Well here we are at week five, where the girls sort of show their hands. Blackberry is very deceptive with the red tips and slightly curling leaves making the flowers look a little dry, but under a loupe they look lush, probably another week to go before the flowers begin to fill out. Jedi on the other hand is just beginning to flower so I will be interested in how she rocks up next week. Blackberry shot up to 18+ inche and the Jedi is a bit below that although she looks less due to bending. I'm struggling a bit with how to defoliate the Jedi some more so I'll think I'll let her go for a few days then go in. Maybe I can get some sticks tied to the top of the pot in order to spread both girls out a bit.
I have just put the light on to maximum so they are pumping out 450W of true light, prolly about 520 at the power cord. I'll be changing the solution today up to about 2200ppm
@DoDrugs420, So true, thanks for viewing. I gotta say that Jedi Kush is still my all time favourite she is just so easy to work with and produces big time.
Hi mate I’m doing DWC for my next grow (first time) I’ve read loads as you do I’ve 1 1/2” rockwool cubes that I was going to soak and germinate the seeds in paper towel as I always have but you put them in wet cubes straight away I can see this being exactly the same if not better, how much water do you leave in the bottom? When you transplant to DWC what is your preferred distance between airpot and water 3/4” ? I wasn’t going to feed the first week if I did it will be 1/4 does I’ll be using GHE flora any advice appreciated.
@nelly31, Greetings. Yes it took me a while to work it out, but as you can see yourself, it's obvious that a plug like the eazyplug, supplies the perfect environment. You mention Rockwool. Let me be clear, Rockwool is not good it lacks the necessary properties for a seed. I use eazyplug, but root riot looks similar. With the eazy plug you just place it on a saucer of water until it has fully absorbed the water, takes only a minute or so, this cube now will not dry out and will not trap the seed in a pocket of water and drown it, it will remain the perfect environment. Sitting in the plug is like presoaking, but then the seed is already in place. There's a little hole in the eazyplug, just place the seed with the pointy end down (the end where the taproot emerges), which is the opposite to what I learned 40 years ago. So pointy end down. You only place it a few millimetres below the surface, you can position it nicely with a toothpick, then take a little bit of the corner of the plug and place it over the seed. The put the plug into a small bowl cover with a saucer and place somewhere with a comfortable temperature there is no water in this bowl, just what the plug soaked up, I will usually lift the lid after a day and maybe put another drop or two of water on the seed, although it's probably not necessary. Will break surface in 3 days, maybe 2 maybe 4. This can now be placed either in a hydro set up or a soil grow. The beauty of this is that when the roots start to grow in the plug the most delicate roots are in their perfect environment and are protected from shock. Check out my DIY Shallow Water Culture grow, it's best to have the roots come out of the pot into some air, or some sort of platform rather going straight into a deep reservoir.
Looking good , best of luck ... if you have any free time check out my current grow
