Starting a Twisted Cookies 35 days into my Alien Moonrocks grow, to begin my perpetual harvest setup. Hoping to pull down 1-2 plants every 4-5 weeks.
I picked the biggest and healthiest looking seed of the 5 I received in a trade. Gave it a quick rinse with some hydrogen peroxide, then straight into a small cup of distilled water. It sank to the bottom within 3 hours and had a tiny little stream of bubbles coming out of it at the 4 hour mark. So I got it’s cup of Fox Farms Happy Frog ready, added some rinsed perlite, mixed in some Bigfoot brand granular mycorrhizae, soaked it to runoff and popped her in. I have a “tool” that I made to make a hole exactly 3/4” deep, which allows 1/8-1/4” of space for some myco in the hole before the seed, while still getting at least 1/2” of soil over the seed to help with hull removal on its way up.
I’m a subscriber to the “let nature do it’s thing” process, so I won’t be doing paper towel germs. To each their own, and I know people have done it that way, with great success, since forever. But, to be totally fair, nature has been doing it, also with great success, for even longer, and without paper towels. In reality I’m just paranoid about leaving them too long and then damaging those tiny little root hairs on the baby taps. So this way is easiest and best for me.
I’m using the FFHF as a buffer. Once she’s ready to go into the 5 gallon fabric grow bag, she’ll be in Michigan Made Mix, or M3, “water only” super soil. I’m going to attempt a true water only grow, but the moment I notice discolored leaves, I’m putting pride aside and giving her some cal-mag. I’ll be maintaining the 70/30 soil/perlite ratio in the M3 soil, and using more of the Bigfoot brand mycorrhizae when I fill that bigger pot. I will try to list any and all brands that I use, to give credit for their success/failure. I’ll try to be as impartial and unbiased as possible, and take any responsibility for failure before I simply say “This product did ________ to my plant! Don’t use it!”. Honestly, really, let’s face it, beginners make tons of mistakes and use products wrong all the time.
Excited to be here and to document this grow! She’s supposed to be a frost factory of a strain, so stay tuned for that! I’ll add pics after break-out if I can, if not, I’ll do a text update when she says hello to the world and gets her name. Feel free to follow along!
