AlpineGoat This year is starting off with a bang! As a New Year's resolution, I've decided to get my hands on an old box I have at home (it used to be a base for an aquarium). Now it's going to be something entirely different >:D After doing some good research and gathering seeds, testing them, and putting them to the test, I've finally convinced myself to make this blessed veg box. The other box was 80x80x160, perfect for flowering. This one is 60x100x80, a slimmer and laid-out box, allowing me to divide the space to keep a mother and clones at the same time :) For now, I'm hosting some plants from a friend, plants that were supposed to have a home in a comfy 120x120 but are now all packed like sardines at my place for the next few weeks. I'm taking care of them: making sure they sprout well (check out the girl scout cookies and the runtz in the greenhouse), transplanting when necessary, and looking after my personal girls, the banana sherbet and the critical 707. A little curiosity: when he brought me the seedlings, they were all 1 week old, some just germinated, and I noticed that the bruce banner 3 produced a twin! Two sprouts from one seed! I managed to separate them successfully and I'll keep the unfortunate twin to try to bring it back to strength. At the moment, there are 10 plants in total: 5 autoflowering (all from my friend) and 5(+1) feminized (3 mine, 2 from my friend, and 1 in the germination phase). I'd like to try cloning Monster Skittlez since it has some particularly strange and curled leaves (in English, it's called "webbed" if I'm not mistaken)... I'll investigate! Greetings to everyone from the goat Alpine Goat

AlpineGoat After finally setting up the basics of this veg box, it's time to think about the plants! Yes, it's true, there are some improvements I could make, like tidying up the cables, laying down mylar to reflect the light, but honestly, I want to keep this project low-budget. The important thing was to find the space to not mix veg/bloom; now that I have this mini box, I'm super happy :D :D :D I transplanted some seedlings that were in a pitiful state. I wanted to fix the soil for all of them to give them the opportunity to start off right! For the autos, I used organic fertilizers from Green House, two powders to mix with the soil and an additive to give them every 2 weeks... nothing easier. For the feminized ones, I wanted to use only the light mix from Biobizz, since I have a 50L bag at home, I have to use it to grow bigger plants >:D I just gave a first round of Hesi fertilizer, I should see the results by the weekend, I'll keep you updated... A couple of words about the plants in the box. We have 5 autos: all from my friend, they are survivor plants from the ones I gave him for Christmas (already tested by me in previous cycles), which I hope to return to him as soon as possible because I want to transplant the banana sherbet into a bigger pot and I need the space I'll get by removing the greenhouse and 5 pots of about 2L each... The other five (+1 that’s in the greenhouse and I hope it comes out because it’s an interesting strain, the runtz..) are actually 4 different strains, one of which has a twin. The two that I didn't put in the diary (the banana sherbet and the critical 707) are being monitored in another diary, the "2021 variety" - take a look! The banana sherbet is almost 3 weeks old and is very big; it needs a transplant as soon as possible! The critical 707, on the other hand, was born to replace a missing CBD at the beginning of the year; it still has a long way to go... The other two are from my friend, and both show some really interesting traits. The bruce banner 3 has produced 2 sprouts from 1 seed (3-2-1!) and I managed to separate them successfully! I'll keep the weaker of the two to try to help it ;) The monster skittlez, on the other hand, has some really interesting leaves, but since it's my friend's, I'll try to make one or two clones to keep the genetics and see if the trait amplifies and how. In the meantime, let's let nature take its course and observe... meanwhile, there are many other flowering plants that need more attention! A greeting from the goat Alpine Goat

AlpineGoat Aaaah what an ABSURD week. Obviously, this is all a work in progress, you never stop improving.. Now I had to replace the Chinese light that broke after 3-4 days, making me curse the day I decided to go low budget >:S Then I turned off the fan, which was blowing in (yeah, because reversing the poles doesn't work) cold air, and replaced it with a small heater that keeps the temperature constant above 20°C. Before that, I had a constant 16-15°C all day, the soil never dried out properly, and the girls had trouble photosynthesizing, probably due to the poor quality of the Chinese LEDs :( Let's start with a brief recap: The runtz auto is gone. It probably drowned :( My friend's three autos have entered flowering due to the stress of these days! Damn, I don't think I'll even get a bonsai out of it :/ The girl scout cookies auto has sprouted in the little greenhouse! How nice, I'm so happy! I had to give it a support stick to keep it upright, but little by little it will grow.. My plants in veg, the banana sherbet and the critical 707, you can find them in their diary - unfortunately, they've had a growth halt due to various cold and light issues.. The two twin Bruce Banners are doing well, they look like plants ready to grow gigantic! It's likely that I'll give one of them to a friend who will then return some clones to me in the future! The monster skittlez is doing great, a plant that will bring excellent satisfaction! It seems a bit deficient in something, but I'll give it another week before I start thinking about changing the lighting or fertilizers.. My friend should be moving into a house at the beginning of the month, I hope he can settle in within the first few weeks so he can have time to grow a few more internodes before topping and making clones for me and my buddies :))

Grow Questions

AlpineGoatstarted grow question 6y ago
I don't know if this is the right light. I'm gonna leave it for a week but if I don't see any kind of growth I'm gonna replace it with some good light. But since it's a wooden box I don't want to put a big light, maybe some stripe or bars, any low-budget suggestion is appreciated

Ah, cool. IS are good, I can only whole heartedly recommend the things I have used, or seen to bring good results. But 'buy cheap buy twice' usually. I'd just recommend goin with invisible sun, migro or vividled. No point buyin mars, may as well pay a bit extra for quality. You could get 2 x 100w IS boards for this cabinet, dimmable and they're full grow lights (start to finish) incase you ever wanna use em in flower too. Not much more I can add mate, hope you find something that suits ya needs. https://invisiblesunled.co.uk/collections/invisible-sun-efficacy-range/products/ish100-br-horticultural-lighting-system-powered-by-samsung-led 2 of these or https://invisiblesunled.co.uk/collections/invisible-sun-efficacy-range/products/ish165-horticultural-lighting-system-powered-by-samsung-led 1 of these

AlpineGoat Long period short story here. This box is still-in-progress. A lot of plants didn’t survive the stress or haven’t enough light to grow. Only the strongest survived! I got 2x Bruce Banner 3.0, 1x Critical 707, 1x Monster Zkittlez, 4x AmnesiaOG clones and 1 auto in the minipot ready to replace the other girls missing during the last phase. I decided to sacrifice some girls to make room for the others. At the moment I’m not in a rush since my bloom box is well planned for the next month, the veg box now is keeping them alive but without pushing the grow..actually it’s slowing them. Today I bought a 60W Led for this box, veg spectrum only! I hope it arrives this week, I need to add this last thing and now it’s perfect :D I even asked to an electrician friend to help me organize the wires ;)

AlpineGoat I finally decided to change my light! After weeks of failures, dead plants, wet pots that won't dry out, I finally bought a veg lamp! I was fixated on the idea of getting a bar light, but I found the perfect solution: lightweight, not too big, low consumption (60W), and the spectrum is perfect for vegetative growth! After this little upgrade, I treated myself to some saucers so that the drainage doesn't end up on the wood underneath.. I used the piece of wood I had set aside as a support for the humidifier, the spray, and the water bottle. The clones, after two or three days under the lamp, have sprouted roots, so I transplanted them while waiting for them to be adopted :) In the meantime, there have been other developments! My friend decided to leave me what’s left (the monster skittle and the bruce banner) if I provide him with clones in the future to start growing once he gets settled! Since I lost my banana sherbet :’( I had to replant it! In the greenhouse, I found the top of the bruce banner that I'm trying to clone and a rock machine seed that is about to germinate!

AlpineGoat This week I added the extractor, but being at the bottom wasn't a great idea because it's pulling in cold air instead of warm. For now, I have it turned off since the plants don't need too much air exchange as they're still small. In the meantime, the Amnesia clones have disappeared! I gave them to a friend who just started growing, along with some other seeds, and soon I'll also give him these two Bruce Banner clones ;) Meanwhile, I received a nice gift from @TheHighNews, two Amnesia OG x Tropical Fuel seeds that accidentally came out of his growbox! High probability of hermaphroditism, but I want to try making a bonsai or two... The rest of the plants are doing very well! The Bruce Banner 3.0 is now a mom, having made three little clones! The Bruce Banner 3.2, on the other hand, has recovered, and I decided to go for FIM, hoping for a strong comeback! The Critical 707 is doing great; I want to bring it to flowering in the next cycle without cloning it, doing a proper LST! The Banana Sherbet is growing slowly; its leaves are a bit ugly, but nothing particularly alarming... The Monster Skittlez, however, is giving me great satisfaction after the topping a few days ago ;)

AlpineGoat I missed last week update.. sorry I was very busy at work! The lst working very well! The bruce Banner really exploded and now is looking like a SoG :D I’m planning to do the same with the monster skittlez ;) The banana sherbet is growing slowly, but healthy as fuck! I see the critical 707 is really ready to be transplanted into another pot, where i can accomodate better the lst.. In the nursery i got a few surprise for the full moon! I popped a few seeds lets see if they all came to life.. -update everything popped!

AlpineGoat This hesi nutrients really improves my grow! They’re going really fast since I change to minerals.. Now that the box is full I got the list: -1x BruceBanner3 and MonsterZkittlez from both tied in a double mainline (the next in the bloom calender) I consider them the “adult” of the box -1x BananaSherbet from SouthSeeds (a few weeks old, maybe three), where I performed some HST, bending the last two internodes at 90º -4x bagseeds in one pot, all collected and germinated just for fun (i put the pic in the other diary) -1x AmnesiaOG X Tropical Fuel the criss/cross from @thehighnews with strange leafs -1x GranolaFunk X BlackTop from sunleafseed, showing some nice leafs already after only two weeks -2x PineappleSkunk X Zilky Zmooth from midnight_coverrrr -2x Limetta Marmelade X BlackBerry OG / RoyalKush VII and also 2x PlatinumHuckleberryCookies / NorthernLights#1 X GMO Fuel F2 from the best guardianofthelostterps, alaskan cross ;)

@AlpineGoat, Firstly let me apologise for not realising that you were a goat. (I love Goats) Secondly let me say, I'm glad you didn't say plumber because I've seen them "films" and I know how they end........ ...... I know the middle bit of the films anyway, nobody gets to the end ✌️✌️

I have no idea how the plants are not deprived if only getting 10w lighting must be a decent led, I personally would upgrade the light even though they do not look like they are suffering from sunlack they definitely will be jn the next few weeks assuming that all tje plants have been in box for two weeks and they look that healthy id consider maybe a 50w overhead and get another strip to do around the sides or maybe a 60w above and tinfoil the sides but that will crank heat with all the reflecting again, genuinely suprised 10w is all you got and seedlings look that good at this stage i had a 80w cfl that was having troubles during same stage had to upgrade to a 125. Speaking of cfls are also an option at your disposal biggest issue with them is light penetration and distance to plants but with such a small box id say that would be a minor drawback, you can also use string light flourescents to minimize light pen issues hope that some of this rambling helped cheers have a good grow!!

@Mackorodoo, thanks for your help! When I was building it I was in a rush and didn’t paid too much for all (less than 80€) but i think is better add some veg light from amazon. I want to keep the setup like this btw, strips are perfect. Tomorrow i’m gonna contact a friend who can help me with the electric side, maybe he can suggest some light

@AlpineGoat, https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-supplies-get-started-growing#coco-coir-cfls Above is a link to a guide about growing with cfls, though i dont recomend cfls the way some of these people have set up light might be useful to know like the guy who has suspended string lights around each plant may help to do someth Similar with led strips if thats how you intend to grow these cheers happy growing
