Woo-hoo! Time for another round on Barney’s Farm genetics! And a new one I haven’t tried yet, yah!!!! One of my favourite breeders to grow, they never disappoint! Had these seeds for awhile now so I figured I’d give the 3 of them a go along side a single feminized Alien Technology plant in my RDWC setup. So seeds went directly into a cup of water for the first 12hrs overnight and then I placed them directly into wet rock wool cubes and back into the dry cups and covered them for about 24hrs. I then put them in my single 3 gal starter DWC buckets/clay pebbles under a 18/6 light schedule. 2 came up the next day and the third one needed some help shedding her seed and skin off and she was up the next day. 3 for 3 again👍 Got them in just plain water with 3ml/gal UC Roots added. I’m keeping the rock wool moist and watering the clay pebbles around it for the roots to explore outwards. I have very small rock wool cubes this time as I bought them by mistake, but gonna try them and see how they do. They really aren’t much bigger then the seeds....lol humidity was low to start so I added a humidifier to the tent and was able to get it up to 50% or so. This will do I think as they are sitting directly over a bucket of bubbling water as well. Temps are stable around 25c in the day and drop to about 20 at night. Well that’s it for this week, Cheers! 💨
Everything went good this week, having trouble keeping the humidity up but I got some plans to rectify that soon. Lol roots are all down into the buckets now except the runt of the litter in the back corner. But we are only a week in so it’s still early for her. Just been feeding plain water ph’d at 5.8 with some UC Roots added. Been scooping a cup of water daily from there bucket and pooring it over the rock wool and pebbles back into the bucket just to keep things wet and the roots moving. They are sitting around 5000 lux and seem to be enjoying it. I’m just using a phone app with a paper diffuser to test it but it seems to be pretty good and didn’t cost much. Well that’s about it for this week, be back again next week, Cheers💨
Missed a couple weeks on this grow, gonna try and catch it up with pics I took over the grow. Unfortunately Christmas season I didn’t really take much pics of my plants. Lol but these girls are a beautiful plant, vigorous growth and easy to grow so far. Cheers 💨
All rite...here we go! Lol end of week 2 of flowering and plants are in full stretch mode now. I let them grow about a foot above the first netting and at the end of week 2 I did a huge defoliation and tied everything back down to the screen. Took a long time! Lol everything is even again though and all is well. We will let them grow up from here and tuck anything that gets above the screen to much. Gonna try and end with a canopy just above the first screen to maximize light penetration to all nodes. So far so good! Cheer 💨
Mid way through week three in these pics and all is good so far. They stretched up a bit more this week and I am continuing to tuck and remove the large guard leaves where needed. I will continue this til the end of week 3 then I will do a final small defoliation of all the larger leaves and let her go do her own thing for the rest of the grow. I’m trying something different then I normally do this go round in this tent, as I’m trying to maximize bud sites on the net. Usually my motto is less defoliation is best, but I decided to see what happens when I go the opposite with it and defoliate to the max during the first 2 weeks of flowering then keep everything open for the third week with selective defoliation. So far so good, we will see what happens when bud sites lock in. Well we are all caught now on this diary, see ya next week! Cheers 💨
Just finishing up week 3 of flower. Did another defoliation on day 21 but you can’t tell now...lol everything’s been rolling along nicely so far. Been feeding them around 8 gal of water every 2-3 days. Well that’s it for now, easy growing so far! Cheers 💨
End of week 4 and things are still moving along despite a few hiccups. Ended up over feeding them at the end of last week and this week we have dropped there ppm down to the 450 ppm mark untill they come around. Didn’t really do to much damage except burn my leaves a bit and maybe slowed there growth a bit this week. Got a laser temperature gun for another project and I’m now able to check my canopy temperature too and it’s great. Canopy sits around 24-25 in the center of the screen and between 21-23 on the rest. Got around 65 D.L.I on the canopy's tallest area in the Center of the screen directly under the light when it passes over. The 1000w HPS is on the rail mover so it’s keeping things from burning and getting too intense. I recently added 2 x 1000x(180w actual) LED “Blurple” lights I had kicking around not been used so I through them in the tent to add some different light spectrums that the HPS doesn’t have. Just a little added extra kick for them, why not rite?...lol been struggling to keep humidity up across all my tents really, got the bare minimum everywhere and only one 1gal humidifier to run in the big room. Temperatures were cold the last week outside in the -20c range so my basement was a bit cold despite the one baseboard heater, which makes things even drier! Lol There has been no need to use either of my air conditioners in my tents for a month or so now even with the 2 x 1000w HPS lights in tents running side x side in the same room. Which is good cause they also drastically drop my humidity, the lights and the air conditioners...ugh. Lol well that’s if so far for now, Cheers 💨
These girls are looking like they are sprayed with fake snow...lol so sticky icky to play with. Took off a lower outside branch for scoping and these girls are looking close. They have signs of some amber and we are gonna let them go a bit longer to harvest closer with the alien tech hopefully. They definitely didn’t like being neglected a little bit and ph/Ec swung a bit in the middle of flowering and cause some issues a bit, nothing major though. Definitely not for the beginning grower that’s for sure, very finicky...lol got the nutrients lowered for the last week and then there getting the chop! Lol got more girls needing the room, but there looking good. Till next week, Cheers 💨
This strain is a nice night time smoke for sure! Very finicky strain to grow though, very sensitive to over nutes and hard to come back from afterwards. We ended up with allot still from the 3 girls but nothing really big at all. Mostly smaller-medium sized buds and a lot of nice sugar leaf. Taste is very earthy.
This was a fun strain to grow untill things started going sideways! Lol this is a very finicky strain and is very sensitive to nutrients. I had my ppm skyrocket at one point and they kinda went down hill from there. Lol I grew these 3 girls along side an Alien Tech in the exact same tent/res setup and the alien tech exploded and gave me some nice big fat nugs all over the place, the other 3 girls didn’t even come close unfortunately. We had 1 of these 3 girls give us some nicer nugs but mainly we had ALLOT of smaller-medium size ones. Once the buds were dried and cured though it was some amazing smoke. Tastes like dirt and has purple all over the buds. Absolutely covered in tricombs too! One one the craziest tricombs producing plants I’ve grown to date for sure. Be warned though that this is not for beginner growers or smokers. hits you hard and puts you to sleep when you come down so stay topped up or crash in your bed, those are your only options. Lol great smoke for people who have trouble sleeping and also a great pain reducer as well. Makes my back pain melt away and let’s me sleep comfortably. Overall I probably won’t grow it again, or recommend a newer grower try it, even me having decades of experience had a hard time with this one. But the end result is amazing, if I tried again I would definitely pay closer attention to them for sure. Definitely has potential anyways. well that’s it for this grow, see ya all on the next one hopefully! Cheer! 💨
sorry russ , advised in defol and stuff , never realised exp level. lol.
I still get caught in the dilemma of defol or not and how much to do if I do choose to defol. seen great examples both options but always worried about over stressing with an auto. Normally I do photoperiod but giving the autos a good run in winter to try and find a way that works for them too.
@Ganjagrandaddy, np man! I’m just experimenting with my new tent setups and seeing what works best. Got 5 grows down now in each tent and it’s getting better each time. Lol I used to be one of those guys who frowned on any defoliation. Lol Now I’m just trying out new techniques and seeing what happens. With my setups I do 4 plants in RDWC in a 4x8 tent with a 1000watt HPS on a rail mover, so autos are not really an option for me if I want to fill the screens. Lol I’ve dappled with a few autos in my day but prefer photo just cause I can have lower plant counts and manipulate them to what I want. Lol still always learning something new with each grow though and always appreciate any advice anyone might have. Cheers 💨
