distribution on all sides, since in addition to the main lamp, a Mars Hydro TS1000 with an average spectrum of 3600K, I use side lights and others with very specific spectrums (2200K, 2700K, 3000K, 660nm, 735nm, and UVB) aimed at specific areas of the grow tent. PH: 6.79, EC: 1.00. 1100ml. - Day 130. I water again to boost flowering and the efficient assimilation of the watering components, this time with humic and fulvic acids, PK, and Microorganisms. Components of the mix: Potassium hydrolysate from leonardite with phosphorus (Humate PK), Activated Mountain Microorganisms in liquid form (MMA Basic), and molasses to sweeten the mix and give energy to the substrate microbiology. PH: 6.40, EC: 1.15. 1100ml. - Day 132. Deep and continuous watering boosting flowering with a mix of humic and fulvic acids with PK (Humate PK) with Activated Mountain Microorganisms (Basic) sweetened with molasses. The mix of these 3 components is very suitable for an advanced flowering phase, and where we have previously ensured the presence of macro and micronutrients, the mix is simple in relation to nutrients, just humic-fulvic, phosphorus, and potassium. This hydrolysate is alkaline, lowering the pH with Activated Mountain Microorganisms in liquid form that are very acidic. Additionally, the large amount of humified and liquid organic matter provided by the leonardite hydrolysate is the ideal combination with the microbiology, as organic matter is their food, and in this case, since it is pre-digested, it is much better because we make it much easier for the Microorganisms to quickly digest and mineralize this organic matter, and the third component, molasses, to give energy to the MM so they work and reproduce much more and to compensate for the high sugar consumption in this advanced flowering phase of the plant. Aromas of herbs and flowers surround the buds, and the great density of these reminds me of an indica. Water consumption remains very high, I water deeply every 48 hours, and this week the plant has consumed 3810ml, which is 2.5% more than the previous week. In the last 7 days, I have watered with 3635ml. WEEKLY ACTIVITY 😱 - Day 134. Watering with a mix of macro and micronutrients to strengthen the crop against the heatwave, using my Biol multi-fruits with minerals and Activated Mountain Microorganisms at 2.5%, molasses, Activated Mountain Microorganisms (Basic) at 0.5%, and Ormus (Ca, Mg...) at 1% to raise the pH: 6.8, EC: 1.20. 1000ml. - Day 136. deFharo Welcome, fellow growers, to week 13 of flowering for this sativa-dominant strain and to the tenth or twelfth joint of the day 😜... the grow is reaching glory!! 🤓 The buds are unstoppable with resin production, mercilessly sucking up all the nutrients from the surrounding leaves in a collaborative survival exercise, with no trace of amber trichomes and plenty of clear ones. The great density of the buds is admirable for a sativa strain, and the aromas keep increasing in intensity, dominating the whole environment. I work next to this plant, perfumed and intoxicated all day... and if I close my eyes, I can imagine many scenarios! 🌴🍄🌵🌲🍋🌶️🌻🍀 I maintain a high concentration of light on the bud canopy, and this week I've noticed growth in the central secondary buds. - I'm in no rush to harvest; when the first amber trichomes appear and I check that the rest are milky, I'll cut it without regrets 🙈 Water consumption has dropped by 33% this week compared to the previous one, a significant drop in temperatures and having it in my cooler tent have contributed, yet the irrigation water consumption remains high. deFharo Welcome fellow growers to week 14 of flowering for this sativa-dominant strain, today has also been its last day of glory. After the last two waterings with mountain water and molasses, moving it to a new tent last week, and reducing the light schedule from 13/11 to 12/12, after letting the substrate dry, today, at dawn in its grow tent, I cut this great plant. It has been a long journey of 21 weeks of cultivation that has been worth it. Sage 'n Sour was the queen of my garden for weeks, and today, as I cut and manicured it, it proved it deserved it. I managed to get 158g of top buds wet and 192g from the rest of the flowers, since the substrate was well dried I hope to get more than 100g of good organic weed, for now it will be drying for 7-8 days before moving it to curing, that will be when I make my first assessment of the quality of the weed. Today I cut two plants, and the comparison is inevitable, both the same height, but this one has been more productive and above all it has left me with a lot more hash on my fingers. This strain was a vigorous plant from the start; I grew it without ties, just a top cut to increase production and limit height. When it came time to cut and clean the buds, my fingers were soaked in hash like never before!!
