Week 8 Our last week of veg before hopefully flipping to flower next week. We want to make sure that we've addressed any issues, like the yellowing leaves, before switching to flowering. A couple of things we're watching out for this week: - Light intensity (we want to push the light levels up a bit more) - Nutrient lockout or deficiencies - pH Levels (we will be testing our runoff next watering) As always, thanks for stopping by our journal! 🌱✌️🌱 Day 50: - no changes - both plants seem to be absorbing water well and have recovered from the LST adjustments from a couple days ago. Day 51: - we're seeing a bit more yellowing showing up in Plant #2 and a little bit in Plant #1. - the pots still have some weight to them so we'll wait another day to water. Day 52: - watered with dechlorinated tap water, with 1ml/L of BioBizz's "Fish Mix" & "Acti-Vera", 1ml/L of Remo Nutrients' "VeloKelp" and .5ml/L of General Hydroponics' "CALiMAGic". - this resulted in a 470ppm solution. We lowered the pH to 6.1 due to our previous runoff tests of pH 6.7 - 6.8. - during our last watering we added a 1 tbsp top dressing to Plant #1 of Gaia Green "Power Bloom", which is a slow-release organic fertilizer. Today we did the same to Plant #2. - our runoff tests were still showing a pH of 6.8 - 6.9, which is much higher than we'd like. Day 53: - definitely concerned about the yellowing in Plant #2. We're considering doing a foliar feeding of magnesium sulfate (epsom salt). We did just feed with Cal-Mag yesterday so we want to give that a chance to work. We'll likely wait to foliar feed until tomorrow at lights-out. - we increased the light intensity of the QB96's in our "Elite 360" fixture to approximately 55%, giving us around 22,000 - 23,000 LUX across the canopy. We raised Plant #1 up on foam blocks so that it was receiving the same light intensity as Plant #2. Day 54: - defoliation of side branches on both plants, to focus growth on the 8 'tops' of each plant. - LST adjustments to Plant #2. - foliar fed both plants at lights-out w/ .1tsp/L of epsom salt (1tsp mixed into 10L of dechlorinated water, resulted in a 370ppm solution, pH adjusted to 6.2). Day 55: - today we decided to re-pot both plants into 7 gallon fabric pots. We hadn't originally planned on doing this but since both plants seem to be suffering from either nutrient deficiency or possible lockout issues due to high pH, we figured it might help to have some fresh soil and a bit more space for the roots to spread out. We used the same Bluesky Organics "Super Soil", with a little bit of Fox Farms "Ocean Forest" soil (we didn't quite have enough "Super Soil" alone for both plants). We also added about 3/4 tbsp of Gaia Green "Power Bloom" dry amendment fertlizer and about 1tsp of "Bloom Microbes" by NPK per plant. - we removed all the tie-down's for transplanting and we decided to leave the tie-down's off of Plant #2 for a day or two, just to help minimize any additional stress and hopefully let Plant #2 grow out a bit more. Plant #1 is practically the perfect size to start flowering but we do want to wait a few days to let the plants recuperate from the transplant and hopefully to have the nutrient issues fixed. - we watered with dechlorinated tap water with only .25ml/L of General Hydroponics "CALiMAGic", resulting in a 170ppm solution, pH adjusted to 6.1. Day 56: - Plant #2 is getting worse, continuing to yellow and starting to show tiny brown spots on the leaves. It has all the signs of a continuing Magnesium deficiency, although we're starting to suspect it's more than just a deficiency... possibly caused by lockout issues. - Plant #1 is about as big as we want it to be for flowering. Any bigger and we're worried that we'll run out of head room during the flowering stretch.

@timbarin, so far we've only used it the one day, for about 2-3hrs during the warmest part of the afternoon. When the outside temps are above 10C, and with our light at 90% intensity, the tent would reach 84F, instead of the 78F that we're aiming for.

i had that ph meter and it gave me hell! if u can i'd upgrade to Blue Labs
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@MrHightimes, Ya, it's kind of weird because for the first few months that we had that pH meter, it needed calibration almost every week! We never knew if we could trust it... but since then, it seems to have stabilized and we haven't had to calibrate it for months. We check it with pH reference solution every few weeks and it's been spot on. We'd love to upgrade to the Blue Labs meter but it isn't necessary quite yet. The only complaint that we might have is that it takes a couple of minutes to get a true reading, whereas the TDS meter we have gives you accurate readings in just seconds.

nice grows! can you tell me how satisfied you are with the AC INFINITI T6? have you used other brands and how dos it compare? I am eyeing one now for the controls set up features, does it clear humidity? heat? and how quiet is it? thank you for your feedback!

@VanCplGrows, well female half, thank you for the information, I have my T6 on the way.

@Stonyways, Hi, we've been really happy with the Cloudline T6 fan. It works very well and has programmable settings. We currently have it set to turn on any time the temperature reaches 81F or any time the humidity exceeds 61%. We're glad we got the 6" version instead of the 4" version, since we can run the fan at lower speeds, which means it's very quiet. It's actually much quieter than our little oscillating fan! It's quite powerful and has no problem managing heat and humidity in our little tent. I think you could easily put this in a 4x4 or 6x6 tent and it would work just as well. As the female half of "VanCplGrows", i don't have a lot of experience with other fans so i can't really compare it to anything but it does everything that we want and it does it well!

@Beachbudz, Absolutely! They may not be the biggest plants for 14 weeks but it's been a great learning process and we sort of prefer the leisurely schedule compared to the autoflowers we were growing before... which always seemed like a race against time, especially if you run into any problems like deficiencies or other. This has been a very comfortable grow for us. 👍
