We're a bit behind on the updates this week.
We ended Week 3 with what we're pretty sure was a severe nitrogen deficiency, which was causing over-watering symptoms as well as lower leaf damage.
We waited too long to transplant and had expected our seedling soil mix to last a bit longer than it did. It was really only good for about 2 weeks, at most.
Once we transplanted into fresh soil, things started improving but it has cost us some progress, so we're hoping this week will provide some needed recuperation and renewed vigor to our girls. ๐ช
We're going to try to stick to a regular, light feeding schedule starting this week using our BioBizz organic nutrients and Remo's "VeloKelp".
We'll also add Cal-Mag on an occasional basis or as-needed.
Day 22:
- watered with 1ml/L of BioBuzz's "Bio-Grow" & "Acti-vera", 1ml/L of Remo Nutrients' "VeloKelp" and .5ml/L of General Hydroponics' "CaliMAGic". Solution measured approximately 350ppm, pH 6.2.
- both plants still recovering from sudden nutrient deficiency.
Day 23:
- Temp: 80F
- RH: 61%
- leaves on both plants looking very "perky" compared to just a couple days ago, praying to the lights.
Day 24:
- Topped both plants at the 4th node, removing all lower side branching.
Day 25:
- Raised the Sunblaster 6400K LED strip lights up a few inches until they were providing approximately 9,000 LUX at canopy.
- Increased light intensity of our "Elite 360" fixture until it was providing approximately 10,000 LUX at canopy.
- Total LUX levels at canopy = approximately 19,000
- watered with .5ml/L of BioBizz's "Bio-Grow" & "Acti-Vera", .5ml/L of Remo Nutrients' "VeloKelp" and .25ml/L of General Hydroponics' "CaliMAGic". Solution measured approximately 250ppm, pH 6.4.
Day 26:
- Temp: 80F
- RH: 61%
Day 27:
- Temp: 79F
- RH: 61%
Day 28:
- Not much to report by week's end. Growth is still very, very slow but at least there's some progress.
- We're not in a rush but if the slow growth continues, it's unlikely we'll continue high-stress training.
- Due to the slow growth, we will wait to water. The pots still have some weight to them today, and the plants just aren't big enough to be drinking up gallons of water yet.
@timbarin, so far we've only used it the one day, for about 2-3hrs during the warmest part of the afternoon. When the outside temps are above 10C, and with our light at 90% intensity, the tent would reach 84F, instead of the 78F that we're aiming for.
@MrHightimes, Ya, it's kind of weird because for the first few months that we had that pH meter, it needed calibration almost every week! We never knew if we could trust it... but since then, it seems to have stabilized and we haven't had to calibrate it for months. We check it with pH reference solution every few weeks and it's been spot on. We'd love to upgrade to the Blue Labs meter but it isn't necessary quite yet. The only complaint that we might have is that it takes a couple of minutes to get a true reading, whereas the TDS meter we have gives you accurate readings in just seconds.
nice grows! can you tell me how satisfied you are with the AC INFINITI T6? have you used other brands and how dos it compare? I am eyeing one now for the controls set up features, does it clear humidity? heat? and how quiet is it?
thank you for your feedback!
@Stonyways, Hi, we've been really happy with the Cloudline T6 fan. It works very well and has programmable settings. We currently have it set to turn on any time the temperature reaches 81F or any time the humidity exceeds 61%. We're glad we got the 6" version instead of the 4" version, since we can run the fan at lower speeds, which means it's very quiet. It's actually much quieter than our little oscillating fan! It's quite powerful and has no problem managing heat and humidity in our little tent. I think you could easily put this in a 4x4 or 6x6 tent and it would work just as well.
As the female half of "VanCplGrows", i don't have a lot of experience with other fans so i can't really compare it to anything but it does everything that we want and it does it well!
@timbarin, Thanks brother! We're a bit slow with our replies this week but we are happy to be back and happy to have ya following along on our latest grow. Cheers!
@Beachbudz, Absolutely! They may not be the biggest plants for 14 weeks but it's been a great learning process and we sort of prefer the leisurely schedule compared to the autoflowers we were growing before... which always seemed like a race against time, especially if you run into any problems like deficiencies or other. This has been a very comfortable grow for us. ๐
