My last grow was in backyard of childhood home 1991, and my, things have changed! Money is beyond tight, so absolute minimalist approach. VERY analytical, to the point of paralysis!! Following principles outlined in Mr. Cannuck's Grow: YouTube series.
Purchased Vivosun pH and TDS meters. Feel relieved that local 'water store' water is ~7.0/0ppm, even though this sht AZ water is 7+pH/400ppm!! Awaiting seeds to get this party started!
Pulled out 'mothballed' Aerogarden Ultra (2015), and drafted it for seedling duty. Originally considered growing 1 plant in the thing, but this ain't 2015!
LASTLY - this will be a perpetual grow, with new plants propagated at 4-week intervals. ! person can only 'consume' so much, right? (famous last words)
I would appreciate input from fellow growers who have ACTUAL EXPERIENCE using 3-in-1 grow tents. I'm aware of potential light management issues associated with the intermediate partition. Doesn't seem to be a very popular product category, and I cant find ANY actual grow or revie
I grow outside my grow tent. like I always put my starters under a light just to the left of the tent. So that's about the best "from experience" perspective I can give you.. Light leaks are full blown really misunderstood.. You want total darkness for Mushrooms.. For Cannabis.. having micro amounts of light during dark periods won't affect the grow.. Iv'e used cheaper tents on plenty of grows and messed around with flowering times and what makes plants flower and stress and reveg.. And there is a whole lot of bad information on the internet. Keep in mind the moon can be quite bright numerous times throughout a outdoor grow but the amount of light is what messes with the plant more then anything.. So I would assume 3 in 1 grow tents are A-OK.. Just some considerations would need to be made..
And of course, like all new growers, I was on pins and needles for the days preceding the pop.

** NOTE ** Stimulus Checks went out at the beginning of this week, and ALL major LED grow light players are OUT OF STOCK on value lighting.
I STILL need to purchase a light that puts out at least 250 PPF, then purchase an additional light to the 2x4ish closet space.
Looks like transplant into 1 gal pots has taken. Lowered the light to 6"
Ordered the Vipar Spectre XS1500 this week in order for deployment next week.
Keeping pots moist as roots expand into rich soil, but will let dry out more as nodes stack.
Lesson learned: Made mistake of mixing worm castings into entire load of substrate. Should have incorporated compost into 'lower-half' of fresh container so compost wouldn't be exposed, inviting pest problems.
Debating whether to go with full 'Earth Dust' 2-part dry amendments, or stick with the Foxfarm regimen for the duration of this grow.
Would sincerely appreciate insights from AZ-based indoor growers.
Seems like high RH is a major factor for most locations EXCEPT Arizona, aside from (non-existent) monsoon activity.
What active management techniques are you AZ farmers using to control RH during flower?
Hi, this is hard for all of us to control. Even in my Chicago basement! I have a dehumidifier running in the summer to keep me away from 70+% and a cheap reptile humidifier for the winter to get me back up to the 50s. It’s hard! Good luck. ✌️🏼❤️🌱
Has anyone mated a 6" carbon filter to a 4" inline fan? AC Infinity is OUT of 4" filters, so considering getting a 6" and adapting down to 4" intake on AC Infinity Cloudline.
Seems intuitive, since reduced intake restriction would be preferable, with increased life as a benefit.
go for it.. The only thing with larger filters is extra cost.. but you are right in that the life cycle of the Carbon would in theory be a bit longer and the filter would be less restrictive. When I was at the grow store we had some Massive size carbon filters.. And really the only thing we would recommend against is the other way around.. Ie a 4 " filter with a 6" fan would cause extra stress on the fan. Also I have an Ac Infinity and it's a boss setup.
Want to add time-lapse recording capability to my grow, given my handheld camera skills f'n suck, as evidenced by grainy images.

And with a heavy heart, I must decommission this mini-grow, as I just got a gig that is 0 tolerance. Being an old guy, I have no real choice other than to bow to the machine.
Last week before teardown, gonna love these girls as much as I can before the inevitable deed.
I cannot reconcile the fact that I'm forsaking these girls at the end of this week.
Knats have started emerging, due to being 'locally grown' worm castings. I should have ditched the sht when I saw FLYING insects milling about inside the bag.
I hope to have these girls adopted. 2/6/22: no, this was simple bio! I'm Pro now! lol
And it is done - no adoptions, so these girls have been delivered to the great greenhouse in the sky
