And they’re off! Very happy about the 100% germination rate to start off the grow. I'm going to focus this grow on topping. From what I've read, topping is mostly done on sativa grows. The reason to top/fim/super top is because sativas are usually quite taller and this can greatly help with indoor grows. This will also help in my grow, even though the plants are all heavy Indica. My grow tent is only 60" tall and the previous/initial grow found myself needing to reactively adjust the above LED lighting as the plants stretched out in flowering stage. Live & Learn!
I'm also using more nutes this grow. On my initial grow I wanted to keep things simple so as to minimize possible disaster(s).
I wish there were more options for nutrients out there, there are so few to choose from! 😂
Trying not to overwater the seedlings, and finally the first true leaves have appeared (about Day 6).
Waiting for a small a/c to arrive, I will eventually need it to get the “daytime” temp down to 70 as the WiFi grow up.
Notes:
So far the watering has only included super thrive for nutes.
First round of topping complete! Also installed the new A/C unit to bring down the daytime temp, as WiFi likes cooler temps.
Overall they all look really healthy, going full veg nutes since Day 14.
Weekly Notes:
Fast recovery from the topping, so far everything looks great!
(The GDP referenced in pics are the two additional Grand Daddy Purps that are keeping the 2 WiFi company)
The plants are starting to get bushy, and all look healthy. They're a bit thirstier than my previous BBK grow, watering every other day (based on the one-knuckle soil moisture test).
Not sure if I'll top one more time or just start bending, either way I can see keeping them longer in Veg stage for at least another 2 weeks. No rush. This will also allow the 2 other roommates (Green Work Collective Rainbow Trip) to veg out longer as they were added in the corner about a week behind the WiFi.
So many strains, so little time!
Weekly Notes:
Began LST on WiFi Day 26
The plants are all at the same approx height, so the topping & LST seems to have worked out fine. It’s cool how they immediately respond to the bending and go vertical, I expected it to take a few days.
It’s clear that this will also help in getting light to spread evenly on the canopy. Days away now from going to the 12/12 light cycle, I’m already starting to see some hairs, and early signs of flowering.
Tempted to perhaps top/fim again? Thoughts & comments are welcome!
They’re starting to stretch now, everything still looks great & all the plants are thick and healthy.
Trying out some Roots Organics brand, Uprising Bloom for the beginning flowering stage along with the Super Thrive. The WiFi evidently like a bit more magnesium.
Very happy about the even canopy, won’t need to SCROG them.
The girls are really stretching now. Great tip on raising the lights way up high at the very beginning of flowering, I am lowering it a bit now so they don’t stretch too much though.
This will be last feeding of the Uprising Bloom, I will start using a more intense bloom soon, probably Mammoth unless given some other suggestions.
Flowering has really kicked into high gear now around Day 50.
They are finally slowing down a bit, but still grew 6” or so this past week. All the plants looks really thick & healthy, they are getting bushy, so I might do a first wave fan leaf trim this coming week.
So many flowers from topping/FIM, what an easy and great technique to get better results with such little effort!
Will also start adding an additional flowering nute soon. I've also been rotating the plants every week as there is obvious best lighting spots where growth is a bit better. They are all in the same tray so it's easy enough.
Pulled out one of the two Rainbow Trips, it was showing the male cone. Thankfully the other one is a female, these are supposed to taste like candy.
Notes:
Started Mammoth on Day 60 (Wow that microbe brew reeks!)
Full on flowering, all the plants looking great. Humidity has been up a bit this past week due to all the rain, so I have the dehumidifier cranked up.
Temp also up a bit, but the WiFi really like things around 85F. Scaled the microbes down after first application.
The Rainbow really shot up this week and is the tallest plant now, the flowers are still a week or so behind though.
Plant heights have slowed & pretty much stopped, but the flowers are getting really big and thick. You can see the sugar spreading out very clearly now :D
I will be doing another round of fan leaf trimming to help get more light down to the mid flowers.
I'm guessing about another 2-3 weeks until harvest, I'll be more accurate this time thanks to having the 40x loupe to check on the trichome coloring.
Some nice looking buds forming, getting all tight & bundled. The hairs are starting to turn but are mostly white on the WIFi. Tri’s are still mostly clear, but starting to get milky. Incredible amount of sugar at this point compared to previous grows.
Still no color changes on the Grand Daddy Purps. I really want to see the purple! Hairs are 50-50 red now.
The Rainbow is still flowering and is the tallest, it shot up fast to the top LED. Smaller flowers too.
This train was fairly easy to grow, the plants bounced back strong from being topped and handled the high humidity that they prefer pretty well.
The amazing amount of trichomes was amazing and fun to watch, like a snowstorm where the snow gradually builds up.
I am hoping the THC level lives up to the reputation, I will give an update once I can get a first-hand experience.
This was a fairly easy grill except for having to battle humidity which caused me to harvest a little earlier than I would’ve liked to.
I will update the taste and aroma in a week or so after the birds have cured a bit.
Initial smell is very sweet and earthy.
@DrDrood, You'r right , I get mine from spain mostly. I ask you that because your description says it's a custom strain. It's the first time I hear about that WIFI OG but after a few search I found some docs. Good luck with it, will follow that grow
@OutForReal, I wish that I had a local store! There are many trusted & reliable places to get fem seeds, mine were shipped from the Netherlands (ILGM) which also includes many great grow guides.
Great start , they look like mine .
I found myself in a guessing game with the lights and the fact I had random seeds from 25 diffrent strains , I only get the best of the best so the few seeds I get mostly pop female , almost all of them , kind of odd almost like there female seeds coming off these caregivers here in new England and I couldn't find a average spot for all the hybrids , sativa and indica plants I was growing a variety, they way you topped and focused on the topping will get you short thick fat bottom girls that make the world go round.
That's the way to prevent stretchy bad tops at the wrong time and place. After they get half a foot I jack the
Light way up so they search tall for it , hit my secret ingredients about week 4 or 5 of veggie and watch the magic happen on the stretch, your plants are looking good. , if you want a nutirents that you can combo any brand with that will help you in veggie grow stage , about week 5 or 6 use CYCO platinum series XXL bottle of CYCO XL. It's like 40 bucks but ,an you only use it one time like .5 to 1.5 ml per gallon and mix it first before others stuff to prevent lockout . It will strip the hard heavy nitrogen roots and make them angel soft white Santa cluse beard hairs again. Don't use two weeks in a row , they grow too big. Kiss all the close light training for short fat growth goodbye , it stretches on its own not even looking for light , if there thick too the stretch alot , I too think they stretch looking like werid branch thin main stems. And fall over. It's steroids for plants.
@Wifi_OG, It was freakin me out trimming because of certain concentrations of the tri’s looked like white mold. I broke up that bud and posted (last pic) once broken up there was nothing.
Plant has a sativa build with most phenos not having much height growth tendencies, leaves are short board himilyian with the afghan kush texture. very nice! :o)))))
