Introduced pk 9/18 at 0.5 then 1ml/l. Using calmag every other watering and she doesn't seem to require more for now. I think terpinator is finally doing something. The leaves are smelling like citronella. I forgot to add it to my diary but i've started using it during the stretch. I'm still way below the rates, they say 10-30 ml per gal, that's roughly 7ml/l. Seems a bit much.

Thanks for using our nutrients! If you have any questions please get in touch. As for Terpinator, I suppose it comes down to how much limonene affects your perception of quality as that is the the terp that will be primarily increased. It's a great product at what it does, but can lead to some normalisation of tastes across strains.

@SHOGUN, that was an incredible explanation for us pleb only knowing bro science. I've seen a lot of people passing unconfirmed knowledge about how terpinator works, and getting actual facts from scientists is such a huge help. It's also great to read more about those products, how they actually work as opposed to obscure marketing oriented terms. thank you.

@biggreens420, This is an area that our PhD scientists are currently researching and we have an ongoing research project in collaboration with some major global medicinal producers looking at metabolite production. What I can tell you with complete certainty is that the genetics of your plant will determine the total potential production for any compound, but that many of the secondary metabolite prodcution including all of the THC and CBD compounds as well as terpenes are driven by plant defence pathways. The plant is producing nearly all of these for a defensive purpose such as a response to environment or pest attack. The SmartZen compound in our base nutrients exploits some of these pathways to increase nutrient uptake. Terpinator is a compound that makes the plants think that a certain defense pathway has been activated, thus causing the limonene production. I'm sure that it probably has other defensive actions also, but it seems that limonene production is the primary response. From our point of view, we feel that this compromises the genetic standard flavour of any given plant as it is imbalancing the terpene profile in favour of that one compound. Many of our products work in similar ways - PK Warrior for example (and all PK products to an extent) are stimulating the flowering response. Geisha stimulates flower site production by acting on a defence pathway. Dragon Force uses mineral nutrition to make the plant think that it is dying and therefore causing the plant to put in a final push to complete its reproductive cycle. There is an enormous amount that we still dont know about how plants work and that is why SHOGUN will always be at the forefront in perfromance - we're not just another nutrient manufacturer taking existing knowledge and putting a shiny brand on it - we are actually researchers and chemists who are constantly and continuously involved in university based research. I don't know of any other nutrient company in the hydro world that works in this way apart from the guys behind Mammoth P (who we are also hoping to collaborate with). Not to say there aren't great brands and products out there, but as time goes on we're confident that it will become clear who is actually innovating and who is simply rinsing and repeating other peoples research.
