Germination Week. Will check twice a day until all roots are popped. Used damp paper towel method in a Tupperware bowl w/lid. Keep in a dark warm area.
Week 1 started with all germinated seeds (100%) planted in Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil. All plants sprouted successfully except for 2. Using garden epsom salts in water mixture can provide an extra source of magnesium and sulfur which is important for healthy plant growth. Fox Farm big grow is used in small doses usually 25% of recommended amount per gallon for seedlings to start and will increase 25% each week until flowering cycle begins. Water is from the tap dechlorinated using the evaporation method also supplied with an oxygen pump to prevent stagnant water.
Week 2 of veg. stage preparing for a transplant come week 3 into new pots. Will begin topping after recovery following LST shortly after. ScrOG method is also preferred.
During week 3 all plants have been transplanted into their final pots. After a few days of recovery all plants were also topped. After about two more days new plant growth is seen. The 24 hour light schedule has changed to 18/6 for about 5 more weeks until flowering period. Nutrient dosage has slightly increased and will do so as needed.
In the fourth week plant growth has accelerated since transplanting in final pots. Each one has been previously topped and maintained steady healthy growth. Low stress training will begin this week using fishing line to tie down branches where they can get the best light exposer. Plants will be allowed growth for the next two weeks before clones are cut. A week after cuttings are done and the plants have recovered, flowering will be initiated.
In week 5 lots was done to improve each plant. Each one was topped for their second time and each branch was tied down for LST. Plants are beginning to take bush form and all leaves remain healthy and green. Next week will involve new plant growth preparing each plant for clone cuttings the following week.
Week 6 was very eventful in the grow room. Each plant was topped a second time last week with this week having plant growth occur quickly. Low Stress training is going well. Plants were also defoliated towards the bottom where no light is exposed. Clones were cut from each and labeled respectively. Next week begins week 1 of flowering cycle. Happy Growing!
Week 7 is Week 1 of flower cycle. Clones were cut last week and rooted with a 90% success rate. Super cropping was done in several areas of each plant and recovered over the week. A layer of trellis was placed across the canopy and branches were weaved. In the following week during stretch period another layer or two of trellis will be added as needed.
Week 8 had lots of defoliation and trellis netting going on during stretch period. Will defoliate one last time around week 5-6 of flowering and then its just watering from there.
The 3rd week was a big one all plants finished stretch period and it was becoming a little wild for a second. I moved 4 of the bigger girls into their own room with their own 1000w LED plus a shared 250w HPS in the center. I will be tying down branches to get flat canopy then each of the 4 will be pushed more towards the center for better light coverage do not mind the setup its not fully there but will be finished before the end of the week. In the main grow room there is a single 1000w HPS cool tube running at 100%. To remove the 4 bigger plants I had to cut the entire trellis off the canopy but will be placing a new layer this week as well. As for nutrients feedings well clearly from the size of these girls you can tell they have been eating. In about 2 weeks I will defoliate one last time and then its them vs. the world til havest. Happy Growing!
In the fourth week of flowering cycle buds have begun to take shape and form trichomes. Nothing much happened other than normal watering and feeding plants.
In week 5 of flower cycle buds have begun to fatten and take on a stronger scent. About half of the plants have also taken on a partial purple color. Feeding will continue into week 6 and then the flush cycle will begin.
In week 6 of flower cycle buds have continued to fatten day for day and built a strong odor. Phenotypes vary widely some short and some tall, some purple and some green, some trichome production greater than others. Dying leaves have been pruned and their last feeding occurred Friday. We are now in the last two weeks where flushing will take place and PPM of runoff will be measured targeting the 0-400 range. Harvest is coming soon, happy growing!!!
This week was a very easy one all that was involved was flushing. Flushing two separate times throughout the week involved tap water which was allowed to sit for 24 hours with air stones. Tap water was used first because the PPM of tap water is higher than RO water. Doing this avoids instant deprivation of food for plants, rather than cold turkeying them. As the last week arrives tap water will be replaced by RO water equating to 400PPM or less and given in abundance until PPM meter reads runoff at about the same 400PPM or less.
Focus for the week was mainly on flushing the plants to below 400ppm. All hairs were about 50/50 orange and white by the last few days and trichomes changed from clear to milky. One of the most obvious signs of a good flush and mature plant are yellowing of the leaves. Along side that ppm of runoff water from the pots can be measured after watering to see how much nutrient and salts are left in the soil.
Pink Cookies is definitely more of a night time strain to be comsumed before dinner or bed. Hungry and tired are the two biggest symptoms of this strain. Pink Cookies has a very fruity taste but not a bad one, it blends perfect with the smoke unlike some old-school strains which can be a little on the harsh side. Throughout many different personal experiences with fruity flavored cannabis the "fruity" smell is misleading as the taste is not present. Pink cookies surprised me with that, the taste actually matches the smell. Very resinous strain especially if a 48 hour dark period is applied before harvest.
Overall this was one of the more challenging grows due to upkeep. On the other side it was also one of the best grows due to constant trial and error. Practice really does make perfect with that being said the next grow should be flawless. The biggest issue with this strain were the hermaphrodite genetics present in a few plants. Surprisingly there were no seeds found anywhere, yet about 4-5 plants were covered in stamens.
Hello there! Those pink cookies are looking good and very frosty, lovely pink shade in pic 2, but sadly I spotted some male flowers in pic 2, top of buds 4 flowers, you should carefully remove...
You are going to find seeds on this one, keep them! But do not keep the other plant seeds if you find
Often feminised seeds will start making male flowers for survival! They are so eager to reproduce!
@BostonGreenParty, wow that is a brave move! I am forced to grow in a small space, I could not attempt this, but if I could I surely would lol
Find a beautiful bud in the jungle is a keeper in my book, as long they are not peppered with male flowers!
Anyways Awesome grow and thank you for sharing it with us! let's see what comes from this beautiful lady boy!
@Eauderay, Yes there are actually 3 hermies that were found in the jungle lol they were given a chance at life in hopes to cross with other strains that are also in the flowering process. I also left them because of their phenos, I understand breeding with a hermie probably isnt a good idea to begin with if im looking for stable genetics but I figured might as well play around with it and see what happens. I have 3 purely feminized plants, a single of each gorilla candy, fire OG, and candyland i surrounded that hermie pink cookies with. The other two hermies were placed in another room away from the rest of jungle!
Super duper grow! ++
And with leds! Which leds are you using? How much power does it eat? I just bough a 120w led from Voos and I am so amazed how much light it gives at the lowest setting, i have seen many diaries with bleached leds leaves, but you have cracked it! Well done
@BostonGreenParty thanks for response, that is a lot of light+! Mixing hps and leds is a good idea especially in cold places, the warmth they give is so close to the sun.
Anyway keep on growing that fire!
@Eauderay, If you're having trouble with bleaching try pulling the lights a little higher/ further away from canopy that should do the trick! My 1000w Giixer LEDs are on the cheap end and only give off 250 actual watts each, I have 4 of them, plus I also use a smaller 250w HPS hooded and a 1000w HPS cool tube. Total wattage for my entire grow runs about 2250 actual watts. Happy growing!!
