It's winter time!! Time of the year where naturally my home has very low RH because of heating. It is also best time to exhaust outside without the need of expensive filters.
So... Is this OG Kush legit?? A true OG kush stands out for it's smell and unique terpene profile. I could nor find a lot of growers who can report about Phoenix's try on this famous strain so I will be here to let you know. What I can tell about Phoenix is I tried their Super Kush and it was the best harvest I had so far.
Oldest plant had soil issue. Leaves curl down and fan leaves got bone dried before they had chance to yellow. Let's see if she bounce back! Soil used was from last crop so maybe it was a little hot for her roots. Could be a chunk of amendments maybe. They all got transplanted with one part of coco I have mixed in and the response seems positive. Nothing else special to report. I am battling with low RH in my house. Slow start so far but they are all even and happy.
These plants are coming along nicely! All of them seems uniform: Leaf shape, internode space, grow rate, and mostly SMELL!!! Yes! feels like the holy grail! Really have good hope for them.
Still as they grow, because of environment and mistakes I make they are not all identical. They have been identified as pheno 1 to 4.
This update is a little late. Just got busy.
Here is the good news: This OG Kush is looking legit! Large fan leaves, thick main stem, vinely growing side branches. And the SMELL!! YESS!!!
Despite this great outcome I still have issues to make them happy and my soil is getting old and weak. Been waiting on amendments I've ordered online they should arrive by tomorrow. They suffer K deff and overall lack of micro. Waiting was so long I got time to make a banana ferment (Korean natural farming FFJ) and will harvest it tomorrow.
Just lost 2 plants. Overwatered. The lasts 2 have been topped, defoliated and transplanted. They seems to be very picky about food and soil moisture. Soil was amended with double dose of minerals, Kelp meal, EWC, miccorhizal fungi and leftover of power bloom.
plants are potassium hungry! I have been waiting for them to show signs of recovery to put them in bloom. Plant 1 is tall and columnar. I think it was a mistake to top it so late ans could have ended with a long donkey dick cola. Well let's hope It works and worth it! Plant 2 is a little more uniform and got topped as well.
It's been about 2 weeks lights were switch to 12-12 and today is the first day of flowering. Both plants have stopped to stretch (less than doubled) and stayed fairly small. They will probably be low yielder, but next time I will veg my OG Kush differently and will fit more plants per sq. ft than usual. I plan to put them in my veg grow box under 12-12 to finish them flowering while my other plants (AK and Malawi) will goes in tent to use all the good space to flower.
Let's keep in mind: The only thing I care about for these is SMELL & TASTE!!!!!
Both plant have grown a few inches in their 3rd week from 12-12. I moved them in my grow cabinet were it is a little hotter. So far they do not seems to complain but I need to set a fan ASAP in their or they won't bulk properly. Smell is not has intense as anticipated (expected or wanted). But when I rub the stems I know I am up for something good!!
Plant one is a very columnar phenotype with a lot of auxins. Topping it was a mistake. Or should have been topped at 3rd node with hardcore LST. I bet I would have got better yield with shorter vegetation and no topping, resulting in one fat cola.
Just realised I forgot to update last week 😵😔 Oh, well, nothing special to report at this point, just cruising along....
Plant 1 have ribbed leaves got no clue why (If you know let me know😇) Leaves are also responding a aggressively to light as they could use some more.
I am changing setup in next week post.
Well, OG kush got moved again!👉 👉
As this is an improvement in environment I expect minimal to zero stress. It has been 36hrs since and so far so good!! 😇
Og Kush starts to bulk in. With my new setup I improved nigh temp and air flow. They also have about twice more light than before. Plant 2 was really reaching for light: tall and lanky, twisted leaves to face light source... I am looking forward improvements has she sits 18 inch away from 600w hortilux😛😎!!
It also clears off my veg. zone witch I will soon need for garden propagation (mostly tomatoes.. I cannot grow outdoor were I live because of light pollution (street and city light) during dark cycle.
These ladies are at the point were they are stucked in time and just about to show ripening signs in any days. It will be a small harvest. Plant 1 will have rock hard buds.
Let's talk about smell! They both smell like the cleaning product cupboard with a touch of rotten. I Love it. Very addictive and narcotic smell. But This is not what I expected as far of classic OG Kush sold by the bikers (local cut? ...). I know I need to grow Karma's Biker Kush but it is always sold out.... Time will tell. Harvest will come, drying and curing will happen and THEN, only THEN! I will be able to tell if These OG Kush are legit.
This is week 7 of flowering and week 9 from flip
Despite negative pressure in tent going straight outside a deep kushy smell 😳 is easy to recognise when I come home. Happiness is in the air!! 👏👏
Plant 1 (tall and lanky) is slowly shows signs of firsts pistils changing colour on a few flowers. Very early stage. Her trichomes are growing almost straight out milky looking very narcotive. If I touch the buds they are feeling oily wet. The smell is the same for both phenotype: very lemony and pine like cleaning products with a touch of rotten. Amazing and addictive!!
Plant 2 (more uniform) is just a little behind and have a looser bud structure. Her Yield will be a little better.
I cannot wait for harvest!
These OG Kush will be legit. They are coming along beautifully and the smell is dank, skunky and kushy. Some hair are turning orange lightly and trichomes are milky. I think they will be ready in 2 weeks. Plant 1 is a few days ahead.
I am pissed and fed up with this grow....This is week 11 from flip and pistils shows no signs of ambering or maturity. Temps are out of control and smell is evaporating. It is 30F above normal here. Plants have ugly foxtailing and complete re-flower. Plant 1 is chopable but 2nd one needs 2 weeks.... I don't have room to hang to dry in a decent environment.
Temperature are lower this week but Plant 1 top flowers have been damaged, and by being closer to the light as well. Overall she still look delicious and fire. I am chopping her tomorrow. Plant 2 can benefit an extra week. No amber trichomes at all.
This is chop day for phenotype 1!
She was kindly put in flower on February 2nd, and took about 11 weeks to finish. I am chopping her despite no amber trichomes, and despite she still pushes with hairs. Flowers have been damaged by heat and light, and smell is getting weaker. Breeder's calendar plans for 8 weeks but she had completely re-flowerd a few times.
Resin production is just ridiculous! Combined with that dank skunky, gazzy smell she looks like a killer threat. Usually at this time of the year temps are too cold for neighbours to be outside but this year is especially hot. The smell coming out of my tent is too intense! Neighbours won't miss her.
This phenotype grew with very few sugar leaves and took only a few minutes to trim. She also had only a few fan leaves and grew very columnar. Would do awesome in a SOG setup. Yield will be great if I consider she used about 3 sg ft of floor. Buds are light green with small to medium trichomes and small hairs. Very similar to breeders pic.
Chop day for Plant 2!!
She could have stayed in bloom for an extra 2 weeks. Really she just kept pushing with no signs of stopping. I am chopping her because this is week 13 and Hermaphrodism and or botritis mught be on the corner. Anyway resin production was amazing on this phenotype as well. Smell is more pine than rotten with same citrus skunky background.
