uktuk Seeds are from VancouverSeedBank (via seedsman). Took about 1 week to ship.
Nutrients are Gaia Green 4-4-4, and 2-8-4.
Pots are Vivosun 3Gallon fabric pots.
Soil is Pro-Mix HP Mycorrhizae, to which I added about 1/3Gallon of Perlite (the soil already has a ton of perlite in it), and pre-mixed 1/4 the recommended dose of 4-4-4, and 1/8 dose of the 2-8-4. (didn't want to risk hurting the seedlings, will topdress more later)
Pre-soaked the soil with 6.5ph water and placed in tent with lights on to warm up.
Germinated seeds in the wet paper towel method, 2/2 succeeded. Once I saw the taproot coming out I Placed them in my soil.
So far temps are around 75F and, humidity is around 47-50%
uktuk Had some slow growth once the initial leaves came out, which I assume was due to too low humidity (had it around 56%) bumped it up to around 66% and it seemed to progress much better.
Watered once at the beginning of the week (Jan 03) with ph'd water to 6.5, no added nutrients.
uktuk Realized the product I had bought for LST initially wasn't very good. It was only rubber with no metal inside, and was very difficult to work with. I also realized the height of my container bags was interfering with the LST as well.
When I was beginning the grow I filled them up very loosely, and after watering the soil compacted a lot more than I expected. So at the end of the week I trimmed the edges down to match the level of the soil, and picked up some proper plastic coated wire for better LST. It looks like a much better job now
uktuk Watered once 01/19/21 (Day 23) with 6.5ph water, no added nutrients yet. Kept adjusting my LST every couple of days to try and get as much surface area exposed to the light as I can (first time so having some trouble haha). One or two of the very lowest leaves look wilted and dying probably because they are underneath everything and not getting enough light.
Around day 28 plants started to show some signs of deficiencies starting, gave them their first feed of the grow on day 29.
3Tbs each of Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 per plant and watered. Actually as I'm typing this I just realized I think I forgot to ph my water -_-
Hope that won't cause issues. If I remember correctly I believe my tap water comes in around 7.4ph
uktuk I keep rotating the pots and moving the plants around so sorry if it's hard to compare the photos.
Day 34 did some very minor defoliation to some small leaves that were very far below and not getting any light. They were wilting, I'm going to try and avoid defoliation if possible on this grow.
One plant seems much more eager to grow this week than the other one. maybe just a difference in phenotypes? Everything I've done to the plants have been almost identical between them.
Quite happy with how the veg stage went with these, excited to see their progress into flowering now.
uktuk Plant is looking a lot more purple than I expected. Noticed some deficiencies in the plants later in the week, a couple helpful lads suggesting it is nitrogen toxicity. I have to guess this is due to the last feeding I did adding equal parts all-purpose and flowering stage Gaia Green. Probably too much of both and for sure too much of the all purpose. I attempted to flush the soil as much as I could today, it brought the ppm down slightly but i didn't have a lot of time to work it. Next watering I'll try and flush it a bunch more as well.
uktuk The deficiency in the leaf tips seems to have stopped or at least slowed down, don't notice much more spreading of it.
My second plant is starting to catch up in bud growth now which is cool.
I've got my humidity pretty stable now at proper levels with a humidity controller and my Air conditioner (which has a dehumidify setting)
uktuk My order arrived of some new nutrient products. Gave them some BIg bud, B-52, and Bud Candy with their watering today (Day 52).
I have Advanced Nutrients Grow/Micro/Bloom, but I'm sure the Gaia feeding I gave them will still be good for a while, will hold off on giving them that for a few weeks
Been having trouble with my humidity levels at night. My Air conditioner's Dehumidify setting isn't working properly, ordered a new 35pint dehumidifier which should arrive next week Friday.
uktuk Got a jeweler's loupe to inspect the trichomes but having a really hard time getting a steady image to tell what color they are. Some even look somewhat purple so not sure what to make of that.
Day 79 - The leaves have become quite discolored very quickly. within about a day or two they look like the Day 79 pictures. Not sure if this is from the leaves naturally about to die off at the end of their flowering cycle, or a nutrient deficiency.
The trichomes are cloudy with a small amount of amber ones thrown in here and there. I'd like to aim for more amber to try and get as much of that 'couchlock' feeling as possible, so I will at least give them another week.
I gave them a super light feeding in case it was a nutrient problem, and ph'd water. This will probably be the last watering i give them, or if I push it to 2 weeks just flushing from now.
uktuk Day 82 - One of the plants showing a handful of amber trichomes, while the other hardly has any, a couple scattered around and mostly cloudy
Day 86 - The trichomes are showing more amber and I'm fairly happy with it. Decided its time to give them the chop
I was very suprised to see both of my plants come out with very purple buds, a welcome surprise. As this was my first grow, can't really comment compared to other strains. However I hardly ran into problems with this grow and things went pretty smooth.

uktuk While I wish I had yielded more, I'm overall very happy with my first grow and am already preparing for my next. I'll try and update how it smokes after I try a sample, but might wait for it to cure a bit.
Hey ukTuk Just as a heads up you already know about 6.5 Ph basically being the neutral for cannabis growing! I also have hard water that comes out my tap. So I invested in a ph meter and regulate my water everytime I fill the jug up. Maintaining Ph is important because by it being faulty it also occasionly opens the door up to other fungus/pestilence or god knows what. Definetly want to be seeing a happy gardener @ harvest! Keep up the good work & enjoy your grow!
