Germination
Originally started two seeds with the paper towel method. One popped sooner than the other and was planted and sprouted. The other eventually popped but the tail was really short.. however I planted it anyway but it never sprouted.. Tried a third seed with a combo of soaking and paper towel methods.. again short tail and was planted but alas no sprout again.. These seeds however are about 2 years old and have been stored in the fridge.. also the temperature may have been a bit too cold for proper germination, or at least high germination rate.. But looks like we have the one seed germinated and sprouted and off to a healthy start!

•Mixed 14 gallons of Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil with 10 tablespoons of Dr. Earth's Organic Tomato, Vegetable, and Herb fertilizer and 1 teaspoon of Living Organics. •Put the germinated seed in 1/4 gallon pot with pre soaked soil with fertilizer mixture •Sprouted on 12/07 •Watered again on 12/08 The humidity has been lower than I'd like, I put an essential oil diffuser with straight water in the tent to help raise it, as well as misting in the morning with water

She's growing steady, had some nice white roots pop out the bottom. I think I read somewhere that once the roots reach the bottom and air prune they'll start more growth horizontally to fill the space. Watered twice or thrice this week with 1 liter each watering. The nodes are starting to grow their lil shoots, growing the third node spacing now. Still trying to decide how I want to train her. Originally wanted to try a manifold but thinking maybe a scrog would be better..? If anyone wants to put in their two cents let me know what you think I should do! I've never done either, only topping and low stress training.. I plan on having another plant in this space but it will be younger than this one by at least two weeks.. This week had been pretty easy though just checking the nutrient ph and getting it to where it needs to be and letting her do her plant thing!

This has been an exciting and perhaps slightly stressful week for her.. Transplanted her into a 7 gallon fabric pot first thing this week. She powered through it just fine, no signs of transplant shock other than perhaps slightly slowed growth.. but that's probably to be expected after any transplant as the plant focuses on growing it's roots.. A little bit of growth in height but the focus has mainly been on the shoots.. I pruned the shoots at the 1st node because in my past experience the first shoots tend to not grow or produce bud as well as the newer shoots do.. Near the end of this week I topped her at the 5th node, leaving her with 4 nodes/8 shoots (because of removing the first shoots).. Will probably top again but we'll see when we get there! Planning on doing a scrog on her.. Also been using a neem and Rhizotonic foliar spray.. not sure how much the Rhizotonic is doing but Neem oil is a good organic pesticide and fungicide.. Neem Foliar Spray: 1 QT water 1/2 tablespoon Neem Oil 2ml Rhizotonic Overall this week has gone pretty well and excited to see her continue to grow!

So this week was a bit different for me.. I was gone most of this week and left some premixed fertilizer water for my roommate to water the plants for me.. I watered the 27th before I left and I had them water the plant with 2 liters of fertilizer every three days so they watered the 31st and the 3rd.. It was a bit nerve racking to leave my baby behind and in someone else's care but I instructed and showed them exactly what to do and left them a to-do list. I also had them turn on the fan and add water to the mister for me.. I was worried that I either left too little fertilizer water or instructed them to water too often but I got back and she's looking perfectly healthy and happy! The shoots have grown tremendously and she's big and bushy now! Basically doubled in size! The very first set of true leaves turned yellow, not sure if that's just from age or maybe she needs a bit more nitrogen.. either way she'll be getting more nitrogen with how much she's growing and to prepare her for flowering.. I don't have as many pictures since I was gone but I have a few from the beginning of the week and on the days she got watered while I was gone.. She's ready to start some lst with the scrog net this upcoming week, stay tuned in for more plant growth :)

Magnesium deficiency? PH problem? Other? How should I go about fixing this? Overall the plant looks healthy but the lower/older leaves are starting to get some spots.. I want to figure this out before it spreads..

I am gonna go with your soil ph is likely riding the line. Test what ph is of run off to see what substrate is at. Then if need to adjust add proper ph solution till desired run off ph. Lock out from ph can cause all kinda issues. Good luck and happy growing 🌲🌲🌲👊

So this week was going well until I noticed some spots on some lower leaves as well as wilting.. I decided to flush the soil with water Ph'd at around 7 and the runoff was coming out around 5! I added about 7 tablespoons of dolomite lime the the surface of the soil and flushed again with water around 6.5 and it came out around 5~5.5 again.. I don't have the exact PH because I use General Hydroponics ph test kit which is the type you have to compare the color of the liquid with the ph color chart which they don't actually include?! There's a nutrient availability chart and a chart on the label of the test solution but they don't match up so it's confusing to tell what the ph is, especially when the nutrient solution is a yellowish brown color to begin with.. I'm wondering if I've been feeding too much Humic Acid and it's built up in the soil..? I've been using the recommended amount but we know how that usually goes 😂 The bottle says you can't use too much but it's literally got acid in the name so surely it could make the soil too acidic..? I'm looking into getting ph test strips.. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'd eventually like to invest in a ph meter but don't have the funds to drop on one right now as they're a bit pricey.. does anyone know of one that's reliable and cheap..? This is my first grow that I've had to worry about PH as I used to use the Ph Perfect line from Advanced Nutrients.. nutrient lockout was likely- but not from Ph.. at least I'd assume as I never tested the ph while using it.. 🙄 Goes to show "easier" is not always better- make mistakes and learn from them.. THAT'S HOW WE GROW Every grow is a learning experience and I've already learned much from this one! But anyway she's still kicking and I hope I can get the ph figured out.. She's really taken to the scrog training and has become quite a bush in just one week! She should be ready for flowering soon, I'm trying to hold off the switch until my other plant in the tent is a bit bigger and can handle flowering.. I don't expect as much for her as she's younger and smaller.. All-Ball on the other hand I'm already having trouble keeping her small even before the stretch! I hope her bud growth matches her veg growth!

Much of this week was dedicated to letting the soil dry out after a flush as the soil ph was starting to get too low. I wound up getting the Apera PH20 tester as thought it'd be a good investment for growing and a better solution to the ph testing with the drops and color charts. So far it's worked fine and came already calibrated out of the box. Much easier to test the ph now. I finally got the soil ph back on track as when I watered last the runoff came out the same as when it went in (6.1) I think the flush stunted growth a bit but so did the ph being too low. Now she's back to being healthy :) I've been continuing to do lst on her with the scrog net. However she's met the limit of space in which I can train her. Thinking it'll be about a week or two max before I switch to flowering. I would have already done it by now but I'm trying to give my other photoperiod plant in the tent time to catch up and be big enough to begin flowering. Overall pretty easy week

Pretty easy week for her. Gained a few inches in height and is definitely ready for the switch- which will be happening this upcoming week. The canopy isn't entirely even but I'm pretty happy with it regardless, it's my first time doing a scrog and I like how much easier the training is compared to tieing down the branches, which can get to be pretty tedious.. Her branches are pretty thick and sturdy and I'm excited to see how flowering goes. Also she's got a very sweet, resinous smell just from touching her and I can't wait to smell the buds!

Flipped the lights to 12/12 for flowering on 01/25 Showing the white hairs to prove she's female. Tried to cut the amount of Nitrogen down to limit the stretch but she was still pretty hungry for it so I bumped it back up. She's pretty thirsty as well, watering every two to three days.. Stretched a good bit so far.. Did some light defoliation and cut two branches I thought were pretty weak to focus energy on stronger colas.. Pretty easy week and ready to see the buds start forming!! She's looking healthy and strong!!

She was still pretty hungry for Nitrogen, cut back Nitrogen for flowering but she lost a fair bit of lower leaves due to Nitrogen deficiency. Not a big deal because they needed to be defoliated anyway. I think she's about done with her stretch, thank goodness. Been doing some defoliation/ lollipopping to focus energy on the top bud sites. I bet her buds will come in strong! Most important thing happening now is patience!

Buds starting to come in! All is going well. Not too much to say about this week. Just excitement about watching the buds starting to grow. I've been super pleased with the ph testing pen I got. It's easy to use and super helpful with making sure the fertilizer solution is at the right ph and checking soil runoff to make sure the soil isn't off. It's the Apera ph20 test kit if you're looking to buy a reliable, cheap, easy to use ph pen. Make sure to get the KCl storage solution as well. Been using that and no problems whatsoever. I can't attest to a more long term reliability but I've had it quite a few weeks with no problems.
