Growth has been vigorous. Looking at my 2019 Blackberry the first set of true leaves had 3 frond, then 7, this one started with 5 and the second set was 7. Stem is short and thick, so while the Jedi is 4" this is only 3 inches with thick leave. At day 12 I decided to take the leaves off on the third node to expose the four shoots below to light. The Jedi being more open is getting plenty of light through the plant.
I have decided to top the Jedi at the fourth node but I may which I can almost do today certainly in a day or two, but because the Blackberry is more compact and not ready to top at the third node yet, I may even let the Jedi get to the fifth node which I've never done. But this all depends on how the Blackberry goes so I'll wait and see if she reveals herself. I have plenty of light and space as I'm only growing one pot so I will draw from my previous grows, I know the Jedi is going to get very branchy.
After the first week I have started using a 1:2:1 ratio of GH flora Micro/Gro/Bloom and the ppm up to 800. I think I'll keep the GH ratio at 1:2:1 for the third week before taking it back down to 1:1:1 Micro/Gro/Bloom. I now have the ChiLed 100W light off and I have the two QB96 lights at 50W each so I can have them coming in at an angle on both sides. Reading 30k LUX at the moment. I'll gradually keep shifting the QB lights apart as the grow progresses and up the power. But at the moment 100W total seems plenty.
Just got a new camera app for my old iPhone, Camera M, and it has made it soo much easier to get good shots with the right colour balance in sharp focus.
EDIT: just after I uploaded week two I went to examine the girls and decided to top them both at the fourth node, I found I could just barely get to the Blackberry, and it looked the same for the Jedi, however the Jedi looked strange and I was worried that i may have not had enough room and damaged a new shoot, but my confusion was because I did not notice but at the fourth node, there are three leaves coming out not two so there were three shoots! I may have damaged one because I was only looking for two, but it's too small to tell at this stage, I'll have to wait a couple of days for the shoots to grow to see what I've done. Hopefully there are two undamaged shoots, and maybe even three.
@DoDrugs420, So true, thanks for viewing. I gotta say that Jedi Kush is still my all time favourite she is just so easy to work with and produces big time.
Hi mate I’m doing DWC for my next grow (first time) I’ve read loads as you do I’ve 1 1/2” rockwool cubes that I was going to soak and germinate the seeds in paper towel as I always have but you put them in wet cubes straight away I can see this being exactly the same if not better, how much water do you leave in the bottom? When you transplant to DWC what is your preferred distance between airpot and water 3/4” ? I wasn’t going to feed the first week if I did it will be 1/4 does I’ll be using GHE flora any advice appreciated.
@nelly31, Greetings. Yes it took me a while to work it out, but as you can see yourself, it's obvious that a plug like the eazyplug, supplies the perfect environment. You mention Rockwool. Let me be clear, Rockwool is not good it lacks the necessary properties for a seed. I use eazyplug, but root riot looks similar. With the eazy plug you just place it on a saucer of water until it has fully absorbed the water, takes only a minute or so, this cube now will not dry out and will not trap the seed in a pocket of water and drown it, it will remain the perfect environment. Sitting in the plug is like presoaking, but then the seed is already in place. There's a little hole in the eazyplug, just place the seed with the pointy end down (the end where the taproot emerges), which is the opposite to what I learned 40 years ago. So pointy end down. You only place it a few millimetres below the surface, you can position it nicely with a toothpick, then take a little bit of the corner of the plug and place it over the seed. The put the plug into a small bowl cover with a saucer and place somewhere with a comfortable temperature there is no water in this bowl, just what the plug soaked up, I will usually lift the lid after a day and maybe put another drop or two of water on the seed, although it's probably not necessary. Will break surface in 3 days, maybe 2 maybe 4. This can now be placed either in a hydro set up or a soil grow. The beauty of this is that when the roots start to grow in the plug the most delicate roots are in their perfect environment and are protected from shock. Check out my DIY Shallow Water Culture grow, it's best to have the roots come out of the pot into some air, or some sort of platform rather going straight into a deep reservoir.
Looking good , best of luck ... if you have any free time check out my current grow
