Like my last grow, she's in a 50/50 mix of Fox Farm's Ocean Forest & Coco Loco soils. I upgraded my light to a Kingbrite QB and am going to feed her as little chemical nutrients as possible to see if that fixes my smell issues (or lack thereof) from the last grow. I also bought an RO filter (RO Buddie 50 GPD) and am using that instead of dechlorinated tap water.
For the first four weeks, I'm just going to be giving her plain RO water. After a few, I plan on giving her some Recharge to help build some microbes in the soil, molasses to feed the microbes, and nutrients when needed or just for an extra boost. The lights ended up staying on for 24h all week until I realized this and turned them to 20/4 for week 2.
I planted her off to the side of the pot this time so I can train her around the rim of the pot. I thought LST may go a bit easier this time , but we will see.
She's getting ready for some LST. Shot up pretty quickly with nice, broad leaves. I've been hearing great things about these Night Owl seeds - so I'm so excited to get going!
Just plain RO for now still. I'm not touching pH or adding any nutrients yet. I'm thinking I'll add some Recharge next week to start building the microbes in the soil.
On 12/3, I split 1.5 gal of RO water with 1/2 tsp of Recharge between her and the other plant in the tent. I'm not sure if the massive growth on 12/8 had anything to do with it, but I'd like to think so :)
Tied her down as she started to get pretty bushy. I'm hoping that exposing some of the lower sites early will help with the training.
Now she's starting to smell like sweet, skunky candy. I'm not sure which part has helped correct the smell issues from last grow, but it seems great so far.
I added a teeny-tiny bit of nutrients just for a little kick.
Some more tying down. All she got this week was some Calmag and molasses.
She's got a nice funk to her. Not too much - the same carbon filter from last grow seems to be handling everything okay. I'm hoping the smell stays throughout the grow. I can already see trichs forming and I'm super excited for how this is going to turn out!
I noticed what i thought was a nitrogen deficiency, so I added a 1/3 strength of Big Bloom to the Rechareg and molasses feeding. Has a weak, yet sweet smell. Some of the white hairs have just started turning orange, but the plant remains super short still. I'm wondering if I should start trimming up some of buds on the lower sites to give room for the top buds to shine, but I don't want to stunt her or accidentally chop something useful. Any suggestions are always helpful.
I was still rearranging some branches to fill in the canopy, but I think I finally have her where I want her. The only LST I'll be doing now is attempting to manage canopy height.
Looking better every week!
Just giving her recharge and plain, non-pH'd RO water. I tested runoff during the last watering and it was about 6.2-6.4, so I haven't been adjusting the pH levels of the water. The smell has definitely kicked in and I'm glad to see so many bud sites forming. Since I basically have her growing horizontally from the LST, I moved some of the smaller branches into the open spaces hoping that they fill out.
I noticed that I accidentally didn't set the lights to 20/4, so I fixed that this week too.
The ladies were looking a little hungry this week, so I decided to feed them a bit. I was a bit concerned feeding them as much as I did, but since I'm writing this in the future, I'm glad I did because they are looking better today!
Gave another good feeding as she didn't fully bounce back after last week's feeding. She's looking MUCH better now. Her buds are really starting to fatten up and the smell is amazing. I was reading some articles and watching some videos which explained that terpenes can degrade at 80F temperature, so I upgraded the fans and made sure the air circulates better. The temperature rarely hits the higher temps now, so I'm hoping that this amazing smell is kept throughout the dry and cure too.
Looks like she's a few more weeks away. Could def use some more bulk, so I'm hoping that my patience will pay off
Just playing the waiting game with her. I haven't fed yet, but I'll update that info when it's done. I'll probably feed the same thing I gave her last week.
Much less yellowing in the leaves this week. I'm thinking we're about 3 weeks out or so which puts this in line with the breeders 75-80 day estimate so far. We'll see how we're doing when we get there.
