I’m quite a novice when it comes to growing auto’s but I thought I’d give it a try after seeing the huge colas some people are producing online.
To be honest I’ve never really been too scientific either about growing a bit of bud in the past.
just recently I have been trying to research in order to gaining more knowledgeable information on how to grow big fat buds.
After reading many reviews I decided to give the Hulkberry a try.
Week1:
3rd Nov :Germinate seed sandwiched between cotton pads left on a warm surface.
5th Nov : successful germination. Showing a lovely thick root. Planted in a small pot of normal soil.
7th Nov : She’s popping out the soil. In between the Cotyledons she’s Displaying her first set of true leaves already.
8th Nov : she’s looking beautiful, standing to attention. I placed her on the kitchen window sill to enjoy the morning sunshine. 1.5 cm tall
9th Nov : looking great, placed back on a warm surface. I need to get my tent set up lively at this point.
10th Nov : Got the tent set up. I had a bit of a crazy moment and wanted to experiment a little even with the minimal knowledge I have about it. I used a bit of fresh normal compost, a bit of old used compost, a small amount of worm castings, some chopped up vegetables and around 5/10 red tiger worms from my wormery.
I kinda hope everything will be ok
Ok so I’ve already made my first mistake. Lol I’ve added this weeks grow report in the germination week. And I’m not too sure how to edit etc yet.
So I’m just gonna press on with it.
I read somewhere that I should begin to feed auto flowers as soon as it get its first true leaves.
I watered her avoiding the stem by literally just dripping it slowly drip by drip with a syringe.
Also a friend of mine told me to put her under the light as close as possible the first few days to ensure it doesn’t stretch too much.
I managed to get my little tent set up after day5 of germination.
Please note that a carbon filter wasn’t installed inside the tent at this time. So the humidity and temperature were at quite high levels but she seems to be off to a great start.
This week I ended up getting myself a TDS meter for measuring the ppm. This is all new to me so it’s been trial and error with tap water and rain water. Simply because my tap range is like 390/420 and the water butt water is only around 0.15 or less.
I think I’m smoking way too much whilst I’m researching and I’m getting information overload hahah.
This week she formed nicely with lots of new leaf growth but no stretch so I’m pleased about that.
On day 13 I noticed slight curling of the leaf so again I had to bring her down a few more inches.
The very next day on day 14 I had to take action she looked a little exhausted.
Could of it been the rain water that done this?
Again I haven’t a clue but I’m sure someone on here will advise me regarding this. Your advice would be appreciated. After all thats what this is all about right? So we can learn off each other.
I have grown a fair few strains in my garden and green house in the summer months and have produced some beautiful plants. I hope to get some of my written diaries up here in future but for now I need to concentrate on my beautiful girl I have now.
Back to the hulkberry grow...
I’ve been giving her fresh foliage spray every morning ratio of bio bizz : 0.5ml alg-a-mic + 0.5ml fish mix.
I will be switching from grow to fish mix next week, I hear this helps promote bigger yields.
What do you lot think about this.?
I done some l.s.t on her too on day 14. She was already stressed so I thought a little more shouldn’t hurt too much.
Week 3
Switched from grow to fish mix this week.
This week she had a bit of stress with being too close to the light but after moving her down she seemed fine. She’s a resilient girl, I’ve made many mistakes already but she just bounces back.
Installation of carbon filter on day 19.
Used rain water again this week seems to be no problems so far.
A friend told me I need to purchase some calmag and bio heaven. The only two ones I didn’t currently have.
I’m getting a little confused with using these organic products I’m used to using Dutch pro chems in the past but I’m sure I’ll get there in the end. There’s just so much to learn.
Week 4
At the beginning of this week she looked rather unhappy. Think I’m gonna leave off the rain water for a bit and go back to tap. I’ve ordered calmag and bio heaven so I can’t wait for these to arrive.
I also removed about 12 lower bud sites and defoliate. She’s a strong plant every morning I had to keep forcing the colas down.
She loves a spraying in the mornings :D
She’s drinking very well. And omg the size of the stem at this age I’ve never seen this before.
Toward the end of the week she went into flower. Is this right?
Happy with her so far
Week 5
So far I have really enjoyed watching this beautiful strain grow. I’ve had a few issues but she is so resilient. Great for any beginner like myself I reckon.
Beautiful growth and some of the lower branches are taller than the main cola. Awesome
I think she’s gonna pack out some peng bud.
Time will tell.
She’s beginning to smell ever so slightly
Week 6
Blooming beautifully.
The colas are really taking shape, although still tiny but I’m happy with it so far.
I added basil in the tent because I read it deters pests because of the pungent smell.
Had a slight issue with the run off this week so I assume there’s a build up of salt in the soil ? I’m gonna have to read up about what to do next. What do you think by the images in video?
Watered her with just alg-a-mic and ph’d down tap water to see if this helps.
Apart from that she’s smelling lovely in early hours when the electrical a switch off.
Sorry if my first diary has been a bit pony so far but I’ve had to play catch up. And I’m All up to date now.
Week 8
Apart from having some issues with a high run off I think she’s growing ok. Although she doesn’t look very healthy at the moment. I am not sure if it’s because I left my soil tester inside the soil. In which case I’ve taken it out now to see if there’s any difference.
She has yellowing leaves Burt tips and and brown spotting. I presume something isn’t right but being so close to harvest I don’t wanna set her back 2 weeks. Tomorrow morning will be day 59 going into week 9.
Shall I keep feeding or just ph water it? I don’t want it to affect my yield.
From one stoner to another your advice is appreciated always x peace out. Live, laugh be healthy and eat weed. Big love to all you growers. Happy new year !! 2021 let’s hope it’s the year they legalise this wonderful plant in uk. Wishful thinking but you never know aye.
Cockneycultivar
This week was a bit worrying as she was having issues with high run off again. I had to make the decision to begin flushing her with just ph water.
Day 61 ppm 429 run off 580!
Day 63 ppm 329 run off 730!!! I was panicking at this stage but I didn’t wanna be too drastic and put her into shock, sounds like she got nutrient lock out. but I had faith this hulkberry girl will still produce great tasting buds. She smells delightful. The colas are rock solid. I’m surprised I haven’t had to stake her up. I think because the stem is huge so it supports the weight better.
Day 65 end of week 9. Ppm 332 run off 272 (phew) that’s better.
The buds are packing out daily. I cannot wait to cure her off and enjoy her in edibles. Nom nom. trying to pack up smoking very soon so I times that perfect.
This week she’s smelling so peng. Literally cannot wait to taste her. I haven’t got a x30 loop eye piece so can’t check the trichomes proper but she looks nearly done. The thc is still milky from what I can see and most hairs are nearly all orange now. I’m flushing her every 3/4 days pure water now from the tap. Leaving her to dry in between last Run off at 378 which is pretty normal for my tap water. Biggest cola at 16.5cm circumference now. So looking forward to giving her the chop. Although She had been showing signs of stress throughout the grow it seems like nothing can stop the hulkberry from yielding a good harvest. Unbelievable I’ll be growing this in again for sure.
Beginning of week 11
Flushing her this week just pure tap water again to help get rid of the last of the remaining nutrients and salt build up that may be present. Checked the trichomes and they are very nearly ready, mostly cloudy with a few bits of amber here and there.
Colas are quite dense and the biggest is at 16cm circumference.
The leaves are literally falling off daily. A sure sign she’s maturing.
Throughout this grow I been worried about high ppm run offs due to nutrient lock out, heat stress and this lady hulkberry has still managed to produced lovely looking buds.
This strain I want to grow in my green house in the summer I reckon she’ll do great in there. I will definitely get this strain again. Nice one RQS. I can’t wait to chop her...she smells mouth watering like a fruity berry scent with that undeniable hint of diesel. I can’t wait to taste her.
This strain impressed me from the get go. Although I suffered her with some light stress and some issues with high run off and and build up she still managed to finish off perfectly. Lovely dense buds and she’s covered trichomes. She was harvested on 31 jan and is now curing off in glass mason jars and I’m burping x4/5 a day. I’ve tasted her today and although she’s not fully mature she tastes a bit berry with a hint of diesel.
I would say for defo a day time smoke. Perfect wake and bake strain. I would like to try this again outdoors next time in a greenhouse.
