I honestly struggle to get this batch of seedlings to grow. There's a growth delay seemingly every single time even in optimal conditions. I top feed very lightly with low nutrient pH'd water throughout this period.
Still showing slow growth. I grew 2 of these plants (other one not pictured) and it grew with a weird phenotype and I had to cull it because there was clearly something wrong with it. This plant finally starts to take off after this but it definitely had a slower start than a photo or even the gorilla girl auto XL from the same breeder (one of my other diaries).
Roots are finally down. Even with top feeding this plant has been slow but it's starting to pick up. Wish I knew why there was such a delay with these autoflowering strains.. Always makes me nervous.
Plant is finally growing but still showing some weird growth stuff including some rust spots on lower leaves. Seem to get this all the time in DWC regardless and I still can't figure it out!
Well, I gave them 'transition' nutrients. I started just following the GH recommended feeding schedule for hydro "drain-to-waste". The plants seem to like it and it seems more defined. I have followed community GH Trio guides up til now but thought I should give the manufacturer's a chance. Flowers are starting to turn purple! I did not top or do any kind of LST. I just supercropped the main cola over to the left by bending at a 90 degree angle. It works!
Changed to early flowering nutrients as per GH recommendations. It's hard to gauge when to transition between the different components of Trio because the plant is doing its own thing and deciding when to flower... do you skip transitioning and go straight to flowering nutrients with autos? The first picture day 44! Well, we've finally got the purple colours coming in very strongly! Even the fan leaves are turning purple. The progression of the pigment looks like a pathogen has taken over but it's just the cool genetics of this plant. Smell is increasing, they have a very sweet odor so far when crushing the flowers. Still nowhere near harvest but the buds and calyxes are starting to stack. Very exciting that I got this one to grow!
Hey everyone, I changed my nutrient system away from just using Calimagic+Trio to including all of the bells and whistles. I am already seeing improvements in my plants! The smell is now incredible, it's getting stickier by the day. I suggest for this strain to use the expert schedule from GH FloraSeries feeding chart. Expecting a nice harvest. Day 56 picture is one of my favorite I've ever taken!
Here are the comments. Continuing on with the sexy ultra awesome General Hydroponics EXPERT LEVEL NUTRIENTS which are making the trichomes and the smell go insane! Can I prove it's the new nutrient? Not at all because this isn't a rigorously conducted scientific experiment but anecdotally, it's making a difference. I have two new white widows that are growing using the expert schedule and they are the healthiest plants I have ever grown. Too bad I didn't start this autoflower with the full nutrients from the beginning.
I've never had a prettier plant though, good genetics from Sweet Seeds.
New week but still no amber trichomes. I am likely going to go to the dry koolbloom for a week after this and then flush for a week or so. The trichomes are definitely white and milky but I don't want to cut early and miss out on packing on some weight. The aroma of this cannabis is so nice, it's musky and sweet. Can't wait to cure and smoke it!
Hey all! Thanks for sticking with me. I am now in the "ripening" stage and I have changed the nutrient regiment accordingly. Nutrients are greatly reduced during this period. I added dry koolbloom instead of liquid koolbloom this time. Seemed good but it definitely changed the acidity of my nutrient solution. It took 2-3x as much pH up to get to 6.2!
Plant is getting heavy, branches are falling over and I've started having to use Yo-Yo's to hold up the main cola which was super cropped early on. It still ended up being one of the biggest colas even tho it's below the 'new' main colas. Loving this plant and I am so excited to smoke her!
Flush week! I did not purchase any kind of 'flushing' nutrient mixture (like FloraKleen), opting instead to make my own 50 ppm solution out of tap water diluted 1:10 with distilled water. Since I removed the beneficials, I added UC roots to make sure it didn't get infected in its last week. Buds are dense, leaves are changing color and the smell is excellent. Stoked for the chop at the end of this week. Still not really much amber trichomes but I prefer it that way anyways!
This has been my favorite grow yet. I absolutely LOVE the purple genetics. It is so much more interesting to watch than regular old cannabis! I would constantly find myself in the tent just staring and inhaling this beautiful plant. It's been so hard waiting for this batch to finish. I have already smoked some and it's curing now. It's the best tasting cannabis I've ever grown! Smooth to smoke, no harshness at all. I still need to work on trimming off the bottom buds earlier on in the flowering stage but I still got about 5 oz of quality bud and 1.5 oz of larf. The larf is still super potent and beautiful. I would totally grow this strain again!
