Going to try a 12/12 from seed run to hopefully give my vegging girls adequate time to become mothers. Heard stellar things about the original BanDad Photo so I decided to cop both. I'm going to be running BanDad Auto and photo side-by-side 12/12 from seed to witness the differences in trich production, size, etc. This should be an interesting one. I also strayed away from the paper towel method for germ this time. I believe that as long as the genetics are up for the job, in soil/substrate is 100% viable.
Meanwhile, I'm going to be trying to mother a Banana Daddy Photo and an Early Lemon Berry photo.
And off we go! A whole lot of new starts in both of my tents, excited for the year to come! Also got a nice sample of lab grade organic nutes that I may or may not test out on these girls. Haven't decided yet. It contains alot of the same ingredients that I already use from Cali Green's formula. No nutes on week 1 veg ofc. Plain water pHed down to 6.8.
Cheers all and stay safe out there! 🙌😷
Not much to say other than the tent is completely cleared out aside from them. They're getting 100% of my attention from here on out. Decided I'm likely going to try these new lab-based nutrients I got for free. Makes up to 40 gallons and it's all organic so it should work beautifully throughout the entire grow.
Cheers all! Loving the progress thus far :)
All three are performing exquisitely. Started them on light doses of nutes this week. I'll be upping the amount each week until flower. Super stoked with their day to day progress! Seems like they're growing so much, so fast! Ethos truly never fails
Cheers all, and happy growing 😊
Okay, so I decided to hard top one of the BanDads at the end of week 3 veg, because I thought this grow would be a great way to test the resilience of it. I also wanted to see if it would be more squat than the others in doing so. It seems like she took a 3 day recovery period and then picked right back up from where she left off! Very curious to see how offset she is from the others.
I've upped the feeding dosage to the maximum amount I plan to use. They are all responding amazingly so far! Excited for flower in the next few weeks here!
Cheers everyone, stay safe and stay blessed😷🙌
Pre-flowers are popping up on all of these girls, which means the stretch should begin relatively soon. I don't think any of my plants have looked this healthy, honestly so excited to see what the roots to all these girls are going to look like. I bet they're going to be massive :). Feeding from the bottom is working great.
You may also notice I planted clover and it's just now popping up everywhere.
Cheers to a productive stretch and flower 🌹 🙌
Don't mind the additional plants, they'll be joining along but won't be a focus in this journal. By this point, all of the plants are really upping their drinking frequency. I can tell by next week, I'll be watering every day. Seriously loving this pairing of nutrients together.
A huge note to make though, is little pistils are popping up everywhere now! It'll be two weeks - max - before we are in flower! The health of all of these girls really makes the transition, that much more exciting! Got 4 really similar plants and 2 uniques to fill in the gap. My headcanon is treating all of these Ethos plants as rare items - like in a videogame 😂. Given how expensive these genetics are, it's kind of true lmao.
One relevant footnote I wanted to make was that the Banana Dad Photo seems to have far thicker fan leaves than the autoflower counterparts at this stage. You can see it quite prevalently in the overview photo for the week. Tucking the autos has been very painless, and an emergency defol.(to get light where it needs to be) doesn't seem to bring any drawbacks. The photo seems to be recovering still from removing one of the main fan leaves about a week ago. Visually, she seems a bit behind the Banana Dad auto I refer to as BR, just with larger fan leaves.
Either way, I'm sure they'll stretch a decent amount within the next two weeks. I also raised the light up a bit more, to hopefully encourage just a bit more vertical growth during the trans. stretch.
Day 44 from seed update: All of the girls look great! As a matter of fact, there are actual buds now! And it may be hard to see, but there's a slight blue-ish hue appearing on the older fan leaves - A similar thing happened to my Early Lemon Berry just before she went completely purple/magenta. I'm also welcomed to a sweet grape scent now every time I open the tent, really pleasant. Things are going quite smooth during transition, within the next two weeks, I'll be removing XSD from the schedule(recommended according to Labmor). Then it will just be BSM and Liquid Seaweed until it's time to give em' the chop!
Cheers all! Excited for what's to come. Stay safe & blessed!😄😷🙌
And the first week of flower begins!
I started this week off by defoliating any and all large fan leaves blocking lower nodes. Also did a little supercropping on BL to get her to spread just a bit more. I raised the light up to 45cm and this will be the final height.
They've been drinking really fast by this point. Definitely going to be very diligent with waterings/feedings until harvest.
Cheers all! This is my most painless grow to date, praying for a nice and smooth wrap-up to this cycle as well.
Loving this new camera quality! Really brings out the green shine. Anyways they've all been loving the feeding regimen. Two feedings a week with 2 molasses feedings in between seems to do the trick at this stage.
Also wanted to mention the height is in reference to the tallest of the three BanDad's. Which is the one I topped surprisingly. For future reference, anybody following a similar formula to my grow will definitely want to top just once around week 2/3. She didn't even take a recovery period, really. Just chugged right back through, 3 days after. Now she dwarfs the other two BanDads quite immensely. Definitely been destroying my initial notion of not topping autos with this one.
Cheers everyone!
I've been having a blight of what appeared to be powdery mildew, popping up on all the leaves of my plants. To combat it, I've been spraying the leaves with neem oil. Come to find out, it's some kind of residue from my spray bottle... of course lmao. So I just wipe the leaves off with a little saliva and now it seems to have stopped spreading. However, the top+defol. BanDad's leaves look a little hurt. I don't think it'll hinder flower development in any way, though.
All-around having an awesome time with these plants.
So powdery mildew has been popping up everywhere, and this late in flower.. it's been stressing me out quite a bit. Not going to use neem oil, but I have been spraying the leaves at night with dish soap water. Hopefully this treatment works. Other than the leaves looking hurt because of that, the buds smell and look amazing 👏😍 and that's what counts. Didn't have time to organize the diary update properly, so o well. But I did take plenty of pics.
Hmmm... it's been getting really hot as of late. I'm honestly debating chopping these girls early. Already did with one to rotate in my Blueberry girl. But I may just off the the other two and call it. They all smell really strong and are 'relatively' healthy, it's just that I'm worried that having them stay in this ever-increasing heat will lead to trich degradation or other unfavorable side-effects this late in flower. On top of that it'll feel better for me to peak in the tent with a little open space, so that I can visualize how I want to train the next plant to rotate in.
Only molasses and Liquid Seaweed being fed to them currently. The last two weeks (if we make it that far) will have overdrive included as well. It all just depends on how this California weather decides to behave. Just going to remain diligent on the weather forecast and make my decision from there.
Cheers everyone. Hope you all have amazing harvests!
Definitely an all-around awesome smoke. It's very tasty too. I can definitely taste the GDP. The smell is out of this world! Tried to get all the bud stuffed into my cvault, but it's a tight fit 🙃😅
Had my run-in with powdery mildew midway through flower. But bud-washing was my savior! Completely killed all the pm and left me with a still incredibly strong end result. Its seriously some of the smoothest stuff I've grown to date, when smoked in a pipe.. I will be taking away 2 stars from the review because of the susceptibility to pm, however. This grow was a success as far as the autos go, overall... The photoperiod gal still has a few more days. Either way, I highly recommend this strain. Don't make my mistakes, make sure you keep your tent clean the whole grow through, ALONG with the air quality(just as important as the tent itself). That's where I honestly failed. After reading how spore transference works, I felt like such a knucklehead keeping my tent in a... 'homely' condition. Either way, lessons were had and I'm not one to make the same mistake twice! Cheers everyone, hope you all harvest some dankness as well 😀
@@Waylate, I'm very happy with the end result :) But I'm actually most looking forward to harvesting the photo version. It's got a bud the size of a nerf football 😳
Lmao, I guess I was reading the flowering time incorrectly. It's actually 70-80 days from GERM... I was assuming the flowering time referred to the first pistils being released, and then counting from there. Welp, ya live and ya learn. Harvest begins! It's going to be a low-yield per plant, but overall should equate to exactly the amount I need to keep me going through the outdoor season. The commenter that answered my question about yield was right on the money. If I hadn't done 12/12 from seed, the yield would be much more significant. But I did this as a learning experience in the first place. Somewhere down the line, I would like to give this strain a proper grow, 1 plant in a 3x6 @ 18hrs the whole session. Then I'll REALLY see how she performs. For now, I'm happy with a quick little tester batch. Next update won't be for two weeks - when It's dried and begun curing. So that I may give an adequate smoke report hopefully.
Cheers everyone! This has been a really great grow as far as learning goes. Hope you all harvest some dankness. :) 🙏
Oh wow, they finally added the Autoflower variety to the catalogue here on GrowDiaries. I updated the strain info of this diary to represent this change.
